The Pelagos has, objectively, the best metal bracelet on any watch, ever. Except it's not available in steel, only titanium. The BB58 925 looks like a spectacular watch. If Tudor was only in non-Rolex dealers, it would still be a great brand.
Depends how you define cooler. Rolex packs a stronger "oof" for me in terms of heritage and cultural relevancy, but Tudor makes many models which I prefer to Rolex models in terms of looks and feel. So it really depends on your perception of what cool means in terms of watches
RE: Tudor. Couldn’t disagree more. If you really look around - REALLY LOOK - there is little competition for classically designed divers in that price range. I like Oris, had two of them, but the quality of design isn’t there for me. Nor are the movements - with the in-house calibre still not included in Diver 65 range. Aquaracer? Different size and a ‘meh’ design for me. I even prefer the BB58 to Submariners (value retention notwithstanding). Black Bay, with the steel bezel and no-date is less flashy, less in-your-face, much more suited for inconspicuous consumption and younger audience than the slightly old manish (or hedge fund bro) Submariner. Don’t get me wrong - there’s plenty of odd watches in Tudor range. But when they get it right, they really do. If I were to reduce my current collection to 2, I’d happily just own a JLC Master Control and a Black Blau 58 Blue and consider ma myself lucky.
You prefer a "diver" with 200m water resistance, no crown guards and faux rivets on the bracelet. You argue it's for a younger audience, but at the end of the day it's simply for an audience that fail to see value beyond esthetics or the origin of its design. The reason dive watches are popular is because of their practicality and functional design. Remove practicality and functional and you're left with a Black Bay 58. You're simply paying for design.
@@oliverpersson6090 The reason dive watches are popular is purely aesthetic. Who the f***k is actually going diving with a $9k Sub? …or a $4k Black Bay for that matter. For everyday wear, the Tudor is plenty durable.
@@oliverpersson6090 So what’s the reason for the Popularity of the BB58 if not aesthetics? You think it is because people cannot afford a Rolex and for that reason buy a Tudor? I am sure there are plenty different reasons, but I personally really do like the aesthetics of Tudor. I don’t like the faux rivet but they don’t bother me that much. I love the sizing, I like the lack of date, I don’t need crown guards and I am happy about the brushed look and a touch of vintage without having to deal with a vintage but a rather solid modern movement. Where is the issue? It’s fine if you don’t like the look, but I wouldn’t say it’s a watch that is not sufficiently “functional” or “practical”.
I actually started liking Tudor without knowing yet about it's relation to Rolex. Though I agree that the brand wouldn't be where they are now without that foundation
I don’t own a Tudor and I’m not a Tudor fanboy. I think their success is a mix of design and the Rolex name. They can’t just be getting to where they are because of their association with Rolex alone. Their Glamour and Style models aren’t flying off the shelves. The BB is selling well because of its design and then further helped by its affiliation with Rolex. The fact that they are pretty much just the Black Bay company now is surely testament to that.
I don’t know. Some other models are catching up. The 1926 has been popping up a lot lately (after I bought mine 😁), the north flag, as controversial as it was, is now becoming a sought after piece, people really like the rangers, etc.
Alright stop destroying my argument! 😂 I’ve just noticed that the fastrider is no longer on their website, so that must’ve been discontinued. I stand by what I said about the Glamour and Style lines, they need a massive revamp.
Christian. You are back on form. This is the kind of content that you started off doing before you even had the watch franchise and I was addicted to your views on the Omega Speedmaster (the idea of buying the earlier models because they actually had real value and real history and yet they were not being recognised) and lots of other issues for watch collecting. I love the thought experiment. Where are you take the makers name of the watch and simply look at the quality and the features of the watch and judge accordingly. Okay that maybe not what happens in the real world, but you hint that there will be a return to reality at some point.
Hi All, I feel that it is less nepotism and more the shared history and heritage. Through its history Tudor was inextricably linked to Rolex and some of the Rolex shine directly illuminates the brand. You cannot evaluate the Chrono without contrasting it with the Daytona. All the best!
I was having such a miserable day until I watched you two, thanks for the pick me up. Very few videos which I watch from start to finish. Keep up the good work.
