This is exactly the accent I would expect from someone who can own these pens. Jokes aside, thanks for the rare look at something most people never get to see!
Thank you so much for a wonderful review of a pen that is seldom seen! As others here have said, this is a work of art, so disparaging it because it is a pen kind of misses the point. Please keep posting these, and don't be discouraged by those who don't get it.
Thanks! Well the good news is I've managed to get my hands temporarily on quite a lot more where that came from, and will start posting lots more reviews in the very near future of similar pens :)
Thank you very much for inviting me in to experience and not just see your beautiful Japanese pen. We often forget to appreciate that art, culture and craftsmanship are universal in nature. And can never be financially priced with economic value. Only by heart.
This was one of the most fascinating pen videos I have ever seen. In the past, I frequently travelled to Japan and saw some wonderful pens, but few were as gorgeous as this one. I could never contemplate buying one for myself, but I admire those who can and are prepared to share these stunning pieces of art - and practical penmanship- with others. Thank you once again!
Glad you enjoyed it! It was my first review video so the content is much less organised than the others, but it touches on more areas :) It is a truly lovely pen and I spent 15 minutes earlier today studying it with a loupe and marvelling at the detail.
I am amazed you would set it down on the table without a soft pad underneath it... . Guess I'm not ready for a pen of that caliber! Very beautiful, I'm so glad you can enjoy it. A real piece of art :-) and still very funtional too.
Thanks for the comment - Urushi is very hard (and the table quite soft compared to the pen), the only real danger would be if you have a hard floor and it drops off a desk onto that. When I do videos of the pens I put a barrier around the edges of the desk or surface they are on so even if they roll they won't fall anywhere :)
I got the goldfish before I saw all these others which I now post, and even after holding rare pens that cost more than ten times as much, the goldfish remains one of the very very best pens and I love writing with it.
No, at the moment the effort of video taking, photographing and compiling them is huge and I can barely keep up to my 1 per week target. At the point where all 75 or so Namikis which I've been able to record are done then I'll probably start on instagram!
@@JapansPerfectPens Thank you so much. Nakaya is one of my favourite Japanese brands, next to Eboya! If you enjoy Maki-e you should certainly check out stylo art. They have a superb range of Maki-e Pens. Maybe not to Namiki's level, but not far off! And certainly, they present an excellent price point. I am always on the hunt for independent Maki-e artists and have found a few on Instagram that I hope to commission at some stage.
@@PenFriends I do find the different styles of Maki-e very interesting, seen quite a lot of Danitrios and a few AP Limited Editions and they are so different from each other. At some point I'll do a comparison of the new Pelikan Maki-e pens against similarly sized Yukari Royale ones as I managed to get my hands on some for review.
@@PenFriends I occasionally scan through the stylo website but I've not seen one in the flesh. At the moment I've about 12 months backlog of Namiki stuff to write up reviews for but hopefully the world starts to open up again and I can get back to Japan to see some new stuff as well :)

You're most welcome, I'm very happy to share my love of these pens.
Really appreciate your time & effort making these videos. I am buying the owl one. As you said, just an incredible piece of art.
Stunning. Thank you for sharing and going into such detail.
Wonderful pen. You must be very proud of your collection having such a beauty. Excellent image quality as well.

Thank you for this review! Would love to see more reviews of pens you'd otherwise never see in video
Thanks! Well the good news is that your wish is about to be granted and lots of things are about to appear here.
Many thanks for a look at a work of art.
Great review! I am very jealous of your very beautiful pen. It certainly lives up to the emperor name especially the maki-e versions
I feel you need that emperor goldfish in your life!

Amazing review! Thanks for this.
I really enjoyed this review! What an incredible piece of art :)
Thank you! It is exactly that, my portable piece of art that also happens to be a pleasure to write with. I'm still in awe of it.
Aesthetic work of art! Thanks for showing it to us!
A pleasure! I really enjoying sharing all these things as I love this art form and they are so hard to find in shops outside Asia.
I love my japanese pens! Pilots and platinums....but this is above my price point
I am so happy that someone shares these beautiful items.I also have two, urishi 50 ang namiki chinkin owl. I hope someday Ialso have goldfish.

@@JapansPerfectPens then I know what is my next pen XD
Hi do you have instagram to share these amazing pens?

@@JapansPerfectPens wow I'm so happy about watching your collection。THanks a lot
Pens over a certain price are bought for aesthetics. You're buying artwork at this level.
Absolutely, happily it is also artwork that does a fabulous job as a pen as well :)
PS love your Nakayas, I've my first on order at the moment.

@@JapansPerfectPens I look forward to that, have you ever seen stylo art ? Or sone of the independent makie artists out there?

I can't believe you actually inked it.
I really don’t like feeling jealousy.
Seems a waste to own such a beautiful pen when your handwriting is so pedestrian. All due respect.
