As to a rebuild of Gast piston pump, (not rocking piston). I studied the manual and was confused as the inlet,valve, and outlet plates (item 6,7,8) do not have a gasket between them, and a lot of air was leaking from the cylinder and cylinder head. According to Gast air leakage is normal ?????. I was going to use a slight amount of liquid gasket cement , between the valve plate and the inlet/outlet plates, then decided not to. I got a sheet of 2500 wet and dry sand paper, a bit of soap/water, and a plate of glass as a flat surface. I polished all sides of all the plates fairly well ( 1 hour), then reassembled carefully following the exploded diagram in Gast's oil-less piston maintenance manual. Torqued down the 4 hex bolts tight, now I feel no air leaks from between the valve assembly. Just purchased this 3HEB pump from Ebay for $149 , unit was never used...believe one of the valve plates was not assembled correctly before my fixit
how often to the piston seals and rider rings need to be changed? like how many hours? i have a 2-cylinder gast compressor that i've been using for over ten years in my garage for light-duty stuff like paint spraying and tire inflating and i haven't done a thing to it except for cleaning the inlet filters.
Hi, I have a gast 263 pump.. think it maybe all so called pbb.... but I cant find anyone in New Zealand that sales parts for them.. where would be the nearest retail supplier?
