This is awesome. Would there ever be the possibility of Bob, just designing a really basic figure and showing us how he does it, like a screen recording? Would be so interesting.
That's a great idea. I'd be really interested to see how something like this is done, and TBH I've never understood why GW doesn't capitalise on this incredible creativity they have in their design department and do something like a behind-the-scenes just for marketing purposes. It'd be genuinely awesome if one day they just released some high profile miniature and then went "...and this is how we did it start to finish" in the style of all those sportclub documentaries where they follow a team for a season. Probably ridiculously expensive to produce, but it would be an awesome documentary.
Bob Naismith is such a wonderful genuine man. His attitude about the hobby and just life is amazing. Really hope to see him more on the painting phase, maybe even a small little sculpting special?
Amazing episode, Bob is an incredible human, like the last time, just 10-15 minutes in and I love the man. I do want to take the chance to ask if it is possible to bring in Karl Kopinski, would love to hear him talk about his period on GW, in most of his interviews that period gets passed by because the interviewers don't know or care about that. Also Adrian Smith would be amazing.
Bob is such a fascinating bloke to listen to. I bet he's an absolute mine of stories and knowledge if you could ever get him to have a coffee or an ale for a couple of hours. Great episode again guys
That was absolutely amazing amazing. Bob is the most down to earth guy in the business. Ty for giving us such an iconic hour an half. Ty Bob for all that you have done for this community.
"That's exactly how I do it", coming from John Blanche is a solid gold badge of honour. I don't think there could be a higher compliment to be paid in this hobby.
Always love hearing Bob talk about the insights of the whole design process of minis. I could sit for hours and listen to him talk about injection moulding!
I was taught to do the hand bridging thing when i was 11 or 12 in the early 2000's in the games workshop in York. I was painting my first miniature (an archer) and the advice has stuck with me till today.
Another excellent interview; that old marine was delightful to see, but I really love Bob’s explanation of all the engineering and tooling that goes into model creation. My grandfather was an “industrial arts” teacher, and had a lot of similar stories to tell.
I just realized that the Warhammer Retrospective articles they've been releasing this year also do not credit the original artists or sculptors. I don't think that's super relevant but I was trying to find a Catalog of Bobs work from games workshop and stumbled on it.
Bob "Mince-n-tatties" Naismith...❤👍. Bob's figures were the first 40k miniatures i ever saw, and they blew mecaway. My imagination ran wild, and i was hooked. I'm still an old metal mini fanatic. Thank you, Bob, for such a wonderful hobby. 40k has been a part of my life longer than it has not. 😊
As a 3D artist that pretty much lives in Zbrush, I love listening to Bob. I've always thought about getting a 3D printer and these chats with Bob push the 'thought' a little closer to reality. Excellent stuff as always chaps, hope you feel better Pat. Edit: Bob's analogy about different software being like a car where the steering wheel is located in different places, is spot on!
Great chat lads, love hearing from the oracle that is Bob. Don't know if he'd be up for it, but another star guest would be Rick Priestley - saw an interview he did about GW Middle Earth Tabletop recently and would be great to hear him go deeper
I loved the first time Bob was on & loved this time too. Listening to him speak is like Master Splinter teaching the Ninja Turtles. I could listen to his stories for hours & I don’t have a desire to learn how to make miniatures. He’s such a great fellow.
I can only hope and pray that I maintain such a level of youthfulness and enthusiasm that Bob has visibly kept through his many years. Absolutely lovely to see him talk about his passions and it makes me happy he still gets to create things
Loved the first one with Bob love this one. After last time I decided to learn 3d modelling as Bob made it sound easy and relaxing.... It's not easy but it is relaxing :)
Such a great interview! I started playing Rogue Trader 40K with school friends as my first foray into tabletop gaming. So much nostalgia there for me. What a great insight into the design and manufacturing process from someone who was there from the beginning and now sculpts using 3D software. You should definitely get a 3D printer for the channel. I’ve just picked up my first one and I’m having a blast with it.
What a legend. I hope he makes a habit of popping in! And someone needs to make those minis into plastic! Oooh, next on the list is John Blanche right? Go on:)
Another fascinating interview with Bob. It was great to hear him talk about some of processes and his first forays into digital sculpting. I remember when Zbrush first came out and a friend of mine who's 3D artist went nuts over it. Prior to that he'd been working with 3D Studio Max.
Get well soon pat.Thank you again for another great show, gents, and thank you, Bob, such a treasure. Will there ever be a painting phase army made featuring all the guests of the show in future?
Old WFB skeletons - the ankles would always snap on one foot leaving a sort of spike. Pat looking a bit older and more handsome than usual in this video... XD
If people were struggling to understand what Bob was talking about when referring to the ‘Line of Draw’, here’s a great video by a sculptor for the game Oathsworn explaining Line of Draw or ‘Pull Direction’ as he calls it in this video. The drawings/graphics really help it make sense: ruclips.net/video/3Qq2T929rw0/видео.html
Currently watching this whilst also suffering with a lost voice due to this infection going around :( Another great interview. Bob is so interesting and friendly :)
Much like what what Bob was saying with his range one of the things I love about Corespace (Battlesystems) is that the random NPCs in the game do get attacked by the AI faction, and can also interact with or join the player teams and become heroes in their own right. As far as barren sprues goes, Space Marine Scouts with sniper rifles is more white space than parts.
we need 75mm Skirmish minis again. GW was onto something with Inquisitor, they were just about 10 years too early. I remember thinking to myself, if they farmed that out to tamiya they could keep that going forever and Tamiya would have been very good at making highly customizable and poseable push fits at a fraction of the cost to the consumer; it would have been a solid product.
Great video as usual!! Perhaps Bob could show us a Blender tutorial where he sculpts a vehicle, building and infantry model? I'm trying to grasp blender but not quite getting it.
This is awesome. Would there ever be the possibility of Bob, just designing a really basic figure and showing us how he does it, like a screen recording? Would be so interesting.
That's a really good idea! We keep in touch so maybe we'll try to set something up in the future.
@@thepaintingphase just think it would be interesting to see how he does the basics
Painting with Peachy. Building with Bob
That's a great idea. I’d buy that for a dollar
I couldn't ask for a better returning guest. Absolutely love Bob Naismith! ♥️
Bob Naismith is such a wonderful genuine man. His attitude about the hobby and just life is amazing.
Really hope to see him more on the painting phase, maybe even a small little sculpting special?
I do enjoy when Bob is on. When are you upgrading him to "Friend of the Show" status?
I like the fact the majority of the video is questions and answers cant wait to see what the next tea with Bob has in store.
Amazing episode, Bob is an incredible human, like the last time, just 10-15 minutes in and I love the man.

