It may have been fair use, but fair use is a post-hoc argument, it's not preventative in the least, and Nintendo knows this. Almost nobody does though, which I'd say is the problem.
They didn't start anything under him. How the fuck can you people have no memory when they have been attacking fangames since the beginning of the 2010s and in 2o13 they shut down smash in evo
That’s not even true, Nintendo had been treating the smash competitive scene like garbage since like 2009. They dmca’d am2r and pokemon uranium because they felt like those 2d sprite fan games were a threat to market share. They basically prevented Nintendo youtubers like Scott the woz from existing until 2017 (before Doug). Moon needs to talk about Konami. They have an extremely dark history with the Yakuza, horrendous working conditions that give Activision or EA a run for their money, they turn their beloved franchises into pachinko machines, and cut off Hideo Kojima. The sad part about this is that Konami used to be one of the greatest game developers of all time.
Calling Nintendo the worst video game company is the same as calling Pillsbury the worst food company. They may have made a few questionable calls, but only a few and nothing morally.

Long live GilvaSunner! I’ll always remember going to that channel for soundtracks! Nintendo has made some of the most memorable music ever in history. It’s a shame they never let the fans express their gratitude toward these amazing games..
I'm actually surprised at how laid-back Nintendo was during the Reggie and Iwata era, though, the start of Nintendo's downfall was when Reggie was about to leave the company, 5 months before Bowser was elected as new CEO.
Sure it was laid back if you ignore how in that time the fucking partner Program was a thing, how Nintendo took down many videos on yt, how they shut down evo smash and how fan games began shut down at the tine
Nintendo has a habit of being very backwards with it's internet gaming and I wonder if this is where the reluctance to host etc. It's very easy to just judge but we know that there are cases of some bad practice in eSports, some gamers being accused of some heinous shit, are they playing so safe that they're just looking stingy or is it absolutely just money. Probably won't know as they're not often ones for talking about this sorts thing. Shame tho, they could learn from sega..
@Charizard S I wouldn’t say so. Sega listens to the fans. They allow fan games to exist, and they even allowed fans to create sonic mania. Sega is far better than Nintendo in terms of how they respect their most dedicated supporters, but the same can’t be said for Nintendo.
@Charizard S So far, they are very chill with people making fan games and mods for their games. It's their mainline games that have been iffy for the past few years, though they've made the steps in the right direction with frontiers; It's not perfect, but they're learning.
@@TriiiL0RD Sega doesn't listen to fans, they dump them when they don't need their goodwill anymore. It's just a general fact that when you are low, you will try to rebuild your good will, but once you are high again, you will go back to exploiting (like Sonic Origins)

