Randy I'm a musky fisherman up north and along with the smallmouth the livescope is ruining the musky fisheries even more than the bass. The muskies stick out like a sore thumb and are getting taken out of super deep water. Really sad because the musky fishery is way more fragile than bass or crappie because they are a low density fish and very fragile. My favorite lake is just getting crushed by scopers right now. Saw 2 floaters just yesterday. Anyway just bringing another species perspective.
It's now the fish of 10 casts unfortunately. The grind of musky fishing is what made it so great when you did get a hit. Sad that people now don't seem understand that the grind is what makes fishing and hunting rewarding.
FFS and LS has decimated our local reservoirs .By the time the state G&F people enact some limitations on what you can use and reduce the number of fish you can take, it'll be too late for many of us to live long enough to ever see the fisheries come back.

At the ramp EVERY boat i see has FFS yet my actual documented catch records show NO difference in the amount or quality I catch. In fact it just the opposite. I have spent 60 to 65 years fishing the great lakes. There is a great variety to fish for but from a very early age one fish captured my heart above all others. The Bronzeback deserves more respect than this. The meat hunters will really slaughter due to spotlighting
I tried to watch major league fishing the last couple weekends and all they are doing is standing on front deck and watching screens watched 5 min. and turned it off

Haven’t watched or followed pro fishing at any level in two years. I just pass it by on tv just not interested. Look at most pro bass guys RUclips 99% get very few views. RUclips and ffs has killed interest in the sport from the average guy like myself. Don’t see how any sponsor gives them a dime for pushing the product.
i rlly dont understand why the small local tourneys dont atleast ban it....cuz i think alot more ppl would enter that dont have the money for all the tech... so they dont even try to enter knowing they cant win

Fairness to other fisherman, both in tournaments currently and those who came before you. Does it not bother you to see scopers slaughtering records of people who didn't have cheater boxes? More importantly, fairness to the fish. I'm not sure you're familiar with the concept of fair chase but this is one of the more blatant violations. You're catching brood stock -- that's why they're so big. It's about sport. The sport of fishing necessarily includes the unknown. That's a major part of the challenge that's removed with FFS. It's about preservation. If you're knocking off brood stock, you're damaging fisheries, plain and simple. These are fish that should very rarely if ever be caught.

Spawn tournaments should be banned, but they are at least seasonal, bass only. FFS is 24/7/365 sight fishing almost regardless of water clarity and depth, against all game fish species, salt or fresh……
Watching Ben Milliken’s videos where he’s not watching the water or his rod tip or his line but staring at his screen for every fish is cringy. It’s not really fishing, it’s targeting. It seems when he catches a fish under 4 pounds it’s like he’s bothered too. It all seems like a video game to him and almost like a chore because it’s his job to catch big fish. Seems like unless he gets a huge fish he’s annoyed. Doesn’t seem fun to me.
I seen on the icast show a reel manufacturer talking about a bait caster that will tell your distance on your iPhone so you can make more accurate distance on your ffs box,so it's only getting worse.
It's interesting to see that as someone who constantly talks about how the cost of bass fishing is out of control continues to be sponsored by a company that arguably sells the most expensive baits on the market. And before you say that they are premium baits with premium components there are plenty of baits that work well for half the cost. This is BTW the same argument companies who make $100k bass boats will tell you that they are premium quality boats ...

We have a place on the St Lawrence. Watched Greg Hackney a few years ago out in the back of the bay near our place. He was the only guy who fished largemouth and made the final day. Every other boat ran to the mouth of the lake. We watched them go by every morning while we were out fishing in the river

Would someone please explain the difference between sideways radar and "forward facing" radar? My antique, flashlight battery powered, FishinBuddy has a "down" and a "sideways" mode. It has very few pixels, and crude symbols, but it works in any direction, even over open water. Aside from the greater detail, and pointing it away from the bank, what's the big difference?

