I can definitely understand this. I love when a pastor says, “If I stop following God, stop following me.” There’s a lot of non-biblical teaching going on and it can be scary if your a newbie and really looking to be fed. It’s easy to just take in anything because these are the people you expect to teach you. It’s so important to read the Bible and know him for yourself so when these things happen you know the truth. Man will always fail you. Thanks for sharing ❤️

My bishop says that all the time. It is TRULY amazing when you’re in a church and your being fed. I was that girl who dreaded going to church until I was led to mine. Now, I can’t get enough. I hate when I have to work on Sundays because I can only stream. And being somewhere that is truly bible based I believe heightens your senses to false teaching.

The new pastor told the whole congregation that he was the shepherd and we were the dumb sheep. Also, that going to church is a requirement to make it to heaven. My spirit is soooo vexed by the words that he says. This church is actually my husband's childhood church, but he left a long time ago! It is time for me to break ties. It is very hard b/c i love everyone there. Please pray for me.

I grew up in a Pentecostal church where the teachings were full of chastisement regarding attendance, giving, and people leaving his church. There was the mandatory $20 offerings. The praise and worship that felt like "Simon Says". The yearly tribute offerings during anniversary time, Father's day and Mother's day, that had a very specific dollar amount attached to them. And the redundant speeches that took place praising the founders.
Then the lady who was over the dance group, that my mom forced me and my sister to be a part of, used to say some of the dumbest things and mainly targeted my sister and I. Like when she told me I was going to be pregnant by the time I was 16 (I'm 32 and still a virgin so clearly that statement was far from the truth..), and demanding that we greet everybody when we walk in (as opposed to them saying hello to us 1st). I even remember sitting downstairs with all the other kids for hours with no supervision, while all of our parents were in routine meetings upstairs that we were not allowed to attend.
It was a very manipulative and toxic environment. Needless to say, I left that church shortly after I graduated from college. Actually all of the people who grew up in that church ended up leaving, my parents still attend there and all of the other members are around my parents age and older.
I had no church home for 2 years after college. Started listening to this one church on the radio everyday, while working my 1st job out of college. Those teachings helped me to begin to develop a stronger relationship with God. I had always been sensitive to the voice of God since I was young though I rarely read the Bible. But I just knew certain things were wrong. Took a crisis to get me to go back inside of a church building and the one I went to was the one I heard about on the radio. It was a nondenominational church that I joined the first day. I felt like I finally belonged somewhere and that's when God prophecied to me through the pastor of that church that he was calling me to a different church and city. I haven't yet moved to that city but I have been a partner to that ministry since 2015, and I tithe through that church. I often attend the business and faith conferences there as well. But I stream the services online. I often find myself challenging the things that many preachers teach because there is very little scripture being taught but the pastor I have now is on point.

Vanessa W., Can you explain about the tithing being a sin?

