Nice fix on the hydrostatic trans. I had a similar issue where the bushing was covering the holes. I pressed it out and added some loctite & pressed it back in. It's been going strong for 7 years now!
Now that’s a good save! It must be a kubota thing to have all the hinges / linkages rust up. Lol! Mine didn’t have a smooth moving part on it when I saved it from the junkyard.
I bought and refurbished mine 3 years ago. It's a 1995 w/750hrs. The universal joints on the transaxle driveshaft were shot. It's been awesome ever since. I prefer this to any new one today. Built to last with good maintenance.
Very nice video my friend, loved the reinforcement bar trick, top notch! That particular Eaton is a known lemon (I've got the same one) but they changed it out for an upgraded model on the later machines. There's a serial number break in the service manual that talks about it. Anyways, I was just holding onto it to have the engine for an undetermined future project, but seeing one run again tempts me to put it back in service as a mower. Great memories if nothing else. I just got a workshop manual for it, so this video combined with that I feel confident I can tear into it if needed. Its absolutely a cool and unique mower and im super happy to have it.
19:12 I bet that input shaft was not pressed in deep enough after the bearing change and that shaft is probably what holds the brass bushing (the missaligned one) in place. I liked the reinforcement you did on the deck, I will copy that on a Husqvarna Rider deck (what else could it be huh..) I got recently. What kind of steel bar did you use?
I’m thinking the hydraulic pressure forced the bushing up the reason why is someone else said the same happened to them, I just used some round stock I had laying around
Have you seen how much is deck U-joint from tractor side is pooched? One you have fixed was only stuck, other one has missing bearings. You can see that at 32:45

that’s awesome!! does yours have the same transaxle? I can’t remember, and you are correct however I have a John Deere garden tractor that has all wheel steer and I love it it’s the best of both worlds!
@@MyChannel-d2e no the G series has a totally different hydrostatic set up, they are much larger transmissions, and are set up with hydraulic deck lift, and rear 3 point lifts. You got one heck of a deal on that! The engine alone was worth more than $500, around me they would be trying to sell one with a rod hanging out the side of the block and half the parts missing for like 2k. Great job fixing it up as well!
hahaha that’s so true
@@MyChannel-d2e If you look hard enough in my area you can probably find someone trying to sell one for 2k stating the infamous "Ran when I parked it!" with an obvious as all day rod hanging out the giant gaping hole in the block... I don't mind insulting idiots that waste my gas going out to look at it when they lie like that, so I should start a youtube video of their reaction when I ask "What was it running when you put it away again? Oil out the side? That is what most us call F**ked! Also I don't own a scrap metal refinery so you just pi**ed my off wasting my time!" Also 2k on anything not running better be a brand new LazerZ, spartan, or Wright zero turn with a 72in deck......"
Thank you for sharing, I learn a lot always a good project👍👍👍👍
You are very welcome I’m happy to hear that!!
Hell that engine is worth more then five hundred. Good buy. Thanks from Sc
I agree!
MM77 Approved 👍🏼👍🏼…………………………………………………..Now you can add diesel riding mower to the list of things that you have fixed!! LOL!
haha I think I’m getting a mower addiction I just got a sweet John Deere
Another amazing resurrection. You're a young guy and It's incredible how you can understand all these various and complex mechanisms. What did you go to hydraulic school or something? Such impressive stuff and great fun to watch.
thank you so much!! that really means a lot!! I am self taught I like this kind of stuff and when stuff interests you you just like learning it. when I was younger I always took stuff apart to see how it worked
@@MyChannel-d2e I understand a young fellow being able to weld some broken metal on a body or tune the carburetor on a Chevy but when you opened the transmission on this thing it looked like something from an alien spacecraft. To understand that is just bizarre. You are a mechanical savant without a doubt.
Awesome video production! That’s a happy ol tractor with you grout back to rolling 💪😎👍
Thanks 👍🙂🙂
massive skill set. I so enjoy your vids.
Thank you very much!🙂🙂
Nice job, that mower should last a long time.
thank u my friend!!
I like how you used the steel rods for reinforcements. I'm not sure I would have thought of that, but it should work really well.
thanks David they have been working good
Great video.. I like how you explain things as you found them.....
thank you very much Shawn!🙂🙂
This is a great video. That machine is incredibly clean for its age!
Couldn't agree more!
Nice fix on the trans & mower deck, you have some great skills!!
thanks👍😊👍😊😊😊😊
I just sold my T1600 with a smoked starter for 600. Their cool when they run but very troublesome tractors when they want to be. Hope she treats you good!
👍🙂
Great Video Ive had my 89 t1600 for 11 years and hit 1200hrs! Deck has been welded & reinforced countless times with chasing those cracks! Now my hydro is leaking debating on what to do. Seems like that eaton 750 doesnt have much for parts anymore other than used ebay hydro’s
There’s a very good job fixing now the lawn more is it to fix some other stuff on a day off that was in bad shape and like you said you liked it diesel engine anyways so keep it up the good job God bless
Thanks 👍
We're you have Cracks in the mower deck myself I'd drill they ends of each crack to stopping the Cracks from repeating the cracks
the cracks were caused by vibration in the u joints I think
Very nice fix and vid 👌
Looking forward on ur next vid 👍
Grtz from Belgium ✌️
Awesome, thank you!
Where did you get 1985 from? No way that unit is 38 years old.
I think it’s a 96
I got the same mower but my mower goes I would say twice as fast. Thanks for sharing.
Cool! Don’t you just love the lil diesel engine!
You have a skillset not seen in many your age... You earned a sub from me.
thank you my friend😊
That's some good service work!
WELCOME TO KUBOTA FAMILY BRO😉
Thanks! 😃 I actually have some other kubotas even a kubota push mower
@@MyChannel-d2e yeah, i realized after 😁, kubota engines are everywhere 👍👍 i've seen some people swapping a kubota engines also on a Willy's jeep, there is something also on RUclips 😉 bye bro 👍👍
This mower is almost as good as the old one you rebuilt not so long ago,did you sell the old one for a good price always interested keep doing what you’re doing love your channel cheers
Thanks Jeff if your talking about the Steiner then no the Steiner is built a lot tougher than this mower I don’t think I will sell it it’s very useful, the only good this this mower has is the engine, I think the deck is thin and transaxle is a bad design
@@MyChannel-d2echeers mate i thought the steiner was a great mower very solid, hope your health is improving looking forward to seeing next video
You sure know your way around a mower. Very nice job.
Thanks 👍🙂🙂
Those machines are a good tractor Kubota made a 1900 model with a 3 cylinder engine rock solid machine . Cutti g decks always crack. The original design is by shibaura and are still made by them expensive little buggers but very good .they were also badged Ford and ransomes I have been watching your videos your learning very well good to see a young man having a go.
Right on the 1900 is a much better built machine
Great work! just trying to help @ 32:48 your deck driveshaft front u-joint is bad.
My Kubota self propelled walk behind from 1995 still runs perfect, starts on 1st or 2nd pull every time no smoke, tons of hours, run forever.
sweet I have a kubota push mower that’s pretty cool also 🙂🙂
Great bargain nice repair and video edition.
Glad you enjoyed it🙂