All my life I grew up with Nintendo. Mario especially. And it breaks my heart more and more at the fact that such a love hate relationship between the company and the fan base is ever growing. Be it reasonable or not. So much innovation could be made if only they could do right by their intended audience while keeping their business clean. And it saddens me to why they do this. Is it any surprise to why people call Nintendo the "Disney" of video games?
Since a Super Nintendo World theme park is gonna be a thing and that new Mario movie is giving Disney a run for its money, I think Nintendo is trying to become Disney or trying to replace it.
Them and what army? The internet knows damn well how far Nintendo's fallen. As far as respect goes, well....They better hope ToTK is good. And even then, that won't protect them for long anyway. Nothing will.
The guy who sold the Etikons was actually a grifter, and lied about selling them for charity. So Nintendo was actually in the right there, although probably unintentionally. And aside from that all of these offenses are extremely minor and do not matter in the long run. Like yeah they are very protective of their properties, but none of it I would consider evil. So overall nintendo is not that bad, and there are far worse companies out there.
There was a discussion in PlayerEssence's channel about lack of permission to sell the Etikons, whether they were a lie or not. I'd look more into that.
In fact, honestly Microsoft, Sony, and Steam are way worse when it comes to some things they do, or the politics they support. So I don't get why the anti-woke crowd like Moon, RevSaysDesu, and EndimeonTV oy criticize or hate Nintendo, yet support those companies.
i like how companies like capcom and sega literally hire fangame developers for official remakes yet nintendo just burns them to the ground. you would think that it would actually be a smart move to hire someone who can literally recreate and port mechanics from a 20 year old game from the ground up onto brand new devices, but nope nintendo just cant get rid of their over inflated ego.
You'd think that, yet life shows us time and time again that what seems sensible to us doesn't seem sensible to The Beast. It's a shame but it is what is. I'm just happy we have a thriving mod/pirate scene that will always ride The Beast's back.
LS Mark made a video discussing the problems with hiring fangame developers, and those two companies have their own problems too. *No* company is great with fans.
This is likely caused by the senior Japanese management. Its insane. Their business people in the entertainment industry need to learn a lot from American companies. Nintendo USA CEOs may have prevented these policies so far. This is why Japanese pop culture never really got popular outside of Japan, because they wouldn't let online communities of fans upload anything to the internet. and then they wonder what went wrong when Kpop took the world by storm instead of Jpop. Even popular Anime was first offered in a legal streaming service by a non-Japan website Crunchyroll to the global audience. The Japanese companies were busy banning illegal websites and selling DVDs instead of a streaming service! Same with Manga. They kept fighting fan-made scanlations instead of providing manga to English speakers legally via the internet.
Japan is really an ultra conservative feudal culture. I remember my Japanese relatives had never heard of NETFLIX back in 2014. By then it was super mainstream in the US. Come back a few years later in 2019 and yeah, they all had it. They just literally lag behind 7-10 years behind the rest of the world. I'm almost 32, I've been playing on Nintendo systems since I was around 10 or 11 when I got my first Gameboy (although I was using my cousins and brother's for a few years lol) - I've been fighting an uphill battle to clutch to my fandom and dedication to Nintendo because they've ALWAYS made fans feel like we matter. The Switch Lite will likely be the last system I ever buy, and I'm a schmuck for even buying the new Pokémon game but I struggle to let go of the dedication, I've loved their games more than half of my life, and I share that love with my own son. The way they've been showing us how little we matter...it became clear to me in 2020 when they buckled down on their tyranny in the form of NFC cards lol Animal Crossing was like the Wild West for about 6 months, and it just made it clear to me that all they care about is MONEY. Thanks for making the video, Moon; it feels bittersweet, but we need to talk about this.
Really looking forward to what the steam deck brings to the board over the next few years. Lot's of indi games and also amazing tripple a games. Valve is seriouspy gonna hurt nintendo. Great video, I disagree about the end though. No matter what Nintendo does for the most part they will get loads of support from their fans. The smash community is very small compared to their fanbase as a whole and they've been dealing with this kind of abuse for a long time. Nintendo will always be able to sell their pokemon games and their mario games because no matter how bad they become, their fanbase is so loyal that they will buy them anyway. Many people think companies like Nintendo and Disney could do no wrong simply because they made Mickey mouse and Mario. Or they simply don't care, as what's happening with the smash community etc. doesn't matter to them.
Nintendo actually struck all my fan art items in my Etsy shop not long after the Doug Bowser change. I knew what I was getting into, drawing characters from IPs that I don't own myself and monetizing it in any way, albeit very little, is risky. I just had a passion for it. But I get it. I'm doing other stuff these days, and I'm just thankful they just suspended my listings and didn't send me a lawsuit. Just sad that even fan art isn't off the table now.
Partnering with Activision after such a long time to bring Call of Duty? I'll play that on a PS5 or Xbox One X tyvm. And their established titles like the new Pokémon games being buggy messes? None of this helps Nintendo. Parents remember, meaning their kids won't be getting Nintendo consoles.
@@bserpasTechnically, the FTC blocked Microsoft from making the buyout that would allow Nintendo to have COD on their systems. Which wouldn’t hurt them either way. Well, the thing is, regardless of their buisness practices, they do make mostly good games. So even fans mad at Nintendo for their buisness practices will probably still buy their games
It was fun to watch a Moon video I actually know a notable amount on. Nintendo's constant attacks on their community run so ridiculously against the whole mindset of "making fun games everyone can enjoy" that I can only sit back and shake my head in utter disappointment.
I remember when me and my dad couldn't afford a ps4 but he had a nintendo ES from when he was younger and we play the hell out of that thing. Some of my favorite memories were playing with him in Super Mario. I miss him.
I get your point, and I agree with your point, but if you are going to tell the story of Nintendo, you should have included more about their CEOs and some more of their failures, like NOT switching to Disc screwed them in competition with Sony, then when the FINALLY switched to Disc they fucked it up by being cheapskates using much smaller Discs on the GameCube. On top of that, the Wii was successful because of Reggie and Iwata using a Blue Ocean (Passive Co-existence with competition) business strategy rather than Red Ocean (Active competition) it allowed them to be in every home sold as a "Family console", while Iwata was a CEO from the programming and art divisions. Nintendo was doing great under an artist CEO, then he died and the CEO seat was split between a bunch of marketing chumps. hence why the company has been so inconsistent lately. You gotta look deeper when the hole goes deeper, this video could have been something I save and send everyone but it's just kind of another Moon video calling something terrible.
Bro they literally made the competition with Sony. If they had stuck to their original deal the Playstation would have never happend. I agree that this summary is a bit short tho.