Der: Tudor have a reputation for efficiency and value facilitated by selling Rolex cased, strapped, dials and hands etc, but with 3rd party movements which they highly regulated. Consequently, several important military/police buyers bought Tudors in bulk as they ticked every box the (as though they were then) tool watches Rolex supplied, but cheaper. So initially, Tudor got where they were because Hans Wilsdorf created a 'diffusion' line, to plug the gap his already well targeted tool watches hsd varved out. That was then. This is now. Yes they took a while to get back on fire but that was as much down to the 'charity' who own Rolex and Tudor not investing in the brand. Now people buy Tudor because they are Tudor and have a reputation they have earned; the Rolex comment now being an adjoinder as in: "Oh, and you also just know it is part of Rolex so it can't be shit, can it?" All that aside, the Black Bay Heritage line is simply a better looking (subjective but it is, not least cos every hommmarrggge watch is Sub-based so you get design fatigue) and a better tool-wise functioning watch than any Rolex equivalent - not because the Rolex toolers can't compete (they can and they would win) it's the fact that people buy steel sports Rolexes as arm candy, brand statements not as functioning tool watches.

I did pick up a green/bronze Zelos. It was priced well, and I was interested to see how the patina would grow. Green just happened to be the best choice of dial with the bronze case.
I wish that more watch brands would make watches that can be worn on either wrist, meaning there is no up or down. Think about the Tudor Heritage Black Bay with a stick marker instead of the triangle marker at twelve O’Clock. With some creative text placement, this would be an awesome ambidextrous watch.
No, we like Tudor because it's what Rolex used to be in the 70's and 80's. Durable watches with modern design at a (mostly) reasonable price, with no pretense.
I call them color mafia. They all work together for fashion trends. There are actual designers and influencers that decide which color will be hip next year. While I like Rolex watches, I'm not going into the price, grey market and nutty markups to get one. When you can buy a Moser, for the same price as a Batman, it's nuts.
I highly disagree with people liking Tudor only because Rolex told them to. Prime example is the fact they were already on the US market before, did not do well and eventually left the US for an extended period of time. It doesn't matter who your Big Brother is or (parent company, how ever you want to put it) if you don't produce a quality product in what ever product you are selling people aren't going to but it.
I don’t think Tudor would be as popular as it is without the Rolex connection. I have a green Grand Seiko GMT with the high beat movement. What do you think Tudor is releasing Monday?
Pretty much any spinoff brand, up or down market, is leveraging pedigree to increase market share, ideally without diluting the parent brand. You should have another conversation about the appeal of Tudor NOT being Rolex, cause that's certainly a bonus to me, and I imagine others who are looking for stealthier options. No dig to Rolex, but they're one of the most widely recognized brands on the planet, and that comes with some status baggage that could be appealing or repelling.
Love the G-shock, I couldn't care less about rolex, I Love Omega Watches more than anything, but I also think Tudor is a great Brand with bold proposals,
That “boom watchfam” at the end of the intro cheers me up in an inexplicable way every single time! Keep at it the genuine ladies and gents of Theo & Harris!!
No, I completely agree. I’m tired of going on Instagram and seeing people waste their time flipping their watch for a picture. Stick to just making sure your watch is around 10:10 lol
If Tudor was only Tudor because of Rolex, how come none of their other lines besides the Black Bay shot to the moon? The Pelagos, the Ranger, the 1926, etc? If the nepotism is so powerful, shouldn't we all be on a waiting list for a 1926 (whatever that is). Nah, people just know that we're getting a steal on a rolex (tudor) made submariner with snowflake hands for under $4k
The biggest issue with Tudor is simply that people get false hope for the “investment value” of the brand because of Rolex’s value. They think Tudor can give them that. It can’t. That’s not the goal of Tudor.
Would you buy the AP Black Panther if you're a successful rapper with a young fanbase? Would a Patek & Rolex competitor like the attention and popularity that comes with their watches being worn by musician/pop star millionaires?
You are 100% correct with Tudor. And its a phenomenon that only takes place with watch enthusiasts - if you ask the average person who doesn't know much about watches, they likely will never have even heard of Tudor before
I think Tudors association with Rolex helps a lot, but they have backed that up with heritage, great design and extremely competitively priced models with great power reserves and either in house movements or damn good partnerships like the B01 with Breitling. As for Ad’s having integrity, sure they do exist but ultimately if a customer is spending $200k a year and flipping, realistically the AD is a business and will take their custom as it pays the bills. Would they rather sell to someone that loves the piece and will keep it? Of course they would but this way they have the demand lined up, can sell when it suits them for financial and tax reasons and still have you coming back for more. The demand over availability is building Rolex prestige with their aim of moving into the PP market space, leaving a Tudor shaped gap behind them.
