I originally didn't click with Peachy when he first appeared on the Warhammer TV painting guides, I must have had some daft notion that he was userping Duncan somehow. I saw the odd painting livestream on on WHTV and got a better idea of who he was. Now it's interesting to see Peachy without the GW filter and it's fascinating to hear this man explain how things were behind the scenes without the whole thing feeling sordid. It is a shame to see people like Peachy and Duncan leave GW but it is great to see these genuinely likeable people reaching success on their own merits. I will have to keep an eye on this channel, it's amazing, though the deep dive into pegging nearly killed me with laughter. Good job and see you in the next vid.
Thanks Tremadog, honestly when I first started in WHTV I felt the same like I was hanging on Duncs coattails and weirdly was asked to follow his style. So I completely agree and understand the fact folks didn’t quite gel with me. But glad I’ve had a chance to go my own way and be well ‘me’. Thanks for the kind words and I hope you enjoy our content 👍 - peachy
@@thepaintingphase It took me a while to put my finger on it, but that's my problem with the new group they've got. It feels like they're trying to do Peachy impressions instead of painting tutorials. Hopefully they all get to find their own voices soon!
@@DanielJohnson120 too many of the current lot are trying a bit too hard and need to be more themselves, also better scripting as there is a lot of "I paint this colour... now I paint this colour... then I paint this colour"
Peachy's "For a plant to grow it has to be repotted" really spoke to me. Earlier this year I had to leave my old job and switch careers for mental health reasons, and I've been umming and arring about whether it was the right thing to do ever since, but hearing Peachy say this really helped sum it up for me. Thanks guys 👍
It’s such a scary thing to do, leave what feels like a safe and secure job, but no jobs really secure. And I though it may not feel it to start with the brave move will pay off. Especially for your mental well being. And bloody good for you AJ, I hope for nothing but positive things - Peachy
Yeah good luck AJ and for being brave and changing jobs! I’ve been in the same job for 23yrs and I’m too scared, to try something different.. a huge lack of confidence, has always been my bugbear.. 😞
I'm about to leave my job of 19 years too, it's terrifying and also sad as I've worked with the same person for all that time. If it helps there's a small self-help book called 'Who Moved My Cheese?' It's short, takes about 45 mins to read, broadly about change and American so some of it is a bit OTT, but I've had it for years. I reread it the other week as my leaving date approaches and it's definitely helped me come to terms with my decision and the new opportunities that will be open to me.
It's baffling to me how GW has managed to let such great talent go. First Duncan and now you guys - the level of enthusiasm and passion and success that ex-emplyees have generated is amazing. GW should have been throwing as much money as they could to keep people like you on their team! Excited to see what comes next for you guys , love the show [:
I'm not saying it is the right decision, I really don't like it, but GW have been consistent at making sure GW is seen as GW/Warhammer/40k rather than personalities. Be they game designers, writers, mini-painters, artists, executives or presenters. Obviously a choice by the company and arguably it does, and as worked, for them. Hopefully one day they embrace the personalities more (many are so well spoken, cultured and interesting, passionate people), but probably unlikely.
Most companies are run that way nowadays. “Rule 1 everyone is replaceable”. And it is a self fulfilling stance also. They don’t care that employe X is 20% better, because to acknowledge that would break the rule and leave the company in a worse spot in their opinion. And it also means they don’t want people to stay around for too long. Because they don’t want a company full of people quitting around the same time.
For a creative company it's quite good to bring in new blood, with new folk generally comes new ideas, skills and drive. Most of those who leave go on to success in other projects that ignites their creativity and drive.
The company has changed a lot. I left after 16 years in the studio for many reasons but it just wasn’t what it was. I’ve got lots of lovely memories from the great people and products for sure but also lots of sad ones from the poor management practices. You’ll hear a lot of negativity from ex employees because of this so it’s nice to hear some great stories for a change.
Same, i never liked him much on games workshop channel but seeing him here is like watching a completely different person and i like it much much better
I’ve got to say, it’s so nice to listen to former GW employees shoot the s**t without resorting to massive negativity and dog kicking. There’s been so much negativity on RUclips of if late it’s diminished lots of my hobby joy, but this kinds of stuff is quickly restoring it
I worked for GW as a sales assistant for 5 years and hands down the best job I've ever had. I only left due to personal reasons, nothing to do with the company itself. I agree that there are moments where you think ''what the fuck'' but peachy is right the fact it's 9/10 times its just people being people. As a female in the industry and hobby GW looked after me greatly.
