Wow, surprising. I ran through a set of AX41's on my ktm 390 adv and a thought they are FANTASTIC on both road and trail. The rear does wear fast, that's the only drawback. I'm trying the Motoz Adventure's now for comparison.
Still like my Shinko 244
Interesting. I was hoping these would be better than the 606 off-road. I’m just spoiled with real knobbies on my dirty bike and just need to accept my klr for the tractor it is.
I've had 2 sets of these on two different ADV bikes and I couldn't disagree more (V-Strom 650 and Tiger 900 Rally). They've been fantastic on all off-road surfaces, and on wet and dry pavement they've been fantastic down way less tread than yours are showing. Durability on the rear was poor, especially on the bigger bike, but small price to pay for great performance.
Hey Curtis, Im running Maxxis 6006 front and rear, have only done 1000or so km but I find them great offroad , a little noisy on the road but they transformed the KLR into a half decent offroader , Hope they still perform well as they wear,
You can't do a long term review for this tyres, they don't last long enough
In your case Curtis ,I would say it's not you ,it's the tires. From your videos, your riding ability isn't in question.
I got 2900 miles out of the stock rear dunlop K750 (could have easily pushed it to 3000) and the stock front still looks almost new at 2900 miles. I weigh around 215 pounds and I run the rear at 33psi and the front at 27psi. Here in the U.S. I can score a K750 rear for $71 shipped from rocky mountain ATV. I do probably 90 percent of my riding on paved roads exploring or commuting/running errands. For my money, $71 to get 2900 miles out of a rear and at least twice that from a front (costs about the same) I'm good with them. Just had a new K750 put on the rear today.
I just fitted an AX41 to the front of my Africa Twin (I couldn't get an Annakee Wild). The Annakee was great everywhere, so I hope this tyre doesn't suck as much as you've said. Cheers, CAM From NZ :)
So what did you installed ? I have Dsport from Tusk, I will say 3000 miles, amazing of road, gravel, dirt, sand, mud…..on road, fine for aggressive knobbies but so noisy….
Thanks for vid mate. Enjoying your work. Love the straight forward honest review.
One my second set of AX41 tubeless on a 1200 Scrambler. Previously used 606, E07, TKC80, Tractionators and Golden Tyres on a number of ADV bikes.
I was tempted to pick up this tire but saw your first impressions and held out. I've been trying to get a TKC 80 front for my KLR 650 for 8 months due to recall and back order. I've given up and I've paired a new TKC 80 rear with a Dunlop D606 Front. I know not ideal to mix tires but I'll be 90% off road, I live 1 mile from the trail head at 9,500' in the Colorado high country. You seem to speak pretty highly of the D606's so I'm going to give them a try. Thanks for the videos, you have the best KLR content and really put the old pig through it's paces!
Great honest review thanks brother 👊
Cheers Curtis.. Worth noting.. Always aware what will work from experience.. Star Vid
Great honest review. I normally run d606 tyres but put 605's on drz400. Mainly for my wife who only does road work. Im just about to get a klr and will run stock tyres out then back to tried and trusted 606's.
Fully agree! Great video.
Good review mate !
Good to hear an opinion on em, was looking.. My Rallz did me 6000m rear on my gen2, hard to beat that tire if it suits your needs
I remember when you put them on and it doesn't seem like it was very long ago at all. Hopefully your next set will perform and last a lot longer.