    • @ChristsChemist
      @ChristsChemist 6 лет назад +7

Vanessa W. I initially started tithing because I grew up in the church and that's what they told us to do. I saw my parents do it and compared and contrasted their financial situation with people who I knew did not tithe. My relatives and, people outside of my family. As I got older I decided I would tithe, without much knowledge about scriptures back then, simply because I knew God was my source. My financial commitments to the church have evolved since then as I recognized that the Bible talked about first fruits, offerings, and alms in addition to the tithe.
I have yet to come across someone who said their life became worse when they started tithing, usually it's the opposite. I've heard testimonies of several people who initially did not tithe, and at one point in their walk with God they experienced a major financial deficit or crisis. God led them to tithe, and when they acted in obedience they experienced divine intervention almost suddenly. Something that happened to me personally, in my finances. Was after becoming connected with my now church, I received a 40% increase in pay at my job in one year. Which was equivalent to more than $6 per hour at the time. A rate I was able to keep when I took on a lower level role the following year, with an additional $2 increase by 2017. I don't know anyone personally who had what looked like a demotion title wise, who experienced a major increase in their pay.
When we look at the Bible, tithing was mentioned in Genesis 14:20 with Abraham, before it was instituted as a law through Moses in Leviticus 27. This passage (verse 30) stated that the tithes belongs to God. In Malachi 3:10-12 we learn that the window of heaven blessings are available to those who bring their tithes to the storehouse.
Jesus did not come to abolish the law but to fulfill it (Matthew 5:17). There is nothing wrong with the law except that it makes man aware of their shortcomings and that they need a savior because they cannot abide by it without him. Today we have the Holy Spirit and he leads us into all truths (John 16:5-13). So there is no need for anyone to tell you what to do if you are a born again Spirit filled follower of Jesus Christ. That's the Holy Spirit's job, he helps us and teaches us (John 14:26).
I would say that if someone said that they have tithed and it didn't work for them then they need to consider the soil that they are sowing into. In order for it to work the church that you sow into must pay tithes as well, if they don't believe in it you can't override that by giving your tithes to that church. Also, tithing is just the starting point. The incremental increases come when you give offerings on top of the tithes.

You hit the nail on the head. I left a church quite similar to yours we had been there 14 years . I was called Jezebel for leaving. Apparently we are still enemies to them even after being gone for 10 years. Please pray for us we haven’t been members of a church since 2014. It’s very difficult to trust leaders.

T Jones I know what you mean. During such times, it helps when you listen to teachings on a regular basis. At first I listened to several people on the Daystar channel. But narrowed it down to 3 main churches, two that may be of interest to you are Elevation and One Church LA (who recently merged with The Potter's House). They both have full messages here on RUclips. Elevation broadcasts live on RUclips as well.

Leaving my church was one of the HARDEST things I've ever done. I recently left and it feels like a bad breakup or divorce. I actually feel a spirit of grief on me. That heaviness. I cry at the drop of a hat. I miss the people and a lot of other things so much. But in spite of all that, I had to be obedient to God. He said my time was up there. I accomplished all my goals I set out to do there and then some. I literally ache from missing them so much. God help me! This video eases some of the guilty feels however. Some of what you spoke on is what lead up to my decision to leave. I couldn't ignore it any longer. Thank you for this.

I'm a orthodox christian and I have a church at 10 minutes far from my home. I go to that church from when I was little and they aren't bad but I don't do much. I just listen to the choir and priest saying some things and do the cross sign. I never felt like the priests put passion and could made me interested enough. These months my mom found a church at like 15-20 minutes far from my home and she really liked it. I went once and I really love it. This priest talked with such devotion, and passion and at some point almost made me tear up. He really seemed to talk to God and to praise Him the way He deserves. It feels right. I can't wait to go again, I will take my bff with me.
I totally understand what you're saying.

Same situation here. I was in an organized religion for 21 years. It was rerun all over. I felt like I was not growing spiritually. I had a lot of unanswered questions and I was also drained economically. I got to pay tithe, offering, money for building, mission, school etc. besides all that every 2nd sabbath of the month I got to give a special offering to the church. The Lord finally pulled me out. I read my Bible alone, I do my own research and found out a lot of things they teach are false. I feel closer to God than I ever been. I recently stumbled to a channel on RUclips call truthunedited and it is very good . To me, we are the church and we don’t need a church building to get connected with God. Be blessed everyone!

I've had an urge to leave my current church since the beginning of the year. I haven't seen much spiritual growth since I got there nearly 10 years ago. It took me going into the Bible, studying the word for myself and hearing the word even here on RUclips to strengthen my relationship with God. I left my childhood church before that and it was difficult to find someplace that I felt was a good fit so for now I'll continue to pray and wait for God to tell me where I should be.

I hope my thoughts were conveyed for all to understanding.