It's just, they could draw so many straws before they break the camel's back. Whether this faith makes me look like an idiot is up to anyone reading this comment. And so I said my piece. If anyone comments, I'll read it, but I'm highly unlikely to respond back.
despite many problems with Nintendo, it is worth noting that in their games at least there are no microtransactions on the switch, unlike many other companies, it is worth remembering the situation with GT7 on PS5 for example
@@sagehero7768 Among the above, the most serious problem is Switch Online, which really detracts from the experience for many users. All other problems, for example, the case with Smash, concern the small size of the community, this does not prevent many from using the switch and games for it, so it is unlikely that Nintendo loses profit from this, only reputation
To be honest, this is about the reason why ive been trying my hand at game developing. Games that made your childhood, thats the perfect way to describe Nintendo, and yet there is NO legitimate way to access these games unless its through emulation or old cartridges nearing 30 years old at least. There is no friendliness or warmth to how those legacy games are treated, lost to the ages and almost completely beyond reach.
The one thing I can be on Nintendo's side for is this. They aren't just gonna port like every single of their most popular retro library to the switch, that would take away from the new stuff. That's why what they do have is emulation, via NES-N64 Switch Online. Now I say they should be providing a lot more of these games to emulate though as the library they currently have is lackluster and the price for the N64 is just horrible all around. Demanding for ports from these guys? It ain't gonna happen.
@@90sNath That is understandable, but as antiquated most of their good games are, you'd figure they'd take the hint and do minimal work compared to modern games and such and reimagine these oldies, they can do so much more than just a port, they could, i wouldn't say modernize, but like reinvigorate them, you know?
@@lukascreech3229 Then, people would complain about that. They'd complain - for example - why didn't they keep Super Mario Bros. 3 the same or Super Mario 64. Pleasing everyone is an impossible task.
Yep, Nintendo is like Disney in that it can indoctrinate each new generation into its cult of blind fandom. People grow up loving Nintendo in spite of themselves.
I think a lot of people have the misconception that a video game company's branches are together as one. This isn't always the case. Often times, the American branches, for example like Nintendo of America or SEGA of America, make decisions and actions that the original Japanese counterparts (Nintendo of Japan/SEGA of Japan) have no idea, no part, or knowledge of (vice versa can happen as well). The original Japanese companies have been suffering because of that. Many people just see and treat as if original, the American counterparts and often forget where the company actually comes from.
I'm still annoyed that Nintendo won't release their music on streaming services. They have all these songs they can sell and make money off of, yet they just won't! Everyone else releases their music to the public, so why won't Nintendo do the same?
@@DontKnowDontCare6.9 companies like Square Enix and Sega are game companies, yet that doesn't stop them from releasing their music without issues like piracy. And what's stopping Nintendo from not knowing how to do it? They literally have some Xenoblade and Kirby albums on Spotify and Apple Music.
I think the core message here is that companies by definition aten't your friend. You can enjoy what they put out but never forget that the bottom line is what it's all about for them at the end of the day.
the problem is a lot of people have made it part of their identity. and nintendo doesnt care. ive seen a lot people call pokemon violet and scarlet games failures. while they sold millions in days. they are just mad nintendo is trying to sell to kids and not them.
All I can say is, we need another Satoru Iwata, or even another Reggie. Another person just like them, and can raise the sun on the fans again, making another golden age happen again, but who could be like them? I wish if Bowser didn't take control of the company...
A lot of anime companies are doing the same thing. The issue is simple of course, the more they go after the fans the less fans they have at the end of the day.
One day youtube will clean their shit. And yup there is proof of them spying modders. Terrible compagny if you want my opinion... still love their games, just wont support this behavior and wont play online for them.
It really ticks me off how Nintendo is bringing the gavel down on fan games that have some really ingenious ideas that break the mold for stagnant, repetitive platformers (for some, no flak for those that like platformers). They could have gone the route of Valve and helped them program it to an official game, everyone wins. There was this cool game someone made where you play as Mario in a first-person platformer shooter with a plunger bazooka, that is the type of fan game that would make for a great side story, I mean you already have Mario with a gun in the Rayman Rabbids crossover.
I believe this is something to look out for nowadays-- if a company is sucessful and popular, afterwards they are bound to go complacent and do bad to scummy decisions. Unfortunately, it would not matter to them if it made them money.
