I just want to say thank you for this video because it helped me with my Final Exam about comparison essay. I decided to compare the book of "Fantastic Mr. Fox' and it's movie adaption. The score is not even out yet, but I want to say again thank you...

It's worth mentioning that while in the movie all three of the farmers operate power shovels, in the book, Boggis does not, as it is his job to stand there with the gun in case the foxes get out.

I love the film so much, but I think we can all agree that Dahl would've hated it.

Meh, he also wasn’t very open minded with adaptations anyway. I think the only one he liked was the old BFG, despite Willy Wonka being considered a classic film. The Mike Tevee song in the book also implies Roald Dahl just has a bias against film in general

The movie adaptation is a nostalgic banger to be honest.

The book version is a fantastic book, but a direct translation of it wouldn’t have worked too well
Tye movie is also a great book not just for kids but for the whole family to enjoy

Hey. I wanted to ask for Halloween this year, how about a video comparing The Shining the book by Stephen King to both the Stanley Kubrick film and the mini-series?

That’s a good idea! I’d have to find the mini series though; I haven’t actually seen it. Thanks for the suggestion 😊

I think Dahl would’ve hated the movie to be honest. He was very picky when it came to film adaptations. He hated Willy Wonka and given most of the movie’s plot drifted away from the book here, he would no doubt hated this. While the movie is good, it’s not a very good adaptation of the book.

I don’t presume to know what Roald Dahl would or wouldn’t have liked, but it is well documented that he didn’t like the film adaption of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (starring Gene Wilder) for many reasons, primarily because the focus was shifted from Charlie to Willy Wonka. Additionally, he was unhappy with the casting. I think this adaptation is not an exact adaptation, but it’s a very short book, and that probably wouldn’t have made a great movie. The bulk of the book was included in this adaptation, while also adding to the plot for a more substantial story and a little family drama. I think it’s a pretty good adaptation 🤷🏻‍♀️

@@BookshelftoBigScreen He also hated The Witches because of the happy ending. He hated it so much it’s reported he drove to his local theater and started shouting at people through a megaphone not to see it.

@@huntercoleman460 Yeah, that's just the thing. If he hated The Witches just for changing the ending, imagine what his thoughts would've been on Mr. Fox's whole personality change.

I hate to say this: the book is better than the movie.