My sentiments exactly social media now ffs has ruined a sport I loved. All you have to do to see how bad it’s gotten is look at an elite angler RUclips channel crickets few watch what they say. Bass and mlf are to blame for allowing this crap show. Nobody’s watching get a clue. Maybe it’s time for pro and big tournaments to go the way of the dinosaurs get back to local club tournaments. Matt Becker fished up north in the MLF and got 106 lbs in group A, just in small mouth. I agree with you, it’s not a true win when you can see every fish on a screen and find the size you want, then set the hook. I would feel horrible to win a tournament that way. Legitimate fishing or nothing. Yes, they say it’s legal, but in my opinion “I consider it legalized cheating”. Sad situation. People can say you keep the FFS debate going, but like I said on another livestream I watched. Every person on that livestream could quote things you said. Nothing about fishing tips, only about FFS. I’ll keep the fight up with you. It’s wrong in every sense of the word.
First I'd like to say. I'm a kayak fisherman. I have a raymarine chirp and downs and unit with GPS. I love power fishing. Randy. I think you have a point regarding barotrauma and perhaps the protecting deep waters aspect of your forward facing sonar position. You need some facts and data to back your position but I think you can find some studies. Thank you for not pushing for legislation in this video.
I'm watching the 2002 Bassmaster open on St Clair. I live 30 mins away. Finally have a boat. Totally useless watching current tornies to learn how to deal with St Clair w/o ffs. Props to Larry Nixon who dominated St Clair for yrs. W/o it. Smallmouth fishing is hard. Unless you're fishing a river where distance to fish isn't large. On a lake, smallmouth is elusive. Trust me. I'm a great lakes fisherman. Using a sonar on large, deep water is bull pooop garbage and a shame. It will deplete our fisheries

Seems that those over-priced FFS sellers have some competition. Guess that you would be less than excited to hear that a Chinese company (Accuphy) is developing a FFS called Ping Live Sonar that is supposed to sell for 70% less than the units currently on the market. Bonus is that it's stand alone (just needs power) and used a Wi-Fi connected iPhone or tablet for the app as a display. If people truly wanted to protect SPORT fishing the would have to banned ALL electronics... that's not going to happen. Cheers!
I think they need to change the name of these tournaments to "Target Casting for Bass" because it's not fishing for bass. It's not fishing in any sense of the word. It's simply casting at targets period. So lets call it what it is. When you can see a fish (target) on a screen and cast to it you are not fishing. Same thing when the military spots a threat on their radar, they refer to it as a target. "Sir target spotted at 50 miles" they send out a missile to intercept "THE TARGET". Then they don't say we destroyed a jet no they say target destroyed. So if you're using FFS to locate and catch fish you are casting to and catching the target on your screen. No records set should ever be recorded in actual traditional bass fishing. They should have their own records for target casting for bass. Thanks for reading my rant.

There’s no crazy technology in the NFL. There’s no crazy technology in the NBA or WNBA. There’s no crazy technology in Major league golfing, or baseball. The only sport that allows crazy technology that is 100% without a doubt cheating in its PUREST form. Is Professional fishing. It’s sad. I’m 25 years old. I don’t own a boat. I’ve only been on a boat 3 times in my life. I’ve never even seen a live scope console. If I hopped in someone’s boat tomorrow & they had this disgusting technology, I would respectfully hop out because my morals are way more important to me than catching a few extra fish. Fish that I quite frankly aren’t even meant to catch. If I’m meant to catch a fish. It’ll bite my lure & I’ll be happy because the adjustments I made to my technique resulted in success. Glad i dont just fish 3 different popular tournament lakes. I fish in MN, wi and Mi and there arethousands of incredible lakes with nobody on em most the time. Get out and fish different waters. I use to watch the tournaments if I was home or I'd have it on my boat while fishing. I haven't watched any in 2+ years, it's just not good. I follow some of you greats on you tube and facebook.

Lake Ontario is the best smallmouth fishery Bar-None. Kinda sad to see it come to this.. Had all sorts of bass boats in my life time. Do mostly kayak fishing now in the skinny water. With the advancement of FFS I doubt I’ll ever buy a bass boat again.

