Social engineering, in the context of information security, is the psychological manipulation of people into performing actions or divulging confidential information.
Social engineers are people who conduct a range of malicious activities to deceive human victims into disclosing personal, or other sensitive information, or gain access to said information. This can be either through digital means (like email) or physically in the real world.
With Social Engineering there are so many types of attacks. Two good controls with the scenario in this video would be:
1. employee screening
2. access control.
Below are some general tips to help prevent common types of social engineering attacks;
Tips:
1. Delete any request for personal information or passwords
2. Reject requests for help or offers of help
3. Set your spam filters to high
4. Secure your devices
5. Always be mindful of risks