Highly entertaining and free wheeling, philosophical camaraderie . It's an age thing, I now wear my watch 'upside down' it's easier for the medics to check my pulse. (If I was wearing that AP batman monster I would be dead before they could read the time.)
Saw the Rolex waitlist and went to Omega Boutique instead. Tudor IMHO is a spill over from the Rolex waitlist. Most spill over people I suspect will fall out of love with Tudor. Rolex brand power extraordinary and here to stay for a long time. IWC, JLC, Omega, A. Lange and Signed are equally prestigious without the major waitlist.
Well, the Tudor design wouldn't exist without Rolex and we are all trained to like the Submariner look hence the success of Tudor. Maybe not the only reason but part of it for shure.
Unpopular opinion from a part time watch photographer - watch dials and logos are made to be seen in an upright position, when the watch is upside down on a wrist shot the watch itself looks weirder. I'm not saying that you should flip the watch on the wrist before taking the shot, but there are more creative poses out there that show the watch on the best possible way - 12 o'clock up with brand logos visible and legible!
I agree that Tudor's cache is very much tied to Rolex. However, they have some great brand heritage of their own (I love vintage Tudors). I'd guess the "second victory lap" of the Nautilus could include new movement, maybe a redesigned/new look bracelet, and a new reference number beginning with 6. That said, you've been teasing the return of Liquor Run for quite a while to include the Cork strap. My suggestion is that you work hard to close the deal with Rolly's representatives. Word on the street is that the Timepiece Gentleman has upped his latest offer to include a Lamborghini. Please get on it!
Not true at all , Tudor has excellent aesthetics and excellent movements. Their watches stand on their own. Pelagos is the best value in its class. Black Bay and Black Bay 58 are excellent offerings.
Hi, this is Tak, who is also not the Curator of the Theo and Harris watch shop, but I make some killer scrambled eggs. Tudor is cool. Tag is not. AP jumped the shark. Green IS good. That is all.
Tudor was always known to be the sister company to Rolex and it was mostly always boring unless they started to form their own identity which somehow started with the release of the Northflag and being successful a little later with the Blackbays and entirely changed their marketing from boring and unrecognized or not done to using Ambassadors, using videos etc…..Also with the Northflag they started their “in house” clockworks but at that time did not have today’s marketing in place which made the Northflag to be discontinued recently. However I think this is a great watch, underrated and the start[oint of all. After that using the “in house” movements being used in the BB’s etc. combined with a modern marketing they went on….and one has to say their marketing is quite different to Rlx. Somehow D
You should make a video covering watch brands that have maid their own unique bracelets for their line. Rolex would obviously own the Oyster and Jubilee design so anybody with the same design would not be featured. Tag Heuer makes their "H" link bracelet and the bracelet to their Link watch.
I’m the opposite: would not consider Tudor for years because Rolex has lost control of their distribution (sorry Christian, the ADs you know are the exception to the rule - most know their sales guys are selling to their buddies to flip and getting a cut). But did enough research then held a few at the AD, now a extremely happy BB Pro owner with a Pelagos 39 arriving in a few weeks. PS - hate earth tones so no browns or greens.
The only time you don't look like you're buying a tutor because you can't afford a Rolex is when you get a unique case material like titanium or bronze or silver.
Christian in all honesty if you are the curator of the Theo & Harris Shop, is your chest hair the carpet mat at the entrance that says 'Welcome' because ...... well I'm not sure if it's inviting or if it makes me wonder if the Theo & Harris Shop is for 'other' services ;)
Could have, and probably should have, just made a mostly black watch with a touch of purple and the indices as the spiked necklace the panther wears. Subtle but if you know you know kind thing.
Green started years ago and is now out of control just like blue previously. Had a 2018 GO sixties green dial, great watch but sold for profit thanks to the green hype!
The AP Code 11.59 are nice when seen in person. The rose gold version with the burgundy dial is amazing. The Black Panther watch is a joke and seems like something Hublot would create, not from a watch house from the likes of AP.

