Seeing the current exchange rates, Japan could’ve charge ¥310,000 JPY if they wanted to but they decided to be nice and charge about half of that. Unfortunately, me living in the US usually see the high $2,100 price tag for those Namiki Emperor pens.
160,000 yen with tax, but you can get a refund of the tax at the store, so it comes to 144,000 yen which is about $1100 USD these days. Compared to $2100 at US retailers.
@@thomascampanis Hi Thomas. There are many on my list I haven't made it to yet, but Itoya in Ginza was good; Maruzen Nihombashi - where I got ths pen - also has a nice selection. I'd go to Eboya as I love ebonite pens and have one of theirs I ordered directly from them online, although I haven't made it to the store yet. Ancora, also in Ginza, lets you assemble your own relatively inexpensive steel-nibbed Sailor pen; they were closed the one time I made it over there. And many more.....
It's about half price in Japan at the current USD exchange rate. I thought about starting a side business with Japanese pen products, but I'm not there yet. Hopefully you can use find a way to make a trip out of it and enjoy Japan and this awesome pen!
I got an M nib; it came in F-M, M, or B. I have a tuned Sailor KoP that is buttery smooth; this pen has a bit of feedback with the smoothness. I really enjoy writing with it.

So go to Japan, buy the pen there and use the savings to pay for your ticket! :)
What was the size of the nib, i.e., F, M, Broad? Never mind, I just saw the previous remark. Is this medium similar to the pilot custom 823 M?
Yes, it's an M. It seems quite similar to the 823 M.
hehe :D landed the Emperor
I knew I was going to like this pen, but I had no idea how much! Watched a lot of reviews (including yours) before taking the plunge.
How much is the pen in the Japan? I am thinking about making a trip of it as well and knowing the difference in price would help make that decision.

@@astromanager Yes, that is quite a difference. Almost pays for the plane ticket.
@@thomascampanis Yup! Hope you find a way to make it happen!
@@astromanager so I’m actually working on making the trip happen. Which pen stores would you recommend visiting?

is it cheaper if I were to purchase from Japan? If so, when you heading back; I'll cash app you for one for me.