Fish local tournaments in the land of 10k lakes right in the middle of the Bass heaven. Nobody has ffs...2 boats in one league and 1 in another. 1 in 10 hard core Bass guys have it. And none really know how to read it. You are in a very small circle Randy. Ruining competitive fishing for your generation, yes, but they said the same about the flasher when u watched that fish come up to your bait. Love your content Randy. Sounds like "Professional" duck hunting guides around here. They intentionally flood corn fields, then flood them with irrigation pumps and keep the water running past when everything freezes up holding tons of birds that would normally keep going south. They'll bring in multiple groups of hunters a day all limiting out 6 birds.
Reminds me of when they used traffic cones to peep em out. Can’t look at their butts now, just the back of their heads. Luckily that’s not x rated. Yet.
You can't be serious! Whether the fish bites or not, you just increased your odds of catching that fish by knowing it's there. Then you increase the odds again when you can cast at it and literally put the lure IN IT'S FACE! Then you can alter your retrieve to try getting it to react. You don't know what fishing is and probably can't catch a fish without FFS!

@@thomasebsen8821 exactly! Through the ice, a flasher straight above them is different than putting your FFS down the hole and turning it until you see the school of crappies 30 yards away. Drill holes above them, catch more and school moves another 30 yards away. Drill more holes catch another half dozen and keep repeating! You follow them everywhere they go. I've been a part of that a few years back. Yes, it was fun catching them like crazy, but it's not good for our fisheries and future. Our kids are gonna have limits and slots that are ridiculous when FFS is used by just about every angler on the open water or on the ice. Crappie and Musky will be most affected.
@@bobh6583 Nothing to be concerned at all . Every state has possession limits, period. Ffs doesn't change a thing. If the DNR thinks we need to change the limits they do. Nothing to worry about. Sonars, beginning with the first one allow us to catch more fish so you can't single out ffs. Sonars are all the same. Again Ffs doesn't make fish bite.

But until you can actually provide some hard facts, obtained using the actual scientific method, blind of bias, all you have is anecdotal opinions. Would someone please explain the difference between sideways radar and "forward facing" radar? My antique, flashlight battery powered, FishinBuddy has a "down" and a "sideways" mode. It has very few pixels, and crude symbols, but it works in any direction, even over open water. Aside from the greater detail, and pointing it away from the bank, what's the big difference?

My sentiments exactly social media now ffs has ruined a sport I loved. All you have to do to see how bad it’s gotten is look at an elite angler RUclips channel crickets few watch what they say. Bass and mlf are to blame for allowing this crap show. Nobody’s watching get a clue. Maybe it’s time for pro and big tournaments to go the way of the dinosaurs get back to local club tournaments.

Matt Becker fished up north in the MLF and got 106 lbs in group A, just in small mouth. I agree with you, it’s not a true win when you can see every fish on a screen and find the size you want, then set the hook. I would feel horrible to win a tournament that way. Legitimate fishing or nothing. Yes, they say it’s legal, but in my opinion “I consider it legalized cheating”. Sad situation. People can say you keep the FFS debate going, but like I said on another livestream I watched. Every person on that livestream could quote things you said. Nothing about fishing tips, only about FFS. I’ll keep the fight up with you. It’s wrong in every sense of the word.

I'm watching the 2002 Bassmaster open on St Clair. I live 30 mins away. Finally have a boat. Totally useless watching current tornies to learn how to deal with St Clair w/o ffs. Props to Larry Nixon who dominated St Clair for yrs. W/o it. Smallmouth fishing is hard. Unless you're fishing a river where distance to fish isn't large. On a lake, smallmouth is elusive. Trust me. I'm a great lakes fisherman. Using a sonar on large, deep water is bull pooop garbage and a shame. It will deplete our fisheries

Seems that those over-priced FFS sellers have some competition.
Guess that you would be less than excited to hear that a Chinese company (Accuphy) is developing a FFS called Ping Live Sonar that is supposed to sell for 70% less than the units currently on the market.
Bonus is that it's stand alone (just needs power) and used a Wi-Fi connected iPhone or tablet for the app as a display.
If people truly wanted to protect SPORT fishing the would have to banned ALL electronics... that's not going to happen.