When Peachy hinted about his thoughts on the old world blowing up, it made me think. You could do a good chat style show about big releases/events in GWs history, with some stories about behind the scenes development of the product as well as some light hearted stories from the time. That way you could bring on other guests like Duncan, and other people previously involved with the company: Rick Priestley, Andy Chambers etc
I personally like the fact there’s Ex-GW employees like Peachy, Pat and Duncan who have went on to diversify their portfolio with different miniatures… but by far my favourite thing is that they INTERACT with their communities. GW still having comments disabled on RUclips is just daft because interaction is what makes people grow and up skill, but also allows people to see they aren’t alone with the things they struggle with for example coming up with “unique” colour schemes, armies, background lore or even just asking for clarity on a technique. I love Warhammer but I also love seeing stuff that isn’t just Warhammer. I have a list of things GW does that I don’t like (don’t we all) but I’ll save it for another day/if ever but it never really detracts from my love of Warhammer.
Honestly interacting with the community is our bread and butter, like you said, helps us to grow, see the difficulties others maybe having with there hobby, and just to have a good natter about the stuff we love. "GW still having comments disabled on RUclips is just daft because interaction is what makes people grow and up skill," Take a look at the rabid anti-GW comments on any "clickbait" video here on RUclips, or at the comments section on any Warhammer Official post on Instagram. There's a good reason their RUclips comments are disabled - they'd probably have to hire someone full time just to moderate all the negativity. And at that point, GW would get just as much flack if they deleted the negative/awful comments as they would if they left them all in place. Turning comments off altogether is probably the least volatile option they could have chosen.

I always enjoyed Peachys painting Videos on WHTV and i was honestly really sad he wasn't there anymore. And with great luck i found him here while scrolling through RUclips. Glad to see him again. Always loved his painting style.
A lot of the later discussion resonated with me, especially in regards to telling a story and whatnot. Videos about techniques are great, but what’s been keeping me engaged lately are creators like Studson Studios, Mechanical Fiend, Boylei Hobby Time, etc. it’s easy to put on a 30 minute video from Studson and suddenly realize that I never even touched my paintbrushes because I’ve been riveted to whatever he’s building this week.
I thoroughly enjoy the level of painting, there are always useful tips and having a follow up extra details makes all the difference. A lot of channels set the bar too high and average folks won't have the muscle memory or practice to be good at high end techniques. I enjoyed my time at GW, it only went bad because of personnel changes which led to conflicts of interests. Everything changes eventually
Another great conversation! I agree with the aspect of storytelling; there are a number of painting and battle report channels I watch, but I always love when those creators take a jaunt into talking about themselves or their own hobby journey. That’s one thing I really love about your channel, the “personal interest” was there from the beginning, so developing a connection was easy and immediate.
Great talk guys! This is fast becoming my favourite hobby channel. It's great to see Peachy outside the GW umbrella and those other chaps seem alright too! 🤣
My first minis were metal dark eldar, also lost to time but u have almost picked up at least one of every sculpt of the metal minis to recreate my army :)
This is becoming a weekly treat to listen to! Would love an episode just rambling about the nerdy hobby stuff you love - armies, paint silly lore bits etc.
It's interesting you mentioned engaging with people on discord. I've supported some hobby creators in the past who tout their discord as a patreon benefit but who never (or very rarely) interact with the community there. It has happened often enough that these days I'm a bit hesitant to buy into patreons since I now think of "get access to our awesome discord!" as a bit of a vapour-benefit. Anyway, I really love the format and content of your videos and these chats are great also. Thanks guys.
Really interesting chat. Like many have said, it is nice to see people being more positive about the future with reflection on good thing in the past as well as a balance view of things that they didn't agree with. GW are a big business so some decisions will be wrong or less caring etc.
Don't talk down your star wars videos so much, I'm loving watching these chat videos while I paint. I watched this one while painting the clones that your clone tutorial convinced me to buy! and now I've signed up to your patreon too!

Small Human hobbyists!! Huzzah! You should absolutely explore that, because the hobby needs more "family content". There's so many people out there that Table-Top gaming, RPG, miniature painting are part of their family time. It would be great for the "next gen" to have someone to grow with!
