@@swhaw well, that's also one of things that make sub of this show better, I didn't had any problem when I've seen it on my own, but when I've seen reactions to dub of MHA va of midoriya makes you think in your head "man stop being such pussy", while in sub you either think it's funny or makes you tear up yourself (even in the moments that make you angry at him in dub). Don't get me wrong, dub of this show is pretty good (even amazing considering how bad dubs usually are) and it have much more funny lines than sub and almost every va is doing pretty good job, but when it comes to emotional moments izuku va in sub >>>>>>>>>>>>>> dub. Not to mention echo effects for half of second season making lot of stuff really hard to understand (good thing they watch with subtitles, blind wave had no idea what Mic said half of the time).

Everyone knows Izuku has 2 quirks. One for All, & endless tears. While Tenya does seem a bit harsh in the beginning, that doesn't really last long. He's actually just incredibly coordinated & analytical.
So you guys know personality wise. Deku has spent his entire life dreaming to be a hero and was born into a world where the bulk of the world has powers and he had no quirks. He spent is life being bullied by bakugo. His mother even gave up on his dream. He has nothing but being a fan of his own dream till almight believed in him. 10 months of training doesn't change the effects of an entire life time of living unable to achieve his dream.
Expect that Deku said in the 1st episode that age 4 was the last time he let anything hold him back and he was still planning on applying to UA in season 2/3 Deku has never stopped chasing his dream. Did you expect him to have achieved his dream of a licensed hero by age 14? That's a high bar mate. Deku has achieved more than he ever dreamed at this point.
Possibly an uncomfortable situation that we don't often come across. Look at these guys. Unless they are parents or work with kids or distressed people they likely haven't been confronted with a crying teen ever or since they were in high school.
I never understand either, im tired of the “protagonist doesn’t have feelings because feelings are not strong and they are weak for it” mentality. That’s why I like Deku so much, while I can admit some moments are over the top, his character feels more real and shows that people that show vulnerability can still be the strongest person you know. Makes him more relatable to certain people and something new we don’t see in a lot of shows and their protagonists.
I love that Midoriya is emotional and he shows it, there's nothing wrong with it. Bakugo is emotional too, his is just mostly anger, no one has a problem with it, because I guess they think it's more manly? Jeff that’s not realistic at all. In real life, the mother wouldn’t even notice she said what she did in episode 1. That’s such a small thing that only the kid would notice.
Lots of people make this mistake, but Toxic Chainsaw isn't the one who wounded All Might. Deku asked if it was Toxic Chainsaw after learning when it happened, and All Might was surprised that Deku knew that they had fought around that time, but then says something along the lines of "a punk like that could never hurt me; the fight where it happened wasn't publicized."

If Izuku had never saved Ochaco, she would never have saved him and gotten rescue points, meaning neither would have passed. So in a way, her getting trapped was necessary for both of them.
Good thing about the series is the MC (Deku) doesn't stay a crybaby for all the series, he actually grows and becomes more secure with his decisions and consequences to his actions. This developement of his, sometimes goes unnoticed, but looking back to S1 episodes, the growth in his personality is great.
I see a lot of comments upset with the Normies commentary and though I do agree that their chit chat is a little excessive and a flavor south of progressive🌚 I just have to point out...this reaction channel is NOT known for being tactful or diplomatic. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that they’re insensitive or anything but this is hardly the first show they’ve reacted to where their commentary/reaction was full of them being childish/Immature/rude- it just tends to happen when you have such a mish mosh of people ya know? Guys, you have to realize these 6 people have NO empathy. They don't realize some characters are children. Hell, they so casually wanted Avatar Aang, a damn kid, to murder someone because we all know if these bums were in the same situation, they'd TOTALLY murder someone easy peasy. They have no empathy nor seemingly enough intelligent to actually think about characters beyond surface level descriptions.
They're just here for the fast-paced action, and don't bother to try and enjoy the rest of what these shows have to offer. It really brings their image down when they say the ignorant things they have during this and Dragon Ball Super. This is why I prefer Blind Wave, as they seem to actually follow what's going on with whatever content they watch.

