So they called our Hindu brothers radicals? Does that mean in India we can call Christian or muslims as radicals? I guess can't expect better from these. Very courageous of them to follow it where people oppose it so badly.

When westerners say they want free choice and live life their way they refer to eating anything, mating with anybody anytime , intoxicating anyday, earn millions, get richer day by day. That's the way they think life should go.
But when a spiritual guru awakens them and bring them to the reality and ask them to live a live with virtues, kindness, lead a soulful life, it's looked with frowned eyes by the ppl so madly sunk into the materialistic world.
Only the ones who are fortunate would continue to follow life as guru ji mentioned in his speeches and lectures.
Lastly the documentary somehow tried to paint the iskcon as a failure for the ppl in west. Unfortunately Western media is owned by media moguls who are deep into and live a materialistic and lustful life and commit almost all the sinful activities , would never ever understand the true meaning of iskcon and it's objectives.
Those who are a part of iskcon are very fortunate and I bow to them with all my respect . God bless the Hare Krishna consciousness 🙏🙏🙏

Our Hinduism says, when you born then you are a child and parents must take care of yours , education must be rough and tough as life is not easy which we get in Gurukul(spiritual name of school) where we learn to do our stuff by ourself, once you are adult, must listen and respect your parents and obey them no matter if they shout on you..And when parents get older then you become father/Mother of your parents, now its your turn to take care of them, listen and respect till the time they are alive.. that's how caring about family thought comes in you and you enjoy a joint family and learn from your parents's experience as they are there to guide you always which is very common in India.
Our parents know how the world is, real face of world as they have life through experience, so by serving , respecting, listening them we can learn a lot to deal ahead.. AND THESE ARE THINGS WHAT "HARE RAMA HARE KRISHNA" is all about.

    • @Sriniketadasa

No this is not all.....most of things you have written are proper and alligned with pure philosophy.....but somethings I want to add.......look pure knowledge and knowledge of self actualisation and god consciousness is drived out scriptures, guru, acaryas and parents .
But parents are the most criticle teachers.....to become a pure deliverer of knowledge you are required to know the knowledge ,not totally but it's summary is necessary then parents can teach their children.....but nowadays parents are hugely driven by materialistic conceptions.....they don't want their children to study scriptures....they are demons like hiranyakasipu.......and such parents are cause of degradation of initial life of child.......ofcourse there are good parents also belonging to different religious organisations like iskcon, brahma samprdaay, rudra sampradaay, shri sampradaay, gaudiya math,etc.i....who teach their child the right way of living....otherwise above 90% of parents are disastrous.....ye parents should be served but their advise should be taken only when they are religious.....we should always remember that most important thing is developing devotion and going back home back to godhead......

A well rounded documentary. Shows both sides of the story. Interesting to see that despite differences with the way they were brought up the devotees keep coming back. My visits to Iskcon temples in the UK and once at Bangalore, India have been enriched by witnessing the sincerity of western devotees. Beautiful, talented people living their lives on universal principles of love, non violence and devotion. We are vegetarian and look for hare krishna restaurants whenever we visit Europe (Eastern European cities can be a vegetarian's nightmare)
Of course, there is a bit of bigotry (which is so alien to the pluralistic tradition of India) when you hear Hare Krishna people preaching. Their books say there's no salvation if you don't accept Krishna as the supreme. I don't mind that because I don't have to agree with them to visit their temples. And other religions are so full of bigotry anyway.

I think this is hare Krishna’s biggest downfall. Hinduism is so pluralistic , flexible and non prolyterising that this seems alien. I see them as a branch or offshoot of Hinduism for this reason. Whether the like it or not they are Hindus as far as I am concerned. Sometimes the claim they are not Hindus but they are just worshipping a guru prabhupada who isn’t a god. But they think he is