The green Glashutte Original Senator Sixties panodate has the most striking dial I’ve ever seen, and it’s a relative bargain
Check some of the new Seiko presage cocktail time 👍🏼
@@Leo1990XXI I own the SRPB41J1 - great watch! But the dials don’t even come close to comparing
Snap to 3:13 to avoid the inane bromance/chat prior to that. The discussion on O'Turd starts there and ends at around 8:56.
Much appreciated bro.
I have stopped watching these videos years ago. But the header alone gets a thumbs up from me. Word!
The AP Black Panther is a bit ridiculous but when I saw a video on it ‘in the metal’, I was surprised at how great it looked.
“It feels uncomfortable... like a glove full of lotion” 🤔
The day date Cristian is wearing is a great looking watch
Love the G-shock, I couldn't care less about rolex, I Love Omega Watches more than anything, but I also think Tudor is a great Brand with bold proposals,
I'm in love with your interlude music 🎶
That “boom watchfam” at the end of the intro cheers me up in an inexplicable way every single time! Keep at it the genuine ladies and gents of Theo & Harris!!
Love the delirious reference! 😂 I love the green trend too! 🙏🏻
Hahahahahha you didn’t get none, you can’t afford it!!!
@@TheoandHarris imagine how much of that show would be cutout if they tried to release it today! 😂
Telling it like it is and saying the thing that everyone else is afraid of saying. Love it!
Kanye was wearing a similar white G shock square in the video for Homecoming.
11:53 Christian with the throw back Eddie Murphy reference.
Brilliant! keep up the good work.
Really good episode, guys. Thanks much!
I love how the watch Christian is wearing perfectly (unintentionally) foreshadowed what Patek was about to do with the 5711 as the last hurrah
The biggest issue with Tudor is simply that people get false hope for the “investment value” of the brand because of Rolex’s value. They think Tudor can give them that. It can’t. That’s not the goal of Tudor.
That TAG Heuer Monaco seems to be “inspired” by the recently released green Royal Oak🤔
Any thoughts on Fortis? Any good?
great video! re 5711 Platinum?
When was this taped? During winter or summer? Mike’s got a sweater. But Christian got a summer short sleeve shirt! Uhmmm. who’s off there?
Anyone else always hears: "Theo and Hari Swatch Shop"?
Green is also my favorite color, but I don't want a green watch. Blue for my watches, a little more subtle and matches everything.
LOL @ "teleprompter here with all my opinions" XD XD
Hi, this is Tak, who is also not the Curator of the Theo and Harris watch shop, but I make some killer scrambled eggs.
Tudor is cool.
Tag is not.
AP jumped the shark.
Green IS good.
That is all.
this combo.. amazing! So fun to watch
Interesting video. Regards.
Somehow D
If l were you two, I'd forget watches and go on the comedy circuit
You should make a video covering watch brands that have maid their own unique bracelets for their line. Rolex would obviously own the Oyster and Jubilee design so anybody with the same design would not be featured. Tag Heuer makes their "H" link bracelet and the bracelet to their Link watch.
PLEASE REVIEW the new Tudor Black Bay 58 in 18k gold and green specifically.
Tudor is nice. But I just can’t get behind the snowflake hand!
This!
I only have one green watch but I did get it because it was green (the OP color Rolex discontinued last year).
The only time you don't look like you're buying a tutor because you can't afford a Rolex is when you get a unique case material like titanium or bronze or silver.
An Oris Aquis is not the same price range as a new black bay or bb58. Not really a fair comparison at all.
Seems like they are having a theme like 'cold' and 'hot'. One in long sleeves the other in short sleeves with neckline so low.
Got my watch with a green dial a month ago: Seiko Presage Mojito Cocktail. Can't stop looking at it. I am a big fan of all the new green dials.
Could have, and probably should have, just made a mostly black watch with a touch of purple and the indices as the spiked necklace the panther wears. Subtle but if you know you know kind thing.
I’ve been waiting for the AP Code 11:59 with the blue fume dial for four months so far. Ironically, I received my 2021 Sub Date in 75 days. Go figure.
I must be tripping, does Christian seem to mimic Wei Koh from the way he stutters to his choice of shirts?
Oh jeez time flies when watcing this type of vids
Another great video guys!
I bought a green orient kamasu 2 years ago, love it but I feel it’s over used in luxury watches these days. Some work some don’t.