Great and insightful video. Interesting point about Sqidmar. I'm one of those people who unsubscribed to his channel for the very reason mentioned in this video, just lost me in the pivot to the big epic projects he focuses on now. But its great that channels like Squidmar exist along with channels that focus on the more day to day hobby techniques like The Painting Phase. Great to have a wide choice of hobby videos out there.
Great podcast once again! If you're looking for a topic in particular for the future that's not necessarily wargaming related, I'd love to hear more about Peachy's motorcycle. Do you ride for fun, or just commute? Ever take long trips on it?

Roughly one a week is the plan
Got to love some down to earth talk shows. Love the painting videos too.
Thanks so much Jeremy.
Loving these, absolute great banter between all of you.
I feel like this has legs, its not too specialist, not too amatuer (paint tutorial wise) plus the conversations are honest, even about GW. I know its just started but needs the likes to take off. would love to see this succeed.
No hate here guys discovering this channel has been the highlight of the year after learning from Pman for all those years! Regardless of what he preached on GW tutorials I never painted to that standard lol so it's great to see its acceptable to paint and make those mistakes sometimes
Great atmosphere on this channel. I hope you guys succeed and make it profitable in the long run.
Hey Peachy, these discussions are absolutely aces and really great to listen to. It's really great to see how well your transition out of GW has gone. Thank you for the many years of help with the hobby. Wishing you all the best and hoping for many great years to come.
Aww thanks Kireek. Looking forward to a fun filled future 👍😍👍
I'm currently just returning to the hobby after a long time. Starting to paint again and play miniature boardgames. I have just discovered the channel and I am loving it. Keep up the great content.
I wish you guys every success for the future may you all blossom and expand the channel to something massive.
Thanks Russ (my favourite Primarch), much appreciated.
@@thepaintingphase Funny that as I have been into the Wolves since the very first metal box sets came out, (yes, I'm that old), Dan Abbnet signed one of his books for me and put "To Russ (the Great Leman)" love the man it made my day many moons ago.
Loving all the videos guys, so nice to hear just honest opinions that aren't trying to throw dirt or put people on pedestals. Can't wait for what you guys have planed!
Cheers, glad you like the chat shows, and we have so many things we want to talk about and lots of vids planned
I wasn’t prepared for the pegging towards the end of the video 😂😂😂
No one was!
I REALLY!
Hate how u 2 are so positive and confident in thinking ur doing the right thing When in reality......Ur doing alot better lol u guys are true inspiration for me im all tge way in brothers.
Haters gonna Hate I never understood why anyone would hate another's dreams or work?
Confusing world full of ......
Thanks! That's much appreciated 👍 haters indeed hate, nothing we can do about it so we'll crack on regardless.
This was an immediate subscribe for me. Glad to see you're doing your own thing.
Thanks so much, you’re ace.
I always enjoyed Peachys painting Videos on WHTV and i was honestly really sad he wasn't there anymore. And with great luck i found him here while scrolling through RUclips. Glad to see him again. Always loved his painting style.
Good video guys 🙌🏼 I really like these discussion based videos. Nice to have them on in background while doing some hobby.
It's really nice to see real conversations, and genuine personalities. Keep up with the joking too!
😍👍👍👍 Cheers Steve
Quickly becoming my favorite YT channel. You guys are awesome
Thanks man too kind.
It is nice to see Peachy's talent's not constrained to one product line. I look forward to more videos. Keep up the good work.
Cheers Martini, I love watching the experts but I often feel more intimidated than inspired. Sorry GW didn’t work out.
Enjoying the videos gents. Keep up the good work.
Love this show! So nice to see the humans behind GW stuff talking like humans.
Cheers Frank.
Really enjoy these videos and totally agree with Peachey about painting with children & partners :D
@51:45, Boylei Hobby Time and his Wild Imaginary West. He also does numerous Star Wars dioramas complete with LEDs
Love those videos!
I love you guys. Also like the idea of making a variety of content for my channel, only I am a terrible painter! 😂
Your personal standard will be always be relatable to someone, so go for it.
Great talk guys! This is fast becoming my favourite hobby channel. It's great to see Peachy outside the GW umbrella and those other chaps seem alright too! 🤣
Why thank you - Geoff
Great stuff! Looking forward to the "how to match contrast paints" and the next talk show videos!
Great video guys!
Great video, as always! Really enjoying these chats.
It's great to see Peachy out in the wild.
Oh Peachy, your pegging innocence made me cry TT_TT
With laughter
Hahaha! All true and I’m very much enlightened now 😅🤘
Love these chats chaps, always interesting.
