I cooked without pressure cooker. Without soaking beans. I baked in water for 2 hours. You can use canned beans too for sure as long as your chicken is precooked. After browning tomato paste and onion, i added a little minced garlic, 2 diced Roma tomatoes, generous salt, little cumin, cayenne powder, half lemon juice...Add the beans, partially cooked if raw. then some fried potatoes and corn, water, then 2 chicken thigh/wing, cook on low until done. At the end Add some soft cheese. I grew up in konya, and armenia too, and yes I get fancy with stuff at times;)

Undisputedly, one of the most cooked dish in Turkey. For both rich and poor. I love it! (red pepper paste is optional, not a must)

Thank you so much for posting your videos. I work at a group home and every month we pick a country to learn about culture, history and food. This month was turkey, I chose this bean soup and flatbread recipes. Bean soup was delicious and the bread was good even though I didn't get bubbles or split open. For dessert I bought a Turkish snack box. I just wanted to let you know everyone loved the bean soup and they all requested to be added to the menu. Thank you for taking the time to make such easy to follow recipes.
Looks delicious and it's very similar to a Palestinian dish I learned to make in Jordan. We ate it with white rice or pilaf and tomato-cucumber salad. Often, after a few chickens were butchered for a big meal for guests, the cook would save the chicken backs and wings and make a second, cheaper meal with white beans and tomato sauce the following day. I made the Palestinian version for my American father with chicken backs and he loved it. I've also made it with beef. It's a very good way to stretch a meat dish with a bean protein. Thank for the recipe, Alsenyur.
So nice to read in the comments that most people share they have a similar dish, wherever they come from. Morocco also has a similar dish. Especially during wintertime, where i live in Europe, i crave a spicy dish like this and make it extra spicy and ad carrots or pumpkin to it, whatever i have stored in the fridge. As we are speaking, i am making it now with beef😊
This sounds so tasty! My mother-in-law used to make something kind of similar. She used ham instead of beef, with no tomato and basic spices like salt, pepper, and garlic. Other versions of the stew she made DO use tomatoes. I'm definitely going to make this stew when it gets colder!
I want to note a couple of things that I forgot to mention in the video: - The dish called "Kuru Fasulye" in Turkish :) - These are white kidney beans but we have other types too. In Turkish we call them "horoz fasulye" , "Dermason" , "Şeker Fasulye" - Meat and red pepper paste are optional. You can make it vegan too. - As Turk 201 on the comment below said "It is one of the most cooked dishes in Turkey for both rich and poor. "
