That’s the spirit. Frankly veggie gardening is not easy. When growing in pots we have to be careful not to let it dry out as that stresses the plants. This is the first time I’m successful with eggplant in pot after 4/5 years. Finally figured out the trick watering every day sometimes twice in summer, and fertilizing every 2 weeks. Never thought they would use up every nutrient in pot so fast. Neem oil and constant checking on plants for insects are your best friends. 😀
Very good Divya. Really it’s a passion to do & share to others. I am stil sharing my vegetables with my friends, even at work. My Jewish neighbor love pavakka & padavalam to make dishes . Gave to 8 families in New York for Onam sadya of everything this year. I have onion, garlic, ginger, manjal, padavalam, vellari, Venda( green types & purple), kumbalanga, sambar mulagu, other chillies, pavakka, variety beans, mathanga( mathanila & new stem is super delicious thoran, my daughters fav),payar ( green & purple), malabar cheera, green , pink & red cheera, chayamansa cheera, African Malli or culantro, American, korean & india cucumbers like many varieties. Vidya I do this all in a very small area in by back yard ( we live in Searingtown,Long Island ) including pots. I love doing this . As you said I got a large banana tree from last late summer & planted outside this year. Now I have three babies already, hope will be coming next year. If you can when you come to NY please do visit us dear.
Yes you can slice it very thin and add to your standard salads. The gourd should be thin and tender to be used in a salad not the mature ones. You can also make kichadi
Hi, Came to know about your channel only recently and am binge watching. Feels like we are having a one on one chat . You remind a lot of my favorite TV presenter FTQ Rekha Menon ( but slower than her). Great presentation and really engaging. I have a lot in common with you and feel a connection. Great going and eagerly waiting for more such videos. It's my very first time commenting on a RUclips channel. Not sure what made me do this. Stay safe and healthy.
Hi..from south carolina.i used to watch ur videos.they are very nice.i like the detailing of minute things too. Can u make a video of gardening prep for next year..
Superb, Awesome large garden with so many types of vegetables grown , liked the baby tomatoes grown in bunch, well maintained garden, Liked 👍, new friend here, stay connected dear
Hi sis hats off to your efforts. I’m one of your subscribers from the beginning, but recently went through your blogs and extremely fascinated by the blogging style and your efficiency in English language. Could you please do a video on how you have become an expert in English language. Including tips to gain vocabulary . Thanks in advance god bless you
Thank you so much 🙂 I don't consider myself as an expert in English language, thanks so much for the compliments though! I used to read every book I could find when I was young. I think that might have helped.
Awesome Vidya. I had to double up as a bee and pollinate my vegetables myself. One bottle gourd play, 2 cucumbers, 3 pavakyas etc. was my limited yield this year:-( Now Vidya, did you you have such a yield in NJ?
Thank you! Some times I have to do it too despite having so many bees around. My gardening in NJ was very limited as we were in a townhome and had a very shaded yard
What a joy to harvest.. really awesome 👏🏻.. I tried zucchini, cantaloupe this time, but didn’t grow well. Plz, give some tips..i didn’t have a many tomatoes too..I am in California
Thank you Anitha. I haven't grown cantaloupe or zucchini. In general I have had bad luck with squash family and watermelon. We have a lot of squash bugs which kill the plant. Watermelon too I have tried only the bush variety. Yield wasn't worth wasting a pot on.
Good result for your efforts Vidhya.I got lot of tomatoes and green chillies. But my ladies finger and brinjal is not that good. Finally I found lotus pond close to the place where I live .
Thank you Shiny. Brinjal in our area doesn’t do good in ground. In pot I have noticed keeping it on the deck away from other veggies work better as there are not many insects eating the leaves.
Great job keeping up your passion!👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Its not an easy job to keep vegetable garden.. Here we have loads of muringakka but very less leaves. Muringa loves hot weather i think... This year due to covid work from home i also tried some vegetable growing 😃

The long thin snake gourd can be sliced thin and used raw in salads.
Didn’t know that. Will try. I usually make with curry or sauté (thoran) with dal and snake gourd. Thank you