This is so relevant, a lot of people are being led astray because of false teachings or people having their own agenda like in the case of your church. I'm currently in a season like this, my home church has started to really push for tithing and offering (which is correct) but also giving to the pastors birthdays and anniversaries and building funds and paying down the debt on the church building and so many other things. Also, hearing the same sermons over and over just with a different title, the same pastors that come for the Spiritual conferences that are held there every year, it has just started to feel stale and no growth. It really hasn't sat well with me this entire year. I haven't been there since early September, just fellowship at home, streaming a lot of services online. Thank you for this video, because it helps to know that I'm not alone in my concerns for what I see happening/not happening. So many of us will continue in the same cycle because it's all that we know and too afraid to speak out and say "this is wrong!" or "I don't agree with this!" or "this doesn't sit well within me!"

This is so timely Kytia. I was just feeling turmoil since yesterday because my mother (a non-church going because of similar reasons you mentioned but nonetheless Christian) had just burst my bubble about my church yesterday. She said the reason she would never become a member there is because they only preach the light hearted and trendy "Hill Song" type of sermons there, never talking about sin and correction. I wanted to dismiss it but as I thought about it over night, it just resonated and bothered me so much, I could feel the disillusionment sink in as I thought of how "clicky" the circles in our church can be despite they preach about EXACTLY the opposite. What does it mean when your pastor and wife and their best friend/leaders give an earnest new member the cold shoulder more often than not? Don't get me wrong, there are some really amazing brothers and sisters in the congregation who make me feel part of the community.
I've sensed a weirdness for a while, but I've only considered church as a supplement to my walk, not the substance. But perhaps, it is better to be alone than in poor company... I don't know, I sure would miss being active in community of people seeking Jesus and not being afraid to say they believe in his deity. I'm not sure the cons out weigh the pros, yet.

    • @KytiaLamour

Keep seeking God. Like I mentioned, sometimes God plants us in churches to serve and pray for change as well as fellowship. There will be no perfect church building. Thank you for your testimony! This video for sure will wake some people up! This is a huge problem in many churches, they teach the "prosperity sermon" & they use false teaching to take advantage of it to get money and get to where they want!!!! It is very important to pray for our pastors and the people who teach at church because the enemy will destroy the church through the "main" person!! It is hard to believe but it is the truth, its hard to accept but if you feel there's something not right, pray about it and study the Bible and ask God for guidance.

Hi Kytia, I can say I have experienced this as well. My husband and I came together from different religions and churches we both did not want to attend our previous churches anymore so we were churchless for awhile. We then began to go to a church that we both loved!! (at first) I had my reservations about certain things from the beginning but overlooked them. We both got caught up in the church, went every Sunday but things begin to really pull at my spirit causing me to question a lot of those reservations I originally had. My husband begin to see them as well and we just stop going...we were baptized at this church together once we got married, we now listen to different pastors that we stream.
The 3 men we listen to are in different parts of the world. 1 in India, 1 in Kentucky and 1 in Texas. They dont know each other they aren't affiliated with the same church but they preach the same message they are on point!! All are Christian, men of God.
The message is the most important part!! not the music or a theatrical show.

Good Message, I’m in the same season. There’s so much God is teaching me, and I’m waiting for the Church he want me to go. I know what it is like to go to a church that have ministers. Spiritually it is not good, and it leads to church hurt. However I am grateful God took me out and saved me all glory to him, cause I could’ve been led astray.

I have a very similar experience with the church I have been going to for 20 years (since I was little). The pastor would oftentimes use fear to make the people be afraid of thinking with their own heads and decide how they feel about the service in the church. He used to shout a lot during his speeches too and the speeches were more about him than about God. I remember feeling very sick everytime I went there. I'm so glad I left and that I'm being able to build my relationship with God now based on his word and with peace in my heart.