Even though Nintendo makes so many mistakes like alienating their fanbase, I still love Nintendo to this day because they're still loyal to make video games.
Make no mistake, Nintendo is very unpredictable. Sure they get very protective of their image and properties, but they take their gaming handling very seriously. Up until the Nintendo Switch, I felt sorry for Nintendo. Once the PlayStation was released, there was not much they could do to get out of Sony's shadow. They got arrogant for making a mockery out of Sony, treated video games on their consoles as child's play prior to the invention of ESRB, got afraid of losing money if they allowed Daisy to appear in video games during the 1990s, stuck with making cartridges for Nintendo 64 games, made smaller disks for Nintendo Gamecube games, capitalized on the Sega Dreamcast's failure with their Wii U marketing, used Yoshi characters instead of fairies for Panel de Pon not counting the Game Boy release of Panel de Pon, and relied on portable consoles alone to try and get out of Sony's shadow at the time the PlayStation2 was still releasing video games. I'm not mad at Nintendo. They act unpredictable and take their game handling very seriously. I've learned to not mock Nintendo and I'll get punished if I do.
A major issue with the Nintendo discussion I myself noticed is that Nintendo's haters tend to twist the narrative and lie about what Nintendo is doing while covering up the atrocities of said haters (Scams, protecting dangerous individuals, corruption, ect.) and labeling every Nintendo Fan who disagrees with them as "Shills", "Bootlickers", and of course, "Nintendrones". This makes it difficult to know whether or not Nintendo is truly in the wrong. It doesn't help that most of Nintendo bad deeds have been done by other corporations, yet THEY get a free pass or it's downplayed because "it's not Nintendo". As an example Demeech (please don't harass him, I'm just making an example) would constantly go nuts over Nintendo making unfinished games, but never complained when Nickelodeon Allstars Brawl was unfinished and rushed while coincidentally supporting the whole Melee thing who was in turn shilling for the game. Nintendo has it's flaws and skeletons in their closet, but it's hard to swallow Anti-Nintendo discourse without the inevitable "KILL NINTENDO! NINTENDO DESERVES TO DIE!" nonsense.
Something you didn't mention that bothered me greatly, was the Mario 100 game. Nintendo sent a cease and desist to someone who had made a battle-royale version of mario 1, only for them to release the game themselves a few months later, acting as if it was their own idea.
@@Misime33 if it's the game I am thinking abt then apperently it was made poorly so could have been rushed. O and then why not take the game down sooner then
@@Lidia__ why not sooner? I can think of a few ideas but it might just have something to do with timing. If the C&D was given at say Point A that means Nintendo could have been working on promos or doing a general sweep of the internet during development of the game. Just a guess on my end
I still love Nintendo. Nothing is gonna stop me from supporting Nintendo. Honestly…. It’s the only gaming company I like. I don’t play on a PlayStation or Xbox. I never really cared for those kinds of games. I’m a Nintendo fan and always will be
Same here! Also here a real fact, Doug Bowser is not making any of those decisions, It's Nintendo of Japan. Plus moon himself is terrible at getting evidence and he steals footage from Reddit and Moon himself is a terrible RUclipsr. ToxicDistress told me everything about moon. Don't worry, I'm on your side and I'm one of the respectful fans that tells the truth!
@sky lopez well Nintendo gaming side is still really great splatoon 3 with their tight window with a lot of content in its base game. Their online in that game is starting show some signs of improvement and that game sold well and got great reviews with a lot of its pros out way cons. I saw people give that game a good score if they feel free to "only needs improving" unlike metacritic user scores giving it a fat zero and forcing the net code as a con (well most likely a kid who's parents should tell the kid "you may get a virus if you go on to those site") I read a article about how splatoon 3 was a great microtransaction free game.
I love Nintendo, I can admit they aren't perfect, and can upset me at times, but honestly they do more good then bad, and it's ironic that the anti-woke RUclipsrs are the ones quick to bash them, (EndimeonTV, RevSaysDesu, and others really hate Nintendo) yet Nintendo's developers haven't insulted it's customers for not buying a game, nor put American partisan political propaganda in their games like others have recently. They don't give Nintendo any credit for the good things they do for gaming, nor the fact they're one of the few real game companies left. Nintendo isn't infallible and they should be criticized, but sometimes I think gamers and RUclipsrs are quick to bash them over every little thing, and don't criticize Sony, Microsoft, and Steam as much for doing similar or worse things. Heck, nobody bashes Square/Enix for killing a fan Chrono Trigger HD remake, nor Sega for a C&D they did. Also, honestly I don't get the whole "Nintendo is evil for not letting us pirate 30 or 40 year old games." thing. It's not like Nintendo destroyed every emulating site, or fan game as many do still exist, and honestly those old classic games aren't gone forever, as they've been rereleased over and over again for every system, and such. The original Super Mario Bros. Has literally been rereleased for almost every system since the Gameboy Color. You can't tell me nobody has that game anymore. I have 2 copies of Super Mario/Duck Hunt that still work too.