in our Dharma there is one statement about God and guru is
Guru gobind singh do khare kake laguna pao , balihari guru aapne jo gobind diyo batayo .
Means if both God and guru is standing indront of u than 1stly u have to fall at the feet of guru not God bcz only the guru shows u the way to reach God. That's why guru is great .
      This is sanatan Dharma.
Now comes to belief system ,u know our religion has not single God nor single book nor God message of what to do .if any divine entity comes to our land we still ask question to him . And bhagwadgita is answer of arjun question by God krishna .
Our Dharma just gives us method to reach close to God and experience beyond this world .
One more thing we worship sun , moon ,mountain ,ocean ,river , tree, snake almost everything that found in nature and when we meet to another person we bow down to him and said namaskar. This means we consider that God found in every particle of matter .
This is the way we give respect to each other and preserve nature .
      That's all .
And sanatan Dharma talk about salvation I.e absolute freedom and there are 4 ways to achieve salvation - bhakti , gyan , karma, hath .and this hare krishna is the one of the bhakti ways , people is free to choose any path and they are also free to not choose any path and live luxury life . This is just one aspect of sanatan Dharma. Being a hindu even I don't know much thing about our Dharma bcz it is so much in detail .
Before understanding anything I don't know why people give their opinion .
It's better to 1st understand thing than comment .

Even the Australian TV stations were asking - what happened? Of course they couldn't figure it out and concluded another new age religion that crashed. What happened to the Australian Hare Krishnas is quickly summed up. The American Hare Krishnas ruled like colonial masters and let the Australian Hare Krishnas collect money in Australia's shopping malls 24/7. Like slaves. The money was used to buy farms and buildings. Then the Americans staged a scandal with a smart actor guru from New York - Bhavananda - and all Australian monks and nuns were expelled and chased away. "There's nothing left to see here - go home, everybody." Then the US Hare Krishna lawyers were flown in and registered all farms and buildings - also in New Zealand - as US Hare Krishna property. The US Hare Krishna leaders then filled the empty temples with imported devotees from India and that is the state of things. Somehow the Hindu communities manage to keep the temple coffers full. The Australian Hare Krishnas still stay away and no longer go there. A clever coup by the US Hare Krishnas how to make cash with the temple buildings that they have also pulled off across the whole of Europe. Legally correct but morally reprehensible. Some ex-Hare Krishnas speak of a modern US Hare Krishna mafia that works with an army of 35 lawyers. It is all about to establish a global real estate empire. This is not exactly the Sankirtan movement anymore.

Hare Krishna religion is the most difficult to understand but because this is Kali Yuga with the most dull headed minds, naturally the two legged animals (aka human beings) are unable to understand it but if some fortunate soul does take part in it, his or her life will become sublime, otherwise the present society is an animal society anyway and they are not expected to understand never mind their suits, ties etc. it's not possible to understand.

Everyone is born with body that has needs in order to grow and to maintain the body, to keep it busy and happy during the time one lives. This give rise to the need of constant supply of food and shelter.
One can have healthy body or unhealthy with disabilities. Body goes through periods of vitality, growth, aging and fall. So, the body has periods of dependency like during childhood, old age and disability where it requires protection and supply of food. This gives rise to the need of building family and community.
Body needs are connected with nature and fellow living and non-living species. Since some people gang up and get control of natural habitats, other people struggle to survive. Somebody has to compete to survive and thrive. The people who ganged up wants others to work for them for a living. There are people who don't want to work. There are people who work still they don't get enough. This gives rise to exploitation.
To manage all these, a system is needed. The system is built by centralized control over essential resources. Such system give rise to money and power also gives rise to problems of fair share.
To solve the problem of how to make and share resources through out one's life, we ended up with a system that naturally grows bigger and powerful that enslaves some and liberates some.
As you can see how solution to one problem creates another bigger problem. Solution to the bigger problem ultimately ends into destruction and war.
Root of the problem is not sharing.
So, God comes and tells everybody, you are nobody whatever you have is mine, it is me who gave you what you have, I never make mistakes so don't argue with me and I order you to share. Problem solved.

There are beautiful things in these teachings, culture and lifestyle.
However, this mantra apparently doesn't remove darkness from one's heart, cause so much abuse happened.
Also not enough sleep is allowed, by setting hrs and hrs for rituals and mantra, one will not follow one's one intuition and guidance system anymore.
Prabhupada's books are HIGHLY judgmental, and quite outdated.
These days there are teachings that are more pure, clear, and go straight to the heart.
E.g. Abraham Hicks, Channeling Jesus & Ananda through Tina Louise Spalding.
Buddhism, Cristianity and native cultures also have so many beautiful things in it.
