I’d love some videos about basing war game minis. I know how to paint models, but basing them to look realistic is a something I need could use more help with
@@benji4801 I FINALLY got one of the Sprues so I could take a crack at painting the minis. I’m glad I did. It saved me over $100. They are nice little figures but dear god a pain in the butt to paint. I will stick to my 28-32mm figures.
@@brunneng38 thanks for the tip bro! although i would still like to get the starter set they offer because i want to recreate the battle of Gettysburg, and i think using 28mm wound cost me to much money, and time to make. and the map i would need for it would be gigantic. Again, thanks!
That is what happened to a guy at the wargames club. Bought the starter set, out faced by so many figures. He gave away figures to anyone that wanted them. Result, I have a Confederate Brigade to paint.
I've had this set for 2 years now and I have barely even scratched the surface of it even when slapping through them without much care. They still look pretty good even when you are being absolutely sloppy with your brush control.
As I understand it I think the union sprue is identical aside from blue plastic. If true I think that is a shame as they really should have far fewer slouch hats.
You’re correct. Disappointing to me as well but you can trim some slouch hats to make them look more like kepis. It just adds that much more time to getting them finished. 😢
Doesn't the game actually recommend mounting two ranks on the base for the infantry? I mean you can still use the same base size and you would have to paint the units separately but you know, two ranks to comply with the rule set?
No its just a visual. Do you want more figures on a base or not? Black Powder just counts the bases, not the figures on them. We are using Fighting Brothers to play ACW with.
Because its too hard to paint 2 ranks if you put them on a base before you paint them. But consider using only one rank per base. Same number of figures, twice the bases!
i bet most of the people who buy this see that theres 2200 figures in the box but dont realise there are 2200 figures to paint in the box...straight to ebay
For me, thats part of the reason I’d want to get the box 😂 as someone who doesnt play games much but loves painting minis, i see that as a good thing! It would keep me occupied for a while and i can always put them away if i want to take a break and come back to them later
Pete the Wargamer's tutorials are always quick and effective.
Directly saved to my favorites. Well done. I'm waiting for my box
Did it arrive yet? Im trying to figure out how long shipping takes
@@nicowolf2383 So I got my box last Wednesday
Another amazing tutorial ! Absolutely love it.

Marvelous. I'm really looking forward to painting some of these myself.
Looks good interesting having them all attached 🤨
Can you do black powder early French infantry from the napoleonic war please!
looking fab as always , happy new year .
I’m so torn. I really want to buy this starter box but by the time I’d finish painting everything I’d probably have lost the desire to play the game.
that is so me

Impressive, effective...and beautiful!
Superb work.
What size brush do you use? Is the fine tip brush a 00000? Do you use that for the whole mini?
Very nice
Looks great! Wonder how long it would take to paint all 1000+ minis in that box!
I got the waterloo kit a year ago and i still didnt finish, there was like 200 in that, so id say this may take a few weeks straight to paint them all

Do you k now how much a plastic mould costs?
Also this guy converts some of his hats: ruclips.net/video/SiSw5rfDqwo/видео.html&feature=emb_title
Slouch hats were pretty common among western Federals.

@@greywanderer5935 Yes. Around £8,000. Down from the £20,000 they used to cost. Thanks to computing.
Great job guys! realling looking forward to this!
the blankets were colorful
Astounding.
man this makes me wish SO bad i had money!
Wow just WOW!!
What kind of plastic are these figures? I own some Revell 1/72 figures and the paint breaks of. I have washed them before.
No its hard plastic. The paint will not break off.
Were these in the Prussian army at Waterloo ?
Always use medium to thin!
thank you.
Great
Is it just me or was the bed roll on their back skipped? Doesn't look bad, just wondering.
Any thoughts at how well contrast paints would work at this scale?
This video shows these models painted up with Contrast paints. The description lists all the colors used.

Are you basing them all in 1 rank ie 10 per base
Hes planning on 2 ranks per base. But I think a single rank per base is a valid option. Same number of figures, twice the bases!
Why only one strip of miniatures on your base?
Because its too hard to paint 2 ranks if you put them on a base before you paint them. But consider using only one rank per base. Same number of figures, twice the bases!
Good grief, I ain't doing all that! They do look good though.
And no one finds weird seeing rebels all wearing sack-coats?...
What scale are these?
12mm
Do some 6mm ancients!!
They are out there and been available for decades. But these figures are more like 12mm.
wrong song.

For my club, they were distributed around the club. I am going for 2 brigades of Confederates, other people are doing Union.
@@zedeyejoe Yep ...good idea..that box is an expensive plastic mountain in one go !