That is the reason why ever since the Wii era, I have been a Multiformat gamer, never rely on just Nintendo themselves but also have a good scope around all the many consoles. So you know about the good the bad and the ugly parts of each company.
After the N64 I saw Nintendo looking into their pockets first and not the customer. As someone who grew up on Nintendo, I went to Sega and PlayStation for my gaming, and never looked back. Hell, the Game Boy is what corrected my reading issue, and NES helped with bonding with the other kids in the area. There are some fond memories of Nintendo as a child, and that's all they will ever be - memories.
@@MrJemoederopeenstokj I owned a Wii to see what all the hype was. Outside Wii Sports and Mario Kart I couldn't get into the console itself. The Wii U I owned for 8 days and sold it after completing Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros Ultimate.
@Tiger Jackson ah ok. Smash 4/Smash Wii U is the name. It's pretty uncreative. Though Brawl was playable on Wii via real hardware inside the Wii U, no emulation necessary in this case. Heck, Wii Virtual Console on Wii U (Not to be confused with Wii's own Virtual Console Service) used real hardware.
It is horrible how Nintendo has dealt with the Smash community. But it’s important to remember that the same community has a story of abuse and child predators who are still part of it.
Soyendo didn't attack the Soy Community because there are child predators in it, they attacked it because of financial reasons, royalty or some other bullshit.
Did you know Hiroshi Yamauchi wasn't actually a human being? He was a vessel that enclosed 7 yakuza oni spirits from 7 different regions in Japan. These oni monopolized the gambling in Japan with the hanafuda Nintendo cards and put a spell so that no other company could produce cards, truly evil. Yamauchi, often referred to as "大魔王 ティラノ天堂" (Great Evil King Tyranotendo), tyranized the video games market with his monopolic practises, it is said that the Master System or the PC Engine didn't actually ever exist, and that they were invented time after so hide the fact that the Famicom was actually the one and only console existing in Japan.
…and you say this with confidence in that it’s true. sir, with all due respect, i think you need to take another look at your own comment, and read it out loud to see if it makes sense.
I honestly really liked the first thumbnail a lot better. This one seems a little too simple and boring Besides that Amazing video!! I always love the way you explain things. The videos stay entertaining all the way thru which is impressive
Surprised the video didnt touch more on the blatant planned obsolescence of nintendo products when nintendo pulls the plug on support of consoles and online services to basically force you to buy the newest one. The recent discontinuation of the 3DS and WiiU stores come to mind.
Doesn't it cost money to keep the servers open? It isnt rlly that bad to shut them down since unlike phones there wont be anything new coming. Also u can still play the games u have offline
hey It beats what Sony is doing and Remaking a 2 year old game and Selling it for 70 bucks at least Nintedo wait's a while before doing it with there games
Honestly, they need to hire a new CEO. Potentially a humble Japanese man with a passion for video games as strong as Iwata’s. They need a new face for the company, they need to stop Doug Bowser from ruining the company with his decisions, they need to support the fans and show that they care. Not hurt their own fans and their loyalty towards the company.. I’m praying that the next Console generation of Nintendo will fail like the Wii U. I want whatever comes next to flop in a way that Nintendo will finally realize that they need to actually innovate again and treat every employee, customer like they matter. In the Wii U days, Iwata would famously cut his own salary to pay his employees and every game released would actually matter. Nowadays, there is little to no control over the eShop and it’s flooded with shitty games. On the Wii U there was also a lot of charm with the console. (Menu music for each app, a clean Home Screen aesthetic, Miiverse, ect) and without any of that charm on the Switch. We are left with a soulless console, with a soulless company that somehow makes great games. I don’t mean to say I want Nintendo to fail, I’ve only come to agree with the terms that Nintendo only innovates or changes whenever they fail. (The Wii, DS/3DS, Switch, all came to the table with innovative ideas that saved the company during their worst financial periods) So Nintendo, as a loving fan. I hope to see you fail so you can come back stronger. Retro-
Do yourself a favor and abandon hope. No matter what they will always have mindless stans buying their shit, so they will keep shoveling it. We've seen this countless times with Bethesda, Blizzard and R* just to name a few. To change the nature of the mega-corp beast we need to change human nature at its core. It just ain't gonna happen.
Literally all that shit existed with iwata. Just like this idiot, you don't know or forget they did a lot of that shit when Reggie and iwata were part of the company
If this is the worst of Nintendo then I don’t think they have anything to worry about. They will keep making games and consoles and people will keep buying them.