Awesome podcast as always with a surprise shout out 🤩! thanks guys. The T'au bust is about 1:4 scale. If you're coming to fest I'll show you.
😍😍😍 TOM!!! HI!!! YOURE THE BESTEST!!!! - Peachy
Great guest. Naismith was a big inspiration to many artists including me. So much history, skill, and character packed into one man.
That was absolutely amazing amazing. Bob is the most down to earth guy in the business. Ty for giving us such an iconic hour an half. Ty Bob for all that you have done for this community.

Love Bob hanging out with my fav hobbycrew!
Great show all! Would love to hang with Bob and chat minis for an afternoon. Loved his first show too! Cheers
Always love hearing Bob talk about the insights of the whole design process of minis. I could sit for hours and listen to him talk about injection moulding!
Hahaha! Yea same, the guys a national treasure

Fantastic episode! Always great to hear from Bob and see his work, also Geoff’s Hand Cam was on point today! 👌🏻😂
They looked bigger than my more than ample head!
What a genuine guy. Thanks for getting Bob on again. Really enjoy hearing the creative process behind models.
He's an absolute delight isn't he

So cool to hear from someone that has worked across the various eras of how miniatures are designed and still designing to this very day.
Thanks team!
Loved this, these conversations about GW origins are pretty invaluable. Talking to the people that gave us great childhoods is so cathartic in a way.
Honestly it’s such a privilege to be able to have these chats
As a 3D artist that pretty much lives in Zbrush, I love listening to Bob. I've always thought about getting a 3D printer and these chats with Bob push the 'thought' a little closer to reality. Excellent stuff as always chaps, hope you feel better Pat.

Bob is the best guest you've had on. Very knowledgeable.
Thank you so much Bob for bringing our rulebook to The Painting Phase ! Such a good surprise for me !
Such a good looking book, I’m very much up for trying it out, it looks superb, well done - Peachy
@@thepaintingphase hi Peachy ! Thanks for this nice feedback. Do not hesitate to contact me if you want, my mail is on the game website. 🙂
Im only halfway through watching but wanted to say superb interview, so insightful. Thank you so much.
Another great interview, fascinating to hear more of Bob's experiences.
More Bob please! He fits in sooo good!
To see someone who’s been in the game so long ranting and raving about new technology is really refreshing what a class bloke
I loved the first time Bob was on & loved this time too. Listening to him speak is like Master Splinter teaching the Ninja Turtles. I could listen to his stories for hours & I don’t have a desire to learn how to make miniatures. He’s such a great fellow.
Brilliant show gents! There’s a lot of history in that room! Hope to hear the third instalment with Bob!
Legends the lot of you!