Thank you for this. I left my home church months ago because I felt that something was off. It was a mega church and so it all felt like a controlled show that never allowed the Holy Spirit to flow (not saying that all mega churches are like this)I realized that I never felt the spirit of the lord at that church so I started to pray about it. One Friday night during youth service the spirit of the lord fell down and my spirit was so pleased. Shortly after the youth pastor shut it down. He literally shut the Holy Spirit off. I was so doneeeee!!!!! I left, I started visiting another church but I noticed that they were also a bit off as well with their teaching as it didn’t line up with the Bible. Finally I began to pray and asked God about a specific church that I had in mind and he gave me a dream and in the dream there was a leak in the church. There’s more to the dream, but long story short, I’ve been seeking God at home until I find a good church.

I am actually in Los Angeles and since I’ve been here(4 years now) I may have attended one or two churches here and it just doesn’t feel right - I have completely stopped going however I still worship and praise God. I just don’t know if being in a church is for me at least at this time. I am still growing in the knowledge of God I just started reading my Bible from Genesis and plan on reading it until the end and I am asking God to give me proper discernment to hear what is supposed to be heard - I love what you said and it made me realize that I’ve never prayed for what church to go to of course when I first moved out here I’m not gonna say any names but I only went to a very popular church that I would see streamed on RUclips and it had and still has a huge following they are connected to other churches in different states and at first I stopped going because the main pastor and his wife was never there to preach and would stream on the big screen if they were at the other church but they do have a good message and I still follow them and catch the services online every so often but before all of this COVID-19, I been stopped going - it just started feeling like a celebrity church.

Kytia, thank you so much for sharing your story. I'm in a similar situation, where I left a church that I had been going to for several years about 2 years ago, and haven't been to church since. The funny thing is, I used to be one of those people who judged others for not going to church all the time, I thought it was worse if you were a regular church goer and didn't volunteer at church. I left my home church because all the small things that used to bother me about my church were something that I couldn't ignore anymore. I would hear sermons but would realise how their sermons weren't really about God. There was one service where they interviewed a pastor and his wife about their life, and I realised I wasted my time going to that service. I came for God, not for them. And I wasn't growing. In fact I think I was going backwards at a very fast rate and it was alarming. I realised that a church that calls itself a church might not actually be one, and that God might not even be present at that church.

    • @KytiaLamour
      @KytiaLamour  6 лет назад

You are correct, God is not present at every church building. It does not matter how much you sing or how many scriptures are quoted, if a ministry is not submitted to God, it does way more harm than good. And I used to be like that too, I didn't understand when Christians didn't have a church home.

The church I attend is Hillsong and l love to be apart of it because it is very Biblical. Every preaching is back up by God's word in fact my preacher always starts with God's word and really only about what it says nothing is taken away or added. We are always told the Truth and nothing less. Every age group and people of different walks of life and faith are always encouraged to seek God and have a personal relationship with him. So many people are set free, people healed from cancer and doors of opportunities open. Last week service was about helping the Lost to be Found because Jesus is the great Shepard and his priority is the Lost be Found and that it should be our priority too. We also have different preachers but all preach from the Bible. People who are Found are always prayed over to go out in the world and tell people in our workplace/school/college/university about who Jesus is. Highly recommend this church to anyone, this church is local and global; "a house with many rooms". There is a church in California and in different countries as well. I attend Hillsong London. God bless you!!!

Love this video. This is even good advice for those of use who love watching sermons from pastors online. We really have to discern who is truly following Christ. When I first began going to church regularly, I would watch a few popular pastors online and after a while, my spirit just didn’t agree with them as pastors. Much of what they were preaching was inspirational, but not necessarily bible. Also, the way they carried themselves was very worldly and I believe we should not blur the distinctions between the church and the world. We are set apart for a reason.

