  • On today's Drive By, Chris answers a question about making money on the internal part of the dealership. Sometimes it's easy to overlook the small details but when you pay attention to them, it can greatly increase the profit of your shop. The importance of cost control is something we can all learn more about and the grind never truly stops. Chris also answers a question from a Service Advisor struggling in her drive. He explains how to spend your time more wisely and not to focus on changing people's ambitions. What you need to focus on is better hiring. Maximizing your opportunity as a Service Advisor is extremely important if you want to get promoted.

Good advice here. Motivating lazy techs isn't going to happen, but adding more sure can.

Laziest, slowest apprentice Ive come across.. His job is mostly handling waiters but takes close to 1hr and 30mins for an oil change at times.. Kills the flow of the entire shop.. Ruins productivity. Supposed to be simplest shop role but ruins the entire shop!

At my current shop all of lower techs are terrible slow and hard headed they seem to think they know what they doing when they don’t

There's a shortage of techs! Youve got to work with what you got! We've put out adds and no one responded! The problem where i last worked is that theres a toxic environment that management didn't want to fix! I teach automotive now, and were having trouble filling classrooms. Other aspect is working at a 150 percent eventually equals burnout! Been there also!

Its not your gender, its your attitude. My dealership has 6 women and one male service adviser the ones with the attitudes are the ones people don't like we don't care if you're a man or a woman.