My first minis were metal dark eldar, also lost to time but u have almost picked up at least one of every sculpt of the metal minis to recreate my army :)
What a great trio.
Love the videos Peachy. Definitely life after Games Workshop.
😍👍 yep very much so.
This is becoming a weekly treat to listen to! Would love an episode just rambling about the nerdy hobby stuff you love - armies, paint silly lore bits etc.
Yep, We think that can be arranged
Your ethos with the channel is fantastic. Looking forward to more content from you all!
Aww thanks Mark, much appreciated. And yeah we have tons of stuff we want to do. 😍
So... Warhammer podcast and I'm now looking up substitutes for eggs in baking recipes. For the Emperor!
😍😍😍 aww thanks Elliot on all accounts, super appreciate your words and support - Peachy
I really enjoy listening and watching this channel and looking forward to more from this channel in future.
Also want to say I’m inspired to do Custodes and watching Peachies paint is so well put across and other painting vids that’s done looking forward to putting different techniques together with my painting!
Hey Chris, glad we’ve inspired you to have a crack at the custodes, and we hope our other vids help bring something to your painting journey. Much love bud
Really liking the talking videos.
Keep up the awesome work guys! Love the channel and these shows are great!
Great video. Good to hear some banter that wasn't completely negative.
We’re not out to be an unnecessary negative bunch, there’s just no point.
@@thepaintingphase Yep. Life is too short!
Just discovered you guys this morning, been really enjoying the talk showey podcast style format from two former GW guys. I did not realise Peachy had left GW, I am glad to see that he is doing well. Will keep my eyes peeled for what you have coming up.
Thanks Ben, I left at the start of September and joined up with Pat on his channel, and we’re both loving it.
Glad your enjoying the chats too - peachy
"It's like a Bob Ross downstairs..." - I'll never think of "Happy little trees" the same way again!
I was rather shocked I can’t lie - Geoff
Fun times, I like. Warhammer is favourite game.
A fellow Cumbrian 😊🎉 great show
"Oh, my cheeks hurt" at the end of pegging story. Genius.
unintentional, but I stand by it hahaah
Always enjoyed the fun and enthusiasm Peachey brought to GW content, so it's great to see him continue to present and share his vast knowledge of the hobby.
Glad I found your guys channel in this content ocean we call RUclips, keep up the great work 👍.
Also I'm glad I'm not the only one that got caught out with the current day meaning for pegging 😅, apparently pinning school bags to the ground with a tent peg back in the day isn't the same as what it is today 🤣.
😂😂😂 such wholesome games destroyers by the next generations dictionary lol
Great content Guys absolute pleasure to watch very refreshing keep up the great work
😍👍 thanks Adam.
Excited to see what you lads get up to in the future.
Small Human hobbyists!! Huzzah! You should absolutely explore that, because the hobby needs more "family content". There's so many people out there that Table-Top gaming, RPG, miniature painting are part of their family time. It would be great for the "next gen" to have someone to grow with!
You’re bang on!
Peachy, any chance of showing us how we could paint some Bretonnians? Seen you had a brilliant army few years back!
Free copy of the Magna Carta! That killed me! :)
I thank you.
Great podcast once again! If you're looking for a topic in particular for the future that's not necessarily wargaming related, I'd love to hear more about Peachy's motorcycle. Do you ride for fun, or just commute? Ever take long trips on it?
Great chat, fellas, really enjoyed this vid. Nererata's saddle! Crikey. Very interesting to hear about experiences behind the scenes at GW / Warhammer+
Another fantastic discussion from this channel, really love getting the deep dive and balanced view insights from your professional and personal opinions. Great also to get to learn more about you guys and can't wait to see what's next!! :)
I'm painting quite happily sat listening to this, getting fairly good results, enjoying myself. Content. Happy. Love the insights into the company that produce the models we love..... until the pegging section.. laughed till my face hurt, you need to do a how to strip paint off minis now cause this one's gone a bit wrong now lol 😆
Hahaha! We’re all terribly sorry lol
Really enjoying listening to these talk shows while at work, just don’t tell the boss🤫
Your secret is safe with us.
Love this channel. Great chat. Older experienced painter but always ready to look at all types of painting. I’m currently building a British napoleonic army and would love to see peachy speed paint some troops 🧐👍

This is great to watch
Cheers Stormingmonkey!