Omg...I relate to this video 110%. I actually just made a huge decision with my husband in leaving the church weve been attending for 14 years that his parents pastor. We moved out of state to help start this ministry with them. The money part wasn't that big of an issue but the message and learning and feel that they lost the love for spreading the gospel and follow the leader and church just becoming a routine started becoming more apparent. It was one of the toughest choices and took literally years of prayer and of even visiting so many church's in the process while still being loyal to ours I noticed how many church's are lost.
I than God I found a Calvary Chapel where the Pastor truly loves and hugged my husband first day we visited as if he knew him all his life. God has a way of working thibgsouninnhis time but it brings sadness to see the state of church's. A month later I visited our old church and you would think we were invisible with the lack of acknowledgment from the people there. Really sad.
I'm.glad I'm.jkt the only one who thinks like this

Blessings Sis i love your videos im a new subscriber. This is so true i was called out of the church years ago God made me aware of man made tradions through man made denomination and it all is contrary to him hes been waking up people left and right. Years ago he revealed to me that as a black man the reason our struggle is so tuff and has been for centuries is because we're his chosen people the tribe of Judah and we are identified by the curses of Deuteronomy 28 so we are hebrew israelites rather than african Americans like we were programmed to think but upon this awakening it has been infiltrated by people who are wicked at the core and they hate white people and condemn them all to hell and curse people on corners and that is not the Spirit of God operating but there are many small groups growing that practice true christianity by Grace and love not works and still identifys as hebrew and they have churches in texas in lousiana in georgia and north carolina and florida called the School of the Hebrews and i follow their ministry online and its been such a blessing in my life and understanding who i am in Christ and as a lost tribe from the 12 tribes of Israel. Just as God through Paul was doing a new thing preaching this Gospel who people was not used to and were unfamiliar with likewise today God is moving across the globe and waking up his people to their true identity and its unfamilar to all who havent suffered like those people. But love your testimony. May God Bless you and Keep you

There is so much about this story I can relate to. It’s started to be that people who praise one another when God who use them. Me and my husband didn’t have peace with that. But what I’ve learned now is since 2015 when we finally left we have truly be learning how to seek him for ourselves and really learn from the word. Thanks for sharing.

I'm so glad to hear about your growth in your relationship with God! It's really not easy to leave, especially when people look at you like you're a heathen for it.

Omg!!! I am experiencing the same thing!!! I live in an area where a lot of the churches are under siege by religiosity. It is so difficult to find any authentic church, so I have decided to live stream Bethel Church as well as just personal bible study. I had to go thru a lot of struggle trying to validate my decision, because not only my family but some of my friends strongly disagreed with my decision. I am so thankful I am not the only one going through this major season rn!

It's not easy going against the grain, but if God calls you to do something, you will be blessed by it. You never know who else you're going to help by being obedient.

It's so sad to hear and have confirmation about what was happening to the church I was going. Praising the leader, work for the leader any issues u have talk to "daddy" so much party if I can call it like that , a birthday of the pastor was celebrated as a "king" I was everytime not okay with what I was seeing over there... members was was afraid of the leader I don't know so much that I was asking myself they members don't go direct to Jesus first the leader which is also a founder but to the leader serve the leader is was saying because if u do that u will make it in your life. That was so much for me... if I have an issue talk to "daddy" I was like hello🙄😬 so I finally live we are doing home church and it's pretty going good by HIS grace.
Thanks for sharing, may God bless you and your family 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

Thanks for this video. My husband and I are dealing with something similar right now, after going to his church a few times I told him I just refuse to go back and also I've been going to my church for 14 years. I feel like God has called me to go to my church and have it as my church home so we'll see.😞

Thank u Kytia!!! There is no such thing as a PERFECT CHURCH, but not every church OUT THERE is preaching the TRUTH. The truth is Jesus Christ, the WORD of God. The teachings should be in alignment with the WORD of GOD, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God knows what is best, if He puts it on your heart to LEAVE a certain church then you should. As Christians we need to be discerning because certain teachings or acts can affect our walk with God. Yes, nobody's perfect and let us not JUDGE one another....But we should stand up for the truth and not go along with something even when we know that it is wrong. Equipping yourself with the WORD and asking God for knowledge and wisdom is important.

