I've watched Dave for a long time, going back to when he had that little studio on Late Night on NBC. Rarely have I seen him so taken with a guest. He is truly smitten. Her kindness has really taken hold of him. Great interview.
She might have reminded Dave of a young Teri Garr who he was smitten with for a long time.

I can't believe so many people tried to decode who the songs were about. I always sensed her discomfort and these old bullies (especially Ellen) who wouldnt leave this kid alone. She's got a big heart and stands firm. Good for her.
Funny that Ellen liked to have all these children(7-11 years old)on her show but she NEVER had the greatest singer of her generation-Jackie Evancho-on her show. I tried asking Jackie's mother about that but I never received a reply.

It could be Oud, a popular type of wood that comes from southeast Asia. It is an extremely good smell that makes ínstense and perfumes. It’s used literally everywhere in the Middle East that I know of at least. But I’m guessing she’s not wearing that lol

All these years later, she's still a great performer and an exceptional songwriter. I was so shocked when I found out that her record company brazenly sold all her master recordings to other parties without paying her a cent or getting her permission. Record companies are so greedy. They take most of the revenue from sales, then they have the audacity to demand ownership of all the artist's recorded work, even if they are also the songwriter. Things have to change. Not just for famous people, but for all those wanting to perform and write music. Recording contracts are not sustainable for the long term and the companies haven't realised that CD's are no longer around, and have been replaced by streaming services and digital downloads. Recording contracts are still pretending that they have the overheads that come with physical CD's/Vynals. They need to give singers and songwriters full copyright for their own work, and a higher percentage of sales. They current system is not sustainable. I hope Taylor gets justice for what was done to her. If this can happen to a superstar, then it can happen to any any unwary singer/songwriter.

It’s not hard to write a song.. it’s expensive to push a product and nepotism helps fortunate family members… no past hit writers can just write another hit… if they gave a good song to a nobody with no money or connections… it won’t be a hit…

depends. it can be hard to wrote songs especially such complex and intricate stories like what taylor does and has done since 12. that's definitely not something just anyone could pick up a pen and do. music is a skill and a talent. it's special.
and while yes nepotism, fame, shortcuts. it all helps push a product and milk it for all its worth. you don't absolutely have to already have money and a name. specifically today with social media where literally anyone can go viral and you don't even have to be talented or smart to do so. it's a hard industry, it's a business through and through. but not everything is a lie or only for the 1%. alot of the biggest artists we have don't come from money.