I know I'm late but I'd like to add something. Something to note about Midoriya: he NEVER cries when faced with danger. It's pretty important, the only times he cries is when he feels he's failed the people around him, this is due to the fact that... Well, he was bullied, pretty severely, by a guy who constantly told him he was worthless and would never achieve what he aimed for. He has absolutely awful self confidence in the first few seasons as a result. He isn't a "crybaby", he's a victim and an emotionally wrecked and confused kid. Note how once he finally starts getting encouragement that his failures aren't that bad it takes him... Hm... The first season? A few weeks? And then after that he more or less stops crying and starts really stepping up to the plate. And again, not once during upcoming thongs that happen does he cry while he's in danger or facing danger, he always faces it head on. Season 3 he cries twice, in situations that I think almost ANYONE else would. I think people miss this all too often, and it's kinda concerning that people find it so hard to empathise with a struggling kid.
4:11 Something I love about that tracking shot is that, although we're tipped off that Shoji and Aoyama will be significant as they're in the opening credits, every foreground character is well detailed enough that they could feasibly be part of the show too. Drill Hair and Scar Vest look detailed enough to maybe even show up again later on.

I like in the sub the other people taking the test were asking why his was so jumpy and scared all the time if he had such a strong quirk. Being qurikless must be scary, not being able to defend yourself at all.

One thing I love about this show is that continuity and consequences are actually upheld. When someone injures themselves in this show, it actually affects them later on even after it heals. You guys are gonna love it.
When I first saw this I didn't think Deku cried that much. I thought it was just a way of showing how emotional it can be when the stakes are so high. His entire life and dreams are being overwhelmed in these first several episodes.

In season 2 and on it mostly has to do with him being in great physical pain (*spoilers* apart from All Might's final fight, but that is because his favorite hero who he has adored for his entire life that has given him so much has just ended his career permanently). In season 1 he is a bit of a crybaby, but when he cries it's in moments of high emotional impact. When he cries in S1, it usually involves All Might validating his existence. Remember, Izuku has spent his entire life being called inferior by his peers, knowing that he will never reach his dreams. All Might, his person of pure adoration, tells him that not only is he equal to them, he is more heroic than any of them and deserves a chance. Considering he is very young I think it is fair that he cries in these moments. Again, I can't remember every moment in the show, so if there are moments that contradict this theory let me know!

Every single time I can remember is due to emotional pressure or straight up pain e.g. him getting told he doesn't have a quirk, getting bullied, attacked by the slime villain, breaking his limbs and achieving one of his greatest dreams during this episode, some small pain tears during the physical exam and some teary eyes when he's fighting Bakugo and at the villain attack when his classmates are literally about to die. Seems pretty reasonable to me. I get that it annoys some people and they're free to feel that way but the author handles his emotional growth pretty well, considering how much he's suffered his entire life for not having a quirk. It's been a while since I've watched Season 2 & 3 but from what I remember he doesn't cry nearly as much and only for similar reasons to the one I've already listed. Why would anybody have to excuse a character for being emotionally frail if his whole life has led up for him to be that way, that's just how the character functions while it is fine to dislike it, that's literally what the genre Shonen stands for, character growth, a story to success.
Dexiant he cries when he doubts himself, he cries when someone believes in him He cries when All Might retires, a supposedly big moment, he cries as a joke from the creator. He cries when he doesn’t something that requires effort. He cries when he’s happy/sad. He cries all the damn time. He could have a reason, but those reasons are very small and insignificant at times. People are allowed to say something about his crying. Just like people are allowed to make a comment when someone bursts into tears in public with snot running down their chins.

@@FlameRyuuki I'm honestly really glad for this show to have Deku be a very emotional character because there's nothing WRONG with being an emotional person. someone's undoubtedly gonna call me an "annoying SJW" over this but oh well I've been called worse lmao; fact is, there IS still a huge stigma about boys and men crying and being emotional, it's the main reason why the suicide rate is higher for them than for women, their whole childhood they get told "boys don't cry" and even as adults they still have that shit internalized and bottle up their emotions rather than letting them out. having a character like Deku is so refreshing because it basically shows that you can kick ass and STILL show your emotions freely rather than being like every other generic cold emotionless "badass" guy from various shonen anime.

