- This will be an unofficial entry into the @poorboysrc speed run challenge. The run went well but you will have to take my word for it as the video got deleted and lost before editing. I tried and tried to get it back, but it was not usable once I got the file back. Anyway, here is me telling you all how it went LOL!!
One of these days I will get my self together and be a professional at this… LOL I can’t even say it without laughing at myself!
You guys are all awesome and I appreciate all the great comments and questions from everyone. Really enjoying talking to you all in the comments section.

Dang that data dump. I lost 4 or 5 albums filled with pictures before I used Google photos backup. Haven't done action shoots yet. I saw my M03 Cooper do Ludicrous speed and it was nuts! Till it hit a 6 inch wide 3 inch deep channel cut inexplicably in the back of the parking lot. It looked like the crash at the beginning of The 6 million $ man. Lol😱 But it only tore both rear shocks apart. I hunted for 2 hours till dark and never found one spring and 2 retainers. I think they went into orbit.
I was pretty mad at myself for deleting it but I did get back out with it this weekend. I am glad the camera I recorded it as it did not end well. It came home in a bag of parts sadly. That will be tomorrow's video. I completely understand about the missing parts, I was not able to find a few of mine as well. Like you said, sent off into orbit I think!
Nice Addam impressive I'm having a hard time getting into the speed runs this year for some reason I think my mind is in construction and boats lol
Thanks Brent! Yeah I get it, you have been super busy with all that stuff and creating the little construction zone for you and Pete the Pirate to play around with. A much better use of your time is spending the fun times with him!
Sounds like the bank manager from south Park and it's gone, so frustrating when that happens especially the effort packing up travelling there and then no footage absolutely sux, 62 is an impressive run though nice work take care and chill out a bit mate have a great week 👊

Pretty much and it was made morse by the fact I deleted it. I was more frustrated with myself then anything. I have been trying to get out with it again this weekend but we have had strong thunderstorms every evening for the last 3 or 4 days so the roads are all wet and that is not great for traction at all! LOL! I have plenty of time and it will be back out on this setup as I need to have it documented for some reason (I can't let go) and then I will get the new motor swapped into it. I have had a nice chill weekend so all is good. I hope yours was a good one as well! Take care mate.

These things happen to everyone,and much of the time the fault lies with the equipment rather than the human.
We've had many lost and corrupted files..... So I feel your pain,it's highly frustrating.
On a more positive note,the car done a very quick time..... And that will only go upwards once you get that new motor in.
Your doing better than us mate..... All we have is a chassis!
Currently having major issues sorting the rockets in time,there is a 3 week waiting backlog......that doesn't give us long. 😩

Thanks James, I was mostly angry with myself. That and it actually drove really well, aside from the few tumbles. It never is fun when footage is lost but for something I can never do again, the intro with the prefect car and the actual first runs really sucks. not like the talking head parts I could go back down and record again and all would be good. It is what it is and I just have to make sure it does not happen again. All in all just a inconvenience so it will be back out this weekend for another run. I think I am going to run the same setup and get that documented and then swap out electronics. Both for some more practice driving it and so it won't be a fisherman's tale of what it can do! LOL! It'll make me feel better.

@@starwarsnerd9250 I was pretty mad at myself! If it were just a corrupt file it is what it is but me knowing I goofed it up made it worse. It did well and 61 was a great speed. You will have to watch Wednesday's video this week. There is video of it driving this time with an exciting twist in there!!

It happens but know I deleted it and could not get it back made it much more frustrating. I got it back but the file was corrupted and was not able to be repaired and played. Such a pain but it will be back out for another run in this setup. I need to have it documented instead of being a fisherman's tale! Then I will toss the faster motor in and go for more! Shame about the footage 😞 it happens unfortunately 😢 still done a good speed run IMO I'm sure you will find a better day and get a little more out of it .

Yes, I know it happens but when you know you deleted the footage then it stings a lot more! LOL! I am good now and still needed to get out with again, It rained a bunch this weekend so every morning it was too wet to go out. Which was fine, I got some building and organization done so that was fun. I am going to get back out with it in this configuration as I need to have have it one video for some reason to make me feel better! Then I will stick the spicy motor into it! 60 is a great start. Your dt02 last run was super stable i thought. I hope this rig doesnt spend too much time on its roof
Thanks! It did pretty well, it is a lot more twitchy until you get it going fast. once up to speed it did well. All the tumbles were at the end trying to slow it down, not the best braking system so I will try and improve on that LOL! It will be back out this weekend for another run. Hey Addam, I think we all know the frustration of downloading footage to find out that it has been corrupted. Anything going over 45 mph is a little sketchy with short wheel base vehicles. Just happy it came back in one piece.

