I have to tell you, I tried pasta carbonara for supper tonight mainly because I had seen Meg make it. I had some whole wheat pasta and was given some duck eggs and was trying to make something using both. It was delicious. I added kale and snow peas from the garden, along with some bacon ends, and it was a whole meal. My husband loved it, so thank you Meg!

When we harvest our garlic, any bulbs that are “iffy” are peeled and frozen in jars. If you take a clove or two out 5 or 10 minutes to thaw a bit before you need it, you just mash it and put it in your cooking. Also we make Lebanese Garlic sauce - which is basically garlic mayo.

You have inspired me. I have bamboo in my backyard and my neighbors have a ton in their yard. I am going to cut some down dry it and build my own fence to block out the neighbors from seeing what I am doing in my yard. They have called the city on me for having pigs that I don't have, they called and said my new shed was not to code that was a 6 month fight and a bunch of other stuff. I can't afford to buy a fence so thank you for the inspo!

Some was intentionally planted at half spacing, to be pulled as "green garlic" for our low FODMAP family members. In a few days, we will harvest our scapes (also a low FODMAP food), and in a few weeks we'll get our third and final harvest, when we pull the remaining garlic.

I can't grow tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, melons or many other things to save my life! But I'm not complaining. Many other things do well here and we can grow somethings year round.
