Great video- I guess you can only hope that chips from the impeller don't circulate around then get stuck in the head ports somewhere and restrict the water flow..... I had that happen to me years ago on another vehicle causing a serious overheating issue....
That’s what I was a little worried about. But the only way to find out is to either run it and see or remove the heads. Pulling the heads on these coyote engines isn’t real easy so we opted to just run it and see. He has been driving it daily for a year after this repair and no issues. Thank goodness!
2017 with 5.0, 117898.0 miles… about to put the second water pump on it…. Replaced the o ring in the y pipe 3 times and just put a radiator in it. Worst truck I have ever owned as far as coolant related issues. Other things struts shocks etc… I would expect. But the cooling end has been ridiculous.
Hi Pete I have a question for anyone who maybe able to answer. I was driving yesterday and my heat went cold and my temp jumped up but then it went back down. I am not leaking fluid and it was a little low (1/2 Gallon) Would a bad water pump cause this type of issue? Or would it be the Rad is going bad. Incase anyone wants to know the Duralast from Autozone has a metal sprocket not a composite.
If you're going to replace your water pump, save yourself time and replace the heater hose assembly 'Y' pipe and the upper radiator hose while you're in there. I replaced my pump and two days later the Y pipe started leaking. Great video though! 2016 F-150 XLT 5.0 and only 96,000 miles. Do better Ford!!!!!!!!!
My 2016 F-150 lost its water pump on Monday. It shed the bearings and all the antifreeze drained out while driving towing a trailer at 70mph. It threw the belt as the shaft completely wobbles. What a POS design!
My 2017 went bad, almost put back together, great video thanks
Good video, Pete.
Thanks buddy!

My 2014 with 200K miles had the exact same thing happen. the water pump I removed looks just like yours.

Hey pete my tahoe got a code P0442? When i start it i hear a light tick but its not coming from inside the engine
I have a 2015 5.0 with 300k miles , still no water pump issues but want to change the y” pipe because I heard that goes , still no leaks

What did you spray on the pulleys to clean off the coolant?
Brake cleaner. I use it to clean everything.
What part did you use? Thank you
I used a Murray water pump from my local Oreilly’s.

My 2015 f150 5.0 has a tapping noise from the somewhere in the front. Did your water pump make a tapping noise coning from it? 81,000 miles
probably your throttle valve tapping fords are famous for that
Pete, what did you spray on the pulleys?
Just brake cleaner. I don’t like to put anything on a belt or pulleys. Things like belt dressing are just band aid fixes for an actual problem.
@@PetesGarageandperformance thank you!
My best comment wny is it not electric now
And why does Coyote look like Frankenstein .

Mine just did this today - luckily no trailer attached!
2013 5.0 with 330 thousand miles finally having to put a water pump on