I feel I need to get a good recording of it for my sake and then move on to the faster motor. Either way it is going to video and I am not deleting anything until the video is live on YT and then I can clear it from the SD cards! LOL!

It was just such a kick in the nuts to know I deleted the file and not able to get it back. I was able to finally get it back but it was not a useable file so all that effort was wasted. It sucks but the car is still running fine and will make another run soon. I just really wanted to get a run in books so I could focus on some other stuff. The joys of content creation! LOL!

Ive been there to many times, a few events ive been to ive lost all the footage, and as im a technophobe, i wouldnt know where to start to try and find it. So it stays lost 😂
Yeah it is never a good time but knowing I deleted made it worse. If I had deleted it from the computer it is really easy to get back, deleting from the SD card makes it harder and I was able to get it back but it was corrupted and not able to be played or edited. Gone forever...
I will not delete anything until the video is live on YT! I bought a few extra SD cards to make sure I am able to keep the old video footage longer just in case! It will get back out for another run this weekend, weather allowing!

It happens. Now the initial ouch of sliding on the lid are lost but tons of time to create new crash videos. 😊
Very true, the scratches are already done so now it is grip it and rip it time! LOL! I will probably go back out with this setup as it will make me happy to have video of it and not just the fisherman's tale of the run! LOL! Than I will go with the 7700kv and then throw 3s at it and pray it survives that! LOL!!!

Dude, I was so mad at myself for that. I could lose a talking part where I could go back downstairs and re-record it, I had to lose the run video I cannot replace. The car is fine aside from some scuffs and I will get it back out this weekend for another rip. I may leave this setup in it to document it as is since it did really well like this. Also a little intimidated by the 7700kv swap as the 6500kv run was already a little sketchy! LOL! Either way there will be an official run next week!
I feel your pain, Addam! This has happened to me a couple of times in the past, I cut files from the memory card and paste onto my PC - the next day they have gone! So now I always copy and paste and leave the files on the memory card for a while, exactly as you described. It's the only way to be safe. Anyhow, 61 is an awesome start, can't wait to see it with that faster motor! All the best! :)
Thanks Mark, I was kicking myself so hard that day! Normally I copy paste then and then verify they are playable and get them copied over to the editing software before deleting them from the card. I had about 4 videos worth of clips on that card (not a good practice either) and thought I had done it for all the clips so I wiped the card. I missed one very important clip! I will just have to go out this weekend and do it again. It ran super well and did take a few tumbles but overall it was great, just wish you could have seen it! LOL!

It was trucking and a shame you guys couldn't see it. It is a twitchy little beast! I may make another run with this one but I am not sure yet. I know this will run successfully without killing it, the 7700 may end up with some more dramatic crashes! LOL!
@AddamsPlayground you know me. Overpower it and send it. Both results make me happy, either a glorious crash or a new pb speed. Just like to play when I can

It was more frustrating knowing I screwed up and deleted it. I got the file back but it was not viewable. It sucks but the car.is fine and there is plenty of time to get more runs in. I think I may go back out with this set up as I know it will make a clean pass. I think the 7700kv is going to be a bit harder to get a clean run in. I just want to get on the boards with a good run! It won't happen again though, I am not deleting anything until the video is live on RUclips from now on!!

What kv brushless motor would you recommend in the tamiya thundershot?
I say it would usually fall into the 3200-4000kv zone and you can adjust the gearing if needed. personally I would go with the 3200 range as you can gear it up for a bit more speed if needed. 4000 is a bit spicy for my taste and it is going to give you a ton of wheel spin and speed but it will make it a handful to drive, especially on the stock tires. Obviously you can gear down the 4000kv as well but a slower and more grunt is usually better, at least for my style.

