    Thanks for deciding to put it up on the tube Graham. As a total noobie to all this I'm surprised that theres so much going on at a stamp show, and pleased to see it. I don't want to ask a stupid question but if anyone can answer this for me I'd appreciate it. I just bought some clear stamp holding pages for a ring binder, just to store the few items I have until I can decide on a decent stamp collection system. But these open on the back which makes inserting stamps extremely difficult. And it get's worse as you move down the rows. I thougth I was going crazy but there's no doubt. The flap that opens to insert the stamps is on the rear of the holder. Surely this can't be right?

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  2 года назад

      Thank you Peter. Glad you enjoyed the episode. Do you have a link to the pages that you bought? I am also curious to see what they look like.... If they are pages with clear mounts, then that makes sense...but if they are like stock pages, then I wouldn't be familiar with these.

    Speaking as a video engineer as well as a philatelist, I have to comment on how this channel sets the gold standard for the quality of the productions. You clearly are familiar with the word "focus". I can't tell you how many videos I've seen with out of focus stamps. I am particularly impressed at how CLEAN the audio is in this video. Every time I hear an off mike echo on broadcast television, I think "Seriously? You couldn't mic your talent?" It's like fingers on a chalkboard.
    If I may ask, what software do you use for your video and audio editing?

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  2 года назад +1

      Wow, thank you William. I'll be honest, sound is one of my greatest challenges, and I'm never too happy with it. It means a lot that you appreciate the production quality, thank you :). For all my video editing (including sound), I use 'Final Cut Pro', software available through Apple.

    Thanks for taking us with you to the show, Graham, looks like a fun time! Upon seeing them, I also thought Pony cars were muscle cars but I guess not. Then I wondered why is it called "pony"? ... Google says it's because 'A mustang is a horse/has a horse in the logo, and the pony car class became defined by the Mustang, its namesake model." The more we know. Thanks for the video!

    • @ExploringStamps
      @ExploringStamps  2 года назад +1

    • @saintelmo46

      A lot of people think a pony is a young horse. No. A pony is a breed of horses that are small (58 inches or less at the withers). In the same way, pony cars are a "breed" of muscle cars that are smaller.

    • @philatelythings4038

    Congratulations Graham on your incredible videos “Exploring Stamps” and the work you have done to promote Philately, mate from all stamp collectors, thank you so much. I can see how you have grown in confidence since that first video in December 2016 brilliant stuff. What I love about your work is how you encourage and interact with your audience from the very young to the experts in field of Philately.
    When someone named Beck walks into Sotheby’s auction house London, and the curator takes out the British Guiana 1c Magenta out of the security case and hands to them to hold, then one could confidentially say you are a valued member of the Philatelic world and well respected.
    Graham, I have been following you for about six months now and today I subscribed you your channel. I especially loved the 2019 episode on, “WW2 Operation Cornflakes” as I am a collector of WW2 and WW1 Stamps specializing in propaganda stamps and espionage related operations.
    Your videos are always upbeat, entertaining, and especially love your discussions with other philatelists’ / colleagues. Mate brilliant work keep it up and congrats.

    CoNgRaTuLaTiOnS on your award! I have really enjoyed your channel this past year as I’ve gotten back into my stamp collecting that I’ve done on and off since I was 10. I’ve never been to a stamp show and hoping this year I can attend the Southeastern Stamp Expo in Atlanta in January 2023 just 3 hours from home. Thank you for your highlights of this fantastic looking show you attended! Incredible! Also, as I’ve gotten more mail from philatelists with lots of stamps on the envelopes, I think my post office gave up the red sharpie marker, as a lot are left uncancelled and I didn’t even have to talk to them! So thankful! Now, I’m going to try to remove my post-2008 stamps with Bestine like you suggested, so wish me luck! Also, I read the Lost Countries book and absolutely loved it! Also read History of Britain and America in Stamps by West and they were good,too! I’ve learned so very much from you this last year! Thank you!

    I collected coins,stamps and baseball cards starting in1959. Back then stamps were #1 hobby followed by coins. Sportcards were a kids thing. Now just look at the crowds at stamp,coin and card shows. Very old folks overall at stamp shows. Coins younger but many of them are bullion stackers only. At card shows kids to senior citizens.Maybe I should sell my set of Zeppelin Plate Blocks and buy some more cards? LOL. I still love all 3 of my hobbies even though they keep me broke!

    Graham, I have a question that I don't know if you want to address here or in your next video. Whenever a stamp is being submitted for new issue, it was my understanding that it is a 5-year review process before consideration and design. They just came out with the James Webb telescope stamp but the telescope was just launched last December; so how are they able to design an issue that stamp so quickly when all others take so much longer? Can you also provide us with more information on the stamp submission process? Thank you so much for your time and efforts.

    I really wish phones recorded in landscape mode by default no matter how you hold your phone. Vertical videos have always annoyed me to the point of I just refuse to watch them no matter how "good the content is". If phones recorded in landscape mode, and there is tech now that all phones can do that by default without needing for the user to do anything different, then good video format could be kept for all videos. Instead, we only get videos that are good for people who are slendermen.
    I know this is a gripe of zero point and it is all in my own hang-up, but vertical videos are a bane to the world.

      You don’t have to watch this video. Vertical ‘portrait’ allows me to do other things that I enjoy, such as presenting content to the side, and easily recording candid moments. Thank you for this comment, I guess?

      @@ExploringStamps My apologies. Love your video series. Has gotten me into doing a bit of stamp collecting. Just a big pet peeve of mine and I was just griping. Been stressful for me and not been handling it well. Was really excited to see another of your videos ... and, well, my own distaste of that video format got in the way.
      Keep making the videos and again, sorry about being a grump.
