Bought this just before your first review came out. Even after a reset, any sd card I put in there would fail to be detected. I did not bother with it and just used it for Flipboard And RUclips since this isn't my main tablet. I also encountered the mentioned slow downs. Eventually I have it to a nephew who'd use it for RUclips kids.
Louis Zapata oh wow my apologies I should've tested out a microsd card on this tablet even though you bought it before me. For $30 i thought it was pretty nice gicen the price, but still lots of problems.
I have one it's not the best but I found out that if I downgrade some apps it works well. Apps that need the latest apps will be sluggish but I don't expect much from it due to the specs
I have that tablet and it freezes and overheats when I play any online game except for Minecraft (in some servers, others freeze)idk what's happening but I hope there's a fix for it
I bought one of these but it put itself in reboot mode and now I can't get it out of reboot mode, any ideas on what to do? I can turn it off but it goes back to reboot when I turn it on.EFun had no answers for me. Thanks
Good video. i almost always use my phone for everything. i want to print from it. Do you use your phone enough to discuss using it almost as a computer? Favorite APP's, etc.
Can you help me fix mine? I found it after a long time (my grandma hid it for punishment) and i charged it, and happily powered it on, and I was disappointed. It said "Android boot failed." What do I do???
Hey Underground any chance you can do a video on that $20 water bottle speaker from Walmart? I know it's not traditional tech you do but it's cheap and ideal and something different for you to try. Just a thought
I had problems with Asphalt 8 Airborne myself...in fact it was so annoying, I just removed it. I'm thinking that's a ram limitation more than anything 8 is a BIG game, that must be installed on the actual internal storage as I recall. Asphalt nitro works mo better. All my other games run well, and I've been playing War Robots on it a lot. i'm very happy you lets us know when it was on sale....I think it was a great bargain for the $31 I paid!!! Very happy with it so far. (largely compared to my other android tablet, the RCA Voyager III which is dead slow in comparison) Heat has not been an issue for me, it does get warm, but not uncomfortably so. What can be annoying is the screen brightness throttling that I believe you mentioned in another video. It doesn't always do it, but when it does while I'm playing War Robots it's annoying.
It could be the RAM and honestly I feel like we should've have 1.5 GB RAM in tablets at $50 from last year. The other thing could be possibly due to the lack of optimization on Intel processors. P.S. I put the google doc in the description for your analysis on the battery life comparison, thanks again!
Moreland Lawrence hey try playing asphalt again but this time turn off the WiFi. I noticed games play a lot better with the WiFi disabled which sucks but it definitely helps. Basically soon as something starts downloading in the background that's what causes games to crash
I might give that a go, unfortunately I've started to have problems with the SD-Card slot/reader in the device, so I will probably be looking for another device.
Moreland Lawrence wow that sucks I currently have the tablet so far I don't have issues with a SD card. Yeah turning off Wifi really helps because example: Mortal Kombat X kept freezing and low frame rate but when I turned off the wifi the game played a lot smoother. Another thing you can do is go to the Play Store setting and disabled automatic updates this keeps information from installing in the background which causes the tablet to freeze
The 8 is much better then the 8a I had both and the 8a feels plastic and cheap and my charging port gave out on me last week I should of known not to get it seeing as the regular 8 cost more then the 8a
I has a nextbook area 8 that's lollipop & is awesome still after being 6+ years old & I has a nextbook area 8a that's Sposed to have nougat but for some reason mine still has the lollipop & no updates available despite it saying ares8a on the box & advertising marshmallow on the box it still only had lollipop & no available updates either despite it being less than 3 years old the ares8a tablet is both newer & slower & comes with a new Uber annoying dimmer screen that dims approximately every 3 seconds despite downloading several apps like battery doctor that lets you choose if/& how long till it dims as well as the situation for the dim like if your USB to a computer or charging or you've left the screen untouched for c amount of time but no matter what I do it dims like every 3 second like click your browser to do a google search & it'll just about show you the Google bubble & in the time it takes to bring up your google keyboard to type in a search query heck before ya type the first letter in that search the screen will dim then even more annoying after ya press power to bring the screen back on it takes you to a draw a pattern/unlock screen like ya just turned on the ares8a & when ya go to continue your typing of your search you'll notice the keyboard is now gone & so ya click the Google search bubble to type the next letters in your search & if the words are short you'll finish if not or if ya need to watch a tutorial on another device Everytime ya look away it'll dim & if for some miracle you seem to keep it from dimming the keyboard will repeated keep dropping out before you can fully type in your full search inquiry. It also will dim in really Inopportune times let alone repeatedly during the set up & initial downloading & when the tablet dims during a device to device blutoothing sharing to the ares8a from another device & it dims it'll also disconnect the blutoothing when it dims. As a result of all the lag as well as the Uber annoying repeatedly dimming almost constantly I kinda hate my Nextbook Ares8A But My 3+ Years Older Nextbook Ares8A Doesn't Dim At All & Games Play With Like Zero Lag But It Too Has A Draw Back of Being Stuck In Lollipop with not a single update in the 6+ years I've had it. I wanna try that manual updating after rooting it but Iz afraid of bricking it & losing all my stuff on it as there's 6+ years of games alone & since I've never rooted anything before I doubt my ability to be able to easily do it without fragging the whole thing & just the thought of losing either my $65 (the Price I paid At Walmart Less Than 3 Years Ago for the Ares8A possibly on sale or the $85 the Ares8 was definitely not on sale 3+ years earlier & the Ares8 still does loops round the Ares8A tablet. If given the rathers of getting a used Ares8 with lotsa wear & tear or a brand new still in the box Ares8A I'd go with the Ares8 over the Ares8A as it should be a step up from it's predicessor tablet instead it's a step down from it's predicessor tablet which is just so dang lame when ya think back to how cool the Ares8 was as a result Ares8A just seemed just that more of a let down by comparison.
Moreland Lawrence sent his in depth analysis on a day of battery life on this vs the Voyager III - goo.gl/pN5oXT

Louis Zapata P.S. Digging the mustache
Louis Zapata maybe you have a bad unit or a faulty SD card because I also have this tablet and the card inside mine works
I have one it's not the best but I found out that if I downgrade some apps it works well. Apps that need the latest apps will be sluggish but I don't expect much from it due to the specs

Flojoe6274 Good question, it's a no for me because im using the old Galaxy Note 3. That's why I want to try to grab the Huawei Sensa