Thanks guys! I was more mad as it was something I did and couldn't fix. If it were just a corrupted file or something I can't control that but deleting it was all my fault. In the end it is not that big of a deal and I will get back out with it for another run this weekend. I may run this setup again just to document it as reality and then do the upgrade! That and I know it will run well with this motor and not be too crazy, the 7700kv motor has me worried as it is going to be a real handful art those speeds! LOL! It is a twitchy little thing! Sorry for the issues. Dang..that would really drive me nuts as I’m sure you’re experiencing. But 61MPH! Wow…awesome. With footage I have a bit of a crazy system. Everything I shoot never leaves the camera until it’s backed up on two hard drives or I’ve edited the videos and they are backed up on two hard drives. I’m sure it’s overkill but stuff happens…from experience…that until I have a video uploaded to RUclips and backed up the original raw footage is never deleted.
It sucks but the car is ok and I will just have to get back out there and do it all over again! Normally I upload to the PC and then I check it all before clearing the SD card. I have quite a few clips on there for 4 videos and I guess I uploaded the other 3 and checked them and thought I had done all 4 since this clip never made it into the hard drive. Now nothing gets deleted until the video is live on YT. I have backups of all the raw footage and the completed videos on a sperate PC as well but in this case I nuked it from the SD card and could not get a readable file back from it. O'well, lesson learned!
Man that sucks! Did you by any chance use easeus recovery? Judging from what you described (the file was recovered but not playable) that sounds very much like a typical easeus result.
It was not a good time for sure! Especially knowing it was me that ruined it by deleting it in the first place! It was a program called Stellar Recovery. From I saw it seems there are a ton of them all running on the same basic underlying platform with their own UI to make them look different. It sucks but the car is still fine and I have plenty of time to make more runs, I was just bitter at myself for screwing up!

It was even a bigger bummer I am the one that screwed it up. I have lost stuff before due to corruption or forgetting to hit record but this was just me messing up. It won't happen again though. nothing gets deleted until the video is live on YT!
Oh no that must be gutting about the footage 😞 I do have that rule about leaving everything on the camera card until the video is on RUclips because I'm really paranoid about this happening. Hope you get out again before too long and get that footage. Well done on the unofficial speed though 😁👍
It was a painful one for sure. I was so mad at myself for deleting it all. I will know be living by your rule and nothing get deleted from the SD card until the video is live on YT!! I will be back out this weekend for another run. I may leave this setup in there just to get a real entry with it and I know the setup works well. I am also a little intimidated to run the 7700kv motor so a little more practice won't hurt! LOL!

Real sorry to hear about the lost footage. I’ve been using my phone so far, but when I connect to my PC the phone seems to cause all sorts of issues making the computer freeze, run real slow and even disconnect me from the internet! I have a very high spec PC as well so it’s not a performance issue. On the bright side though, the car is still in one piece and you can make more runs. Look forward to seeing the next run with the better motor!
Thank Tony. It sucks I deleted it and could not get it back. I have made plans to not let this happen again so things do not get deleted until the video is live on YT. Then it can get deleted off of the SD cards. I have had similar issues with transferring off my phone. It may be the cable you are using. I had to try a few different ones before I found one that played nice with the transfers. I will get back out with this one and make the run again and then swap out the motors to see the difference. I need this one documented for some reason, mostly to overwrite my failure! LOL!!!
62 is no small feat so even if its 61 your a winner, sure I cant do that my electric rc skills are very limited, though I have made some crazy fast racing drones.
I was more mad that I was the cause of the footage getting lost. It ran well and I will be back out with it this weekend to go again. This time no footage gets deleted from anywhere until the video is live on YT! Going fast is the same in any of the areas, more power, more rpms and blind hope it all goes well is the recipe for going fast! LOL!

It did well and was fast, part of the reason I was upset I deleted it as it ran pretty well! Mostly mad at myself for deleting it as it is not something I can go back and re-record like if I was sitting at the workbench talking. The car is fine, a few scratches but fine, and it will get back out this weekend for another run.

I was so mad that day but I have gotten over it and made plans to make sure I don't delete anything important again! The car is fine and I just have to do it over again. Those pictures are the best it will ever look again! Am sure by the end it is going to be mangled pretty badly! It has the nice Beetle body to retire with though.

Man I was so mad at myself that day. I am over it now but I have made a plan to hopefully make sure this never happens again. I will get back out this weekend and get another run recorded (multiple cameras this time) and make sure to not delete the footage! LOL!
I know the pain. I did 2 runs back to back and the gps didn't record the speed. By the 3rd round, my battery was tapped , motor and esc was hot, and I had to settle for 35mph. I'll post my pain tomorrow.
Yeah the technical glitches or just plain mistakes (in my case) can sap the fun right out of it. I was so mad I deleted that clip and when I did get it back it would not play on anything. Sorry you had your struggles as well. Thankfully there is plenty of time left for more runs!

Thanks, I was really mad the day it happened but since have moved on. I know the car is fine and I can just go back out there again. It just sucks as it had a bunch of footage of it before it got all dinged up as a think to Nathaneal at MCI for the cool livery. I will get it back out this weekend for another go, I may leave the 6500kv motor in there, I have not decided on that yet. I would like to get footage (and keep it this time) of it running on that motor!

Yes, i will be going back out with it this weekend to run it again. I may still with the setup that is in there to run that again just to get an official run with it and then swap the ESC and motor to the faster set-up. Plus it will give me a little more practice with it.