Brilliant. Bob seems such a lovely guy.
So good! Another fantastic chat with Bob. Love it.
Could sit and listen to Bob all day.
I love these chats, gentlemen. So wonderful and time flies when listening to the stories, simply wonderful! Thank you so much for the great talk.
Bob is so great to listen too, so much knowledge and experience
Great chat gents! Hope Pat is well!
Always amazing to see Mr. Naismith.
What a fantastic episode! Its thanks to guys like bob that we all have this hobby we love.👍

Cool to hear even absolute legends like Bob have embraced Blender. It's such a nice piece of kit, for many jobs too.
You realise you now need to get John Blanche on the show. His artwork is still rated as some of the best out there!!
Blanche doesn't seem to be in the best of health, though.
wonderful and insightful interview - love the work.
I could listen to bob all day
I could listen to this for hours.
What a legend. I hope he makes a habit of popping in! And someone needs to make those minis into plastic! Oooh, next on the list is John Blanche right? Go on:)
What a great teacher Bob is
Fantastic follow up interview! Bob is such an interesting and insightful guy.

Awesome interview again, love listening to Bob.
Gotta love Bob!!
Bob is such a blast!
Another great ep this. Thanks to all involved.
Bring more jolly grandpas! Best people ever.
I had a great time listening to you. I love mars code aurora and the models made by Bob for this setting.

I simply love the artisan-artist talk 🙏
It’s great to learn and hear from the greats!
Thank you for putting this treasure or a man on our screens.
Another great Bobcast!
unknowingly one of the most important people in my life haha! Legend
Great episode guys, thanks for the hobby content you bring to everyone. Have an amazing day
😍🫶😍 thank you
awesome - literally!
NAISMITH IS A LEGEND! well done lads
As someone who uses 3D modelling in my day job as Engineer I love hearing Bob talk about making models in 3D.
excellent stuff, I loved every minute of it !!
Dynamic Wrinkles and Drapery by Burne Hogarth I believe Bob was referring to, absolute bible for clothing and dynamism.
Mic's sound good.. Video's running.. Pat's not there... what warp shenigans are going on in the midlands!
Is there pictures of all the greens? I only saw one shared
Bob Naismith seems like a wonderful guy
Excellent as ever
This is wonderful
Ahhhh yes, the original Bob Naismith!!! God I hope he gets some great royalties from GW!!!
YOUR SHOW IS SO GOOD
Bob is a legend
Currently watching this whilst also suffering with a lost voice due to this infection going around :( Another great interview. Bob is so interesting and friendly :)
He’s like the most loviest gentlemen I’ve met, and incredible chilled and humble in equal measure
Much like what what Bob was saying with his range one of the things I love about Corespace (Battlesystems) is that the random NPCs in the game do get attacked by the AI faction, and can also interact with or join the player teams and become heroes in their own right.

Bobs a gentleman and great guest
I love Bob!! More Bob! Is there a Peachy, Geoff and Bob historical war game episode in the future??
What a legend!
great video as always!
Return of the King
If Bob Naismith released some retro inspired marines id buy!
Same.
we need 75mm Skirmish minis again. GW was onto something with Inquisitor, they were just about 10 years too early. I remember thinking to myself, if they farmed that out to tamiya they could keep that going forever and Tamiya would have been very good at making highly customizable and poseable push fits at a fraction of the cost to the consumer; it would have been a solid product.
love the shirt Geoff!
Thank you Sir!
Lovely talk
we love you bob!
What a great show
Stevo, that male-female mating of broken Uruk-Hai pikes is your classic cup-cone fracture mechanics of ductile materials.
Oh very interesting, thanks for the fact check 👍👍👍
I could listen to Bob talk all day, so many stories! Geoff's t-shirt is amazing, where's it from?
I believe it's from a company called "last exit to nowhere" smashing isn't it! - Pat
Great video as usual!! Perhaps Bob could show us a Blender tutorial where he sculpts a vehicle, building and infantry model? I'm trying to grasp blender but not quite getting it.
