- OOOH, A SHINY POKEMON! Well, kind of--it is shiny, but not THAT kind of shiny. It's a terastalized Pokemon! Ya know what? It's better if you just watch the video for an explanation.

I do not own Pokemon. I wish I did, but I do not. All rights to the characters and games mentioned in the video are reserved by The Pokemon Company, GameFreak, and Nintendo.
I think this gimmick is a lot more interesting than dynamaxing, but megas will always be the best lol. I hope we get them back soon. But this one is really gonna have some change stuff up, I can’t wait to see all the different strategies you can come up with.
This comment sums up exactly my thoughts.
@@lumiosepost all I’m asking for Christmas from GF is ports of all the DS-3DS games 😪🙏🏻.
To be honest megas were cool but restricted to certain amount of pokemon, so I believe this gimmick is the best to date
@@micemu3232 yeah but they could always bring them back and fix the issues people had with them tbh.
@@brandoncrutchfield2258 let me be the devil's advocate here and tell you, they'll never bring them back 😂
I sure do wonder what this means for Arceus and Silvally who already could change types with a Plate/Memory.
324 different Tera combos...Oh boy, where to begin. lol
I'm so excited for these games and this new gimmick, so many possibilities.
Edit: terastalized pokemon stay terastalized lasts until the end of a battle
Oh ok. So even when switched out like a mega? That’s pretty sick!
Good explanation thanks
Thx for the video I can see the potential with this new gimmick for example that Special Pikachu that we get as gift in 2023 knows FLY and it's a Flying Tera type even though Pikachu is pure electric that's awesome!
Of course! And yes-I’m excited for that gift! Thanks for watching! 😁
I got it now so can you
I'm hoping for a Pokémon Indigo where it's a 3rd version of the gen 9 games and you get to use all of the features like mega, z moves, giganta/dyna max, and teralizing. Once you get midway through the game or something to that nature.
3rd versions are dead, it’s the DLC age now
Nope we got DLC sorry 😞
@@artistaroundtheblock2047 I was spot on with the color lol
Now that we’ve all been playing for longer, can you please make a video explaining why for example an ice type move isn’t always super effective against a bug Tera type depending on secondary and third typings. It’s been hard to understand why that would be the case
That’s not a bad idea! I’ve got a lot of projects in the works and got a lot going on in my personal life and all right now (holidays, the joys of being a renter, etc) but I’d love to try to pencil this in at some point. Getting some new equipment this week that may even allow me (once all set up) to provide some real time illustration of what I’d be talking about. Definitely something to look into!
@@lumiosepost You're awesome for taking it into consideration thank you 😁 your personal life definitely comes first and undoubtedly you have a lot on your plate but I'll still be here if you decide to make it. Until then the merriest of holidays to you and your family
You too! Thank you! And thanks for the kind words! ❤️
This gimmick is really interesting, I don't play competitive Pokemon but I do think this is going to have a impact on the competitive scene. Hey lumios post I was talking about this with my brother but do you think Pokemon will ever get Game of the Year one day?
Who knows!? Maybe for SV!
@@lumiosepost If it does happen I'll be happy for game freak, I wonder how others would feel about it.
I wonder what the fairy Tera hat going to looks like
What about breading, would that transfer there type to the pokemon you want
Currently unclear. We do now KNOW though that you can change Tera type!
Is there a Pokémon that has a mega evolution, a personal z-move, and a special gigantamax form and is in SV? That Pokémon has all of the gimmicks.
If Pikachu or Eevee had a mega evolution...
Afraid not! A few with a zmove and Gmax or some with a Gmax and mega but none with both a mega and zmove
So a terastallized pokemon ONLY has the immunities, weaknesses of what it transformed into...or to the other types still factor into it. I understand the explanation of how it works offensively it's the defensive strats I'm not understanding. Please explain as though I'm an idiot
Nah, you’re not an idiot. It’s hard to follow especially when we kept hearing different things. But yes, the Pokemon defensively becomes the type of its Tera type. For a visual example:
I have an Armarouge (Fire/Psychic) that is Tera Ghost type.
I terastalize Armarouge
Armarouge is now Pure Ghost, just like a Mismagius
@@lumiosepost okay. An Shedinja not in the game?
Shedinja is not in the game. Likely will sit out this whole Gen. because Tera electric+air balloon would literally need only mold breaker or neutralizing gas to be beaten
@@lumiosepost I mean. Mine constantly dies from leach seed. Poison. Curse. Confusion. Etc. Just have those strats just in case lol
My Dig Riolu.. Having a few new balloons? Bet.
You get it 🔥
I haven't played a pokemon game since sun and moon and before that the last game that I think I played was X and Y and before That it was heart gold sold silver um I believe but this is just saying I have been on and off of pokemon games for a while to where I don't think I know too much of what's going on but I Want to jump in and play these games and see how it is yes there is a whole bunch of new features hopefully I can still play
I hope you enjoy it!
Do they need to hold a item like mega evolution?
Nope! It’s more like dynamax in the sense that it’s one Pokemon per battle-but they won’t need an item!
@@lumiosepost Thank you
is tera ghost tyranitar still immune to psychic?
Nah, it becomes a ghost type. No different than, say, Spectrier
wow
What's the point of terastalizing into the same type the Pokémon already is? Is it useless in most cases?
It gives it an even STRONGER boost in that typing. It’ll depend on the mon obviously, but there are MANY cases where it actually will be smarter to Terastalize a Pokemon to its own type
Does it work the same as dyamaxing can u level it up ?
Nope-more like a zmove or mega evolution in that regard. It just is. No making it more powerful
@@lumiosepost ok ive been having probpems going into 2 star raids saying its an problem with my pokemon ? You had this issuse ?
Hmmm. No I haven’t had that happen. Maybe google it? I’m sure it’s happened to someone else
@@lumiosepost ok thanks i my game is just very glitchy been falling thou floors 😅 the lot
Idk which you’re playing, but they say handheld runs a bit better than docked
Buying potions and revives lol
So it's like every Pokémon is dual type? Original Dual types must gain three types then
Yes offensively. No defensively. For example, Lucario (Fighting/Steel) is terastalized into a Ghost type. It is now PURE Ghost. So defensively, it functions no different than a regular ghost type like Banette or Dusknoir. Offensively, it now has boosts for Ghost moves, as well as keeping its boosts for Fighting and Steel moves.