Deku asked if it was Toxic Chainsaw after learning when it happened, and All Might was surprised that Deku knew that they had fought around that time, but then says something along the lines of "a punk like that could never hurt me; the fight where it happened wasn't publicized."

If Izuku had never saved Ochaco, she would never have saved him and gotten rescue points, meaning neither would have passed. So in a way, her getting trapped was necessary for both of them.
Good thing about the series is the MC (Deku) doesn't stay a crybaby for all the series, he actually grows and becomes more secure with his decisions and consequences to his actions. This developement of his, sometimes goes unnoticed, but looking back to S1 episodes, the growth in his personality is great.

I see a lot of comments upset with the Normies commentary and though I do agree that their chit chat is a little excessive and a flavor south of progressive🌚 I just have to point out...this reaction channel is NOT known for being tactful or diplomatic. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that they’re insensitive or anything but this is hardly the first show they’ve reacted to where their commentary/reaction was full of them being childish/Immature/rude- it just tends to happen when you have such a mish mosh of people ya know? Guys, you have to realize these 6 people have NO empathy. They don't realize some characters are children. Hell, they so casually wanted Avatar Aang, a damn kid, to murder someone because we all know if these bums were in the same situation, they'd TOTALLY murder someone easy peasy. They have no empathy nor seemingly enough intelligent to actually think about characters beyond surface level descriptions.
They're just here for the fast-paced action, and don't bother to try and enjoy the rest of what these shows have to offer. It really brings their image down when they say the ignorant things they have during this and Dragon Ball Super. This is why I prefer Blind Wave, as they seem to actually follow what's going on with whatever content they watch.

Something to note about Midoriya: he NEVER cries when faced with danger.
It's pretty important, the only times he cries is when he feels he's failed the people around him, this is due to the fact that... Well, he was bullied, pretty severely, by a guy who constantly told him he was worthless and would never achieve what he aimed for. He has absolutely awful self confidence in the first few seasons as a result. He isn't a "crybaby", he's a victim and an emotionally wrecked and confused kid.
Note how once he finally starts getting encouragement that his failures aren't that bad it takes him... Hm... The first season? A few weeks? And then after that he more or less stops crying and starts really stepping up to the plate. And again, not once during upcoming thongs that happen does he cry while he's in danger or facing danger, he always faces it head on.
Season 3 he cries twice, in situations that I think almost ANYONE else would.
I think people miss this all too often, and it's kinda concerning that people find it so hard to empathise with a struggling kid.

When I first saw this I didn't think Deku cried that much. I thought it was just a way of showing how emotional it can be when the stakes are so high. His entire life and dreams are being overwhelmed in these first several episodes.

In season 2 and on it mostly has to do with him being in great physical pain (*spoilers* apart from All Might's final fight, but that is because his favorite hero who he has adored for his entire life that has given him so much has just ended his career permanently).
In season 1 he is a bit of a crybaby, but when he cries it's in moments of high emotional impact. When he cries in S1, it usually involves All Might validating his existence. Remember, Izuku has spent his entire life being called inferior by his peers, knowing that he will never reach his dreams. All Might, his person of pure adoration, tells him that not only is he equal to them, he is more heroic than any of them and deserves a chance.
Considering he is very young I think it is fair that he cries in these moments.
Again, I can't remember every moment in the show, so if there are moments that contradict this theory let me know!

Every single time I can remember is due to emotional pressure or straight up pain e.g. him getting told he doesn't have a quirk, getting bullied, attacked by the slime villain, breaking his limbs and achieving one of his greatest dreams during this episode, some small pain tears during the physical exam and some teary eyes when he's fighting Bakugo and at the villain attack when his classmates are literally about to die. Seems pretty reasonable to me. I get that it annoys some people and they're free to feel that way but the author handles his emotional growth pretty well, considering how much he's suffered his entire life for not having a quirk. It's been a while since I've watched Season 2 & 3 but from what I remember he doesn't cry nearly as much and only for similar reasons to the one I've already listed. Why would anybody have to excuse a character for being emotionally frail if his whole life has led up for him to be that way, that's just how the character functions while it is fine to dislike it, that's literally what the genre Shonen stands for, character growth, a story to success.
