Don't underestimate your daughter. She could easily have helped carry the gate. Accept her help, while she is willing to give it. It helps them feel part of it all.
There's an incredible family on youtube, Countryside Acres, who are Canadian farmers homesteading in Russia with their EIGHT kids. All the children from a very young age do almost all the same work as the parents. The children are building a house with their father. Amazing stuff! So yeah, she can absolutely do a lot more and learn skills along the way..
Yes it was honeysuckle! It smells absolutely heavenly. We collected a load and made a cordial from it, however it doesn't retain the delicate aroma it has in its natural state, just ended up a sweet syrup which tasted mostly of sugar, so was a little disappointed with the outcome.
Found myself smiling right from the start, I love how your sense of humor compliments each others and can see now your daughter comes by it naturally. I think maybe her gate joke should have won the comment of the week 😂
I am watching in the US. I love how you all interact with each other. The laughter is always the best medicine! Lots of fun to watch. Thanks for the great content!
Ye are such a lovely family and welcome to Ireland. I really hope ye join the local parish ir town community and meet loads of local people in tge area. In Ireland we are all about community and i really hope ye can get involved and meet tge neighbours and help the neighbours. Go to a gaa match a trad session get to know the real Ireland. Sounds to me like you need to put the" ground source heat pump ground source loops "underneath your steaming hot compost. Double gain, feed your food and feed the heat pump. It's so lovely to hear that you're fitting in well with the community, their knowledge and friendship will really help you to flourish just as your enthusiasm will add to their enjoyment too. 😁
Interesting idea about the compost! So have come across folks using a hot compost pile in a green house to propagate warmth loving seeds on top of. Thanks for following along
Our neighbour has one, works fantastic.... I suspect whichever you had seen were not spec'd / installed appropriately. The technology is well proven, even in really hostile climates - should work a treat in a temperate zone.
Love the show. Hey. When your solo moving cheat is mount an axle off a sm wagon old wheelbarrow to a 2x6 and strap it to one end of fence panel or anything your moving. Save your body for the future.
Hello, my name is Mark - born in Limerick but living with my wife Helen in Mississippi We love your channel. We watch a lot of renovation channels and yours is the most engaging. You are doing what we would love to do, One small suggestion, would you consider numbering your videos #001 etc. it would be easier to follow and make sure we don’t miss anything? Just a thought You guys are terrific
Hi Mark, on the YT website, if you click on any channel to open their channel page listing everything. Click on the "videos" tab just below the header and channel image, all videos ever posted are then ordered chronologically, with most recent first. Have also just added a comment to the description. The very last text is a number representing the video number. Hope that helps.
Sometimes we take a place for granted somewhat, if we've lived there most of our lives. So that makes sense that those who have a dream place would become better at it than the locals once they actually get to live there! On a scale of 1-10 ,the gate joke gets a 10 over here in America! 😂
I stayed in a BnB in Cork 25 years ago and it was a truly special experience. This lovely lady made us scones and tea when we arrived and gave us a gorgeous crystal port glass when we were leaving. I still use it and think of her. Magical country.
Yes, I sometimes have trouble hearing what you're saying because of the music. Love you guys and your channel! Your personalities just shine! I think your channel is going to do nothing but grow. ❤
May I have your recipe for the chicken pot pie you aired. Biscuits as well please. Thankyou. Hey,why don't you put out a vookbook for healthy ating on a budget. I'll hppily send $5.00 for both recipes. Thank you
Yes - can't wait to get some wild garlic going. We would visit wild fields of the stuff back in Bournemouth and harvest to make wild garlic butter and pesto.
Your daughter cracks me up with her one liners. I just found you on RUclips and I’m trying to catch up. Hope you see my comment and tell her to keep it up. Love from Washington State, USA , and I grew up on a farm and still living the dream. Ps you need a cat. ❤
You two are too cute in your “caravan corner”. Thanks for explaining the geo thermal thingy! There is nothing better than home grown Irish spuds. I wish you the best of Irish luck with all your endeavours.
Lads....this growing veg and running around after chickens is all very 'little house on the prairie', but when are we going to get stuck into the cottage reno...then you can really play the 'Ingalls' 😊
Only pulling your leg...I did enjoy the ingalls....simple innocent times...with the odd farm yard accident thrown in for good measure!...looking forward to the reno!
In Canada you can buy Carhart clothing (bib coveralls). Very heavy duty clothing. A lot of people buy them for working on farms & in Industry. With the amount of brush you have there, it might be an idea to check it out.
I just spent an intense day planning the filming over the next few weeks for my own RUclips channel and decided you guys were just what I needed to unwind. Your daughter's comment "I just take my gate on a walk" sent me into uncontrollable gales of laughter. I had to pause the video until I was more in control before I could continue watching. Such perfect, understated delivery. Definitely ending the day on a more relaxed note. Thanks for that.
Glad to see your getting animals! Some off your chickens are same as mine, I've got air source heat pump,it keeps our house warm all day& night, economic to run, especially cause we have solar panels to give us free electricity! We have a biodisc that makes our waste into water, drinkable, not that id drink it
Has been interesting to get a bunch of different breeds. We enjoy their different aesthetics and personality traits. All heat pumps are great ways to heat our homes. We went geothermal as we have the luxury of some additional land, which will hopefully make the cost over a lifetime less than if we had 4 or 5 air source pumps. Thanks for following along
Your daughter’s sense of humor is brilliant! You’ll need to start a cookbook soon, with that Chicken Pot Pie included 😊. Love to hear from you guys every week. Have a good one!
Thanks... needed this great vibe you guys have, and I didn't even know I did. ❤ I actually had an amazing day, and it just got even better... Good job 🙂
I loved your first live broadcast that was excellent well done, 👍 and today’s video was equally entertaining moving the chickens digging potatoes by hand literally and then telling us all about the heat source pump loop/?? my first thought was it’s a good job you hadn’t had a few drinks before you started to tell us about the sauce bump blue bump HIC 😮 well done it was very entertaining to tell us about the❤
Interior is not going anywhere at the moment, focused on getting the first part of the geothermal install started, will be switching to interior in a month or so. Watch this space! Thanks for following along
Love the bloopers at the end 😂 We started our renovation in 2000, just about getting to the end now...maybe 😁 Our County Cork cottage in the countryside was built in 1920 and wasn't derelict either but we've taken our time over it (no choice really, had to work full time and save up the pennies) but it's lovely to see how you are going about building your homestead. Cork people are great, we are truly blessed to have wonderful neighbours who really helped us throughout the years. Looking forward to next week's video 🍀❤️
20 year renovation, wow that is some serious commitment, good for you! Hoping our project takes half that :) Good neighbours are always a blessing, we feel the same! Thanks for following along.
@@offgridirishhomestead We set our target at 10 years but you know how plans change and things crop up to throw you off course. We were lucky that our house was completely liveable from day one, so it didn't seem like too much of a hardship. I'm sure you'll be done and dusted in a much shorter time 😊
