Put your lemon peels in a bowl with the sugar over night and the sugar draws out the lemon oils and makes this substance called oleo saccharum like you do with the strawberries. Then you add it to boiling water like you did in the video. Looks good either way!
Apparently, all Wendy's does is take one half gallon carton of Hubert's lemonade base, cut with a gallon and a half of tap water and stir. For the strawberry flavor they add a bag of strawberry puree. Who knew? 🤷♂️
Just made this!! So yummy thank you for sharing! I love the lemon simple syrup truly changed the game there! I put my strawberries with sugar in the fridge overnight and topped the drink with the strawberries after straining. A perfect way to use the lemons from the tree 👍🏽✨