I think they need to change the name of these tournaments to "Target Casting for Bass" because it's not fishing for bass. It's not fishing in any sense of the word. It's simply casting at targets period. So lets call it what it is. When you can see a fish (target) on a screen and cast to it you are not fishing. Same thing when the military spots a threat on their radar, they refer to it as a target. "Sir target spotted at 50 miles" they send out a missile to intercept "THE TARGET". Then they don't say we destroyed a jet no they say target destroyed. So if you're using FFS to locate and catch fish you are casting to and catching the target on your screen. No records set should ever be recorded in actual traditional bass fishing. They should have their own records for target casting for bass. Thanks for reading my rant.

There’s no crazy technology in the NFL. There’s no crazy technology in the NBA or WNBA. There’s no crazy technology in Major league golfing, or baseball. The only sport that allows crazy technology that is 100% without a doubt cheating in its PUREST form. Is Professional fishing. It’s sad. I’m 25 years old. I don’t own a boat. I’ve only been on a boat 3 times in my life. I’ve never even seen a live scope console. If I hopped in someone’s boat tomorrow & they had this disgusting technology, I would respectfully hop out because my morals are way more important to me than catching a few extra fish. Fish that I quite frankly aren’t even meant to catch. If I’m meant to catch a fish. It’ll bite my lure & I’ll be happy because the adjustments I made to my technique resulted in success. Screw live scope. Fish real or don’t fish at all.

I don’t even watch tournaments anymore. It’s sad because I truly have tons of passion for bass fishing and pride myself in the skills I’ve learned the past 50 years. It’s completely a joke now. Glad i dont just fish 3 different popular tournament lakes. I fish in MN, wi and Mi and there arethousands of incredible lakes with nobody on em most the time. Get out and fish different waters. Smallie fishing in the UP is stupid still. Largie fishing across northern and central mn saaame. And northern wisconsin.
I use to watch the tournaments if I was home or I'd have it on my boat while fishing. I haven't watched any in 2+ years, it's just not good. I follow some of you greats on you tube and facebook.

Lake Ontario is the best smallmouth fishery Bar-None. Kinda sad to see it come to this.. Had all sorts of bass boats in my life time. Do mostly kayak fishing now in the skinny water. With the advancement of FFS I doubt I’ll ever buy a bass boat again.

Anyway, I'm in 2 leagues with 16-20 boats each. Fish local tournaments in the land of 10k lakes right in the middle of the Bass heaven. Nobody has ffs...2 boats in one league and 1 in another. 1 in 10 hard core Bass guys have it. And none really know how to read it. You are in a very small circle Randy. Ruining competitive fishing for your generation, yes, but they said the same about the flasher when u watched that fish come up to your bait. Love your content Randy. But i feel your hyper focused on a minor issue.

Sounds like "Professional" duck hunting guides around here. They intentionally flood corn fields, then flood them with irrigation pumps and keep the water running past when everything freezes up holding tons of birds that would normally keep going south. They'll bring in multiple groups of hunters a day all limiting out 6 birds.

You can't be serious! Whether the fish bites or not, you just increased your odds of catching that fish by knowing it's there. Then you increase the odds again when you can cast at it and literally put the lure IN IT'S FACE! Then you can alter your retrieve to try getting it to react. You don't know what fishing is and probably can't catch a fish without FFS!

@@thomasebsen8821 exactly! Through the ice, a flasher straight above them is different than putting your FFS down the hole and turning it until you see the school of crappies 30 yards away. Drill holes above them, catch more and school moves another 30 yards away. Drill more holes catch another half dozen and keep repeating! You follow them everywhere they go. I've been a part of that a few years back. Yes, it was fun catching them like crazy, but it's not good for our fisheries and future. Our kids are gonna have limits and slots that are ridiculous when FFS is used by just about every angler on the open water or on the ice.

@@bobh6583 Nothing to be concerned at all . Every state has possession limits, period. Ffs doesn't change a thing. If the DNR thinks we need to change the limits they do. Nothing to worry about. Sonars, beginning with the first one allow us to catch more fish so you can't single out ffs. Sonars are all the same. Again Ffs doesn't make fish bite.