Great video overall, my only problem is that they will always find ways to grow and get sales by the end of it with or without fans.

Never forget that
Thanks for taking my request, Moon! About time you talked about Nintendo!

It's just, they could draw so many straws before they break the camel's back.

despite many problems with Nintendo, it is worth noting that in their games at least there are no microtransactions on the switch, unlike many other companies, it is worth remembering the situation with GT7 on PS5 for example
@@90sNath That is understandable, but as antiquated most of their good games are, you'd figure they'd take the hint and do minimal work compared to modern games and such and reimagine these oldies, they can do so much more than just a port, they could, i wouldn't say modernize, but like reinvigorate them, you know?

wow congratulation on being the 27 dumbass to make this stupid jok
I think a lot of people have the misconception that a video game company's branches are together as one. This isn't always the case. Often times, the American branches, for example like Nintendo of America or SEGA of America, make decisions and actions that the original Japanese counterparts (Nintendo of Japan/SEGA of Japan) have no idea, no part, or knowledge of (vice versa can happen as well). The original Japanese companies have been suffering because of that. Many people just see and treat as if original, the American counterparts and often forget where the company actually comes from.
The issue is Nintendo of Japan though to be honest.
I'm still annoyed that Nintendo won't release their music on streaming services. They have all these songs they can sell and make money off of, yet they just won't! Everyone else releases their music to the public, so why won't Nintendo do the same?
And I'm annoyed Moon took from OV Gaming and then banned him

A lot of anime companies are doing the same thing. The issue is simple of course, the more they go after the fans the less fans they have at the end of the day.

Even much less popular companies like MOB Games were involved in scummy decisions, so the popularity thing isn't true.
It's almost as if every single interprise doesn't care about their fans, just their money
Being able to wittiness your favorite gaming company rise to the top only to crash to the bottom is heart breaking.
Nintendo didnt crash down to the bottom.
That was Sega.
Why would STEALING/emulating a game be supported by someone if it makes money in some way? Nintendo didn't have to support ANY of that
Well why did Moon need to take his Reddit video from OV Gaming (and then ban him)
A major issue with the Nintendo discussion I myself noticed is that Nintendo's haters tend to twist the narrative and lie about what Nintendo is doing while covering up the atrocities of said haters (Scams, protecting dangerous individuals, corruption, ect.) and labeling every Nintendo Fan who disagrees with them as "Shills", "Bootlickers", and of course, "Nintendrones".
Now this is a GOOD comment.
I agree with this comment!
Something you didn't mention that bothered me greatly, was the Mario 100 game. Nintendo sent a cease and desist to someone who had made a battle-royale version of mario 1, only for them to release the game themselves a few months later, acting as if it was their own idea.

(The Wii, DS/3DS, Switch, all came to the table with innovative ideas that saved the company during their worst financial periods)