+ 09.16.18: Hey Kytia, im sorry that you and family to go through different churches that are teaching out of context of the Bible. I pray that you continue to study the Word and seek God into the direction to which church to go and teaches you in the context of the love of God in your life and what He desires for your life, like 3 John 1:2. God doesn’t want you to be broke, poor, nor in bondage to anything nor anyone. I’ve had experienced in going to different churches like catholic then different Christian type churches then a Jehovah Witness one and they are all different and never gave me understanding about my relationship with God. Thankfully my brother told me about the one that he’s in and serves too, and I’ve been going there since then. Not all churches is the same, and gives you understanding of what Jesus has already done for you, so you don’t have to struggle anything, anymore. Have a beautiful Sunday! 💚

Amen, I'm trusting in God to lead me. In the meantime, He's really helped me find great teachings online, we attend a bible study, and we have our devoted time to Him daily. It's a beautiful season that was sparked by a not-so-beautiful situation.

I made a video on why I left my church. I tried to make it funny but people called me narcissistic. Said I was gossiping like the narcs in my church but I didn’t say any names and that I was a victim with victim mentality just nasty victim blaming. Abusive people are everywhere especially in the church.

Hi Kytia, Praise the Lord for your videos!
Church is the Body of Christ; Our Faith in HIM will lead us to the Lord. Hearts are deceitful (1 Peter 5:8) so we must be attentive at all times. I pray the Lord continues to lead his children, and may we always perceive and recognize his tone. Most of the time this world gets too noisy and we get distracted from what’s truly important, which is saving our soul though him. Dear Loving father, please help us remain on your path, provide us with your astonishing light, Lord; we belong to you and only you. Amen. I remember church hopping a few years ago, in less than a year i had attended about 7 different houses of worship, I was impatient, yearning and desperately seeking the Holy Father. I was raised in a catholic setting with family whom also prayed to saints, because of this, my entire life has been a spiritual battle. When I was kid, I knew something was off, I would ask myself, why do I feel this lonely each time I leave church? For example, back then, the first time I confessed and asked a priest for forgiveness- I felt worse. During that time I was thinking to myself, well, the priest said God forgave me, right? I wanted to believe but felt convicted. The empty feeling in my heart continued to get deeper. After my son was born I thought the hollowness in my heart would be filled, but I was wrong, something was still missing, until one evening while praying I cried out and begged the Lord to please lead me towards him, that I desire him and only him. The next day, on my way to work, while on the train, I picked up a card that read “sign up for bible study”. I thought to myself, ok, to see this first thing in the morning? This has to be a sign, Thank you Jesus! I felt hopeful after mailing the card. A few months went by, and one day someone knocked on my door, and no it wasn’t a Jehovah witness. To make a long story short on that day i began to study the bible with someone our Precious Lord sent, i felt alive! Once I learned that Sabbath was on (Saturday sundown to Friday sundown), there was a sigh of relief, right then and there I realized that I am now on the righteous path of TRUTH. Once you get a glimpse of the truth there is going back. I now worship the Lord on Saturdays at SDA church. Also, the emptiness in my heart no longer exists. Amen. I look forward to having a seat at the Lords table someday, to see his beautiful face. I pray the Lord continues to keep us, his children safe and sound. May he continue to bless us with Peace, Love, Wisdom, and Discernment. I also pray that those who haven’t got to know him may hear and get to know of him soon, and may they find hope in you, Righteous Father, I Adore you, amen.

When some members of a congregation become too enthusiastic about promoting the pastor to a point where there are idolising him and prioritising him over the truth of the gospel and the importance of having a relationship with Jesus Christ ...run!This has the makings of a cult. One church I used to attend handed out booklets about why it's important to obey your pastor; the Holy Spirit told me to leave and never go back. Now more than ever, I understand the importance of getting alone with God and reading the word daily.
