I I had this tablet last year but I can't remember if it was the 8 or the 8A. It was on clearance at Walmart I decided to buy it but I took it back because something came up I needed the money but the little experience I had with it was it was pretty good
I've been having no success so far with any of the one click root options. This really sucks. The display model had 5.0.1 on it and three is TWRP recovery for that but not for 5.1.1. The and thing is that mine has 6.0.1 on it. I was told that I am the only one that has that. I can't even find 6.0.1 firmware for this freaking thing. I'm stumped.
David Hayes That's the only thing about a brand name that isn't supported that much... It's not like a nexus 9 where you find everything easy because so many people are using those devices...
Brad Nerdy Nay I'll tell ya what man, there is a tool out called "kitchenS" it's a custom version of Android kitchen which is a rom building/modding tool and that's what I use to build TouchWiz roms. You do have to be running a linux distro though. you can either do it via a Virtual Box or run Ubuntu Mate on a separate drive like I do it. I have 2 hard drives in my PC, one for Windows 10 and the other has Ubuntu Mate 16.04 on it. Frankie T has an awesome rom build setup list with all the commands in it and all you have to do is open a terminal and copy and paste the commands and hit enter. it's that simple. With his tools you can build PN IT any other AOSP rom. If you decide to give it a try, just ask Frankie or my self and you will get some help.
Nick Beckman it's really nothing to it. You flash the bootloader and radio zips and flash the rom you want. That's all I did. I will see if I can locate the TWRP flashable bootloader zips for you.
Nick Beckman here is the XDA link to all of the radio zips and all the way at the bottom of the list is the latest bootlaoder zip that you flash in TWRP recovery. And you can flash back if you want as well. but you can only flash back and forth between nougat and marshmallow. forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3066052
The difference between the two are the OS. The 8a is running 6.0.1 and the 8 is running an older build. From what the dev tells me, that made the root for this tablet, he recommends the 8a. After owning both I would say that is the better tablet too. I would have kept mine if I knew that he figured out how to root it back then. But I thought root was only available for the 8 and not the newer 8a.
Brad Nerdy Nay That was sent to me along with his phone to fix from John. It's a nice screen wipe. It's made of a soft material and didn't scratch the screen. And it has Batman on it... Awesome..
this tablet is a bad choice I recommend the 8 not the 8a I have owned both and the 8a gaming performance is garbage many apps just crash waste of 70 dollars if you're looking for a cheap gaming device
Robert Jackson I don't recommend either of them. I would take that money to Amazon and get a Fire Tablet 7 inch. I own 3 of them and they are the fastest tablet in this price range.
Robert Jackson if you get one and want to root it and run CM12.1 or RR in it don't let it update. There are links to an awesome tool from Rootjunky.com that will allow you to do so much more with the cheap but powerful tablets.

Brad Nerdy Nay You got that right.... I was spoiled...lol... now I have to do all this for my self. But to be honest, I don't mind.
David Hayes That's admirable! I haven't tried to build my own ROM or anything like that yet! I guess it's not hard so long as you know the process
