@@monkeyluv his cage is actually very small for a hamster its better than those plastic critter trail ones but he should try to at least go up to a 40 gal tank, the bigger the better these little guys can run like 5 miles in a night. Really he just needs to upgrade the size of the tank, the size of the wheel, put more bedding and a sand bath.
Friendly advice hamsters require LARGE cages, Niteangel has great options to chose from, but bin cages or even a 40 gallon breeder, 20 quartz DIY Bin cage, is good enough. A cage for a hamster should meet 450 square inches bare minimum and you should have 6 inches at the least for them to burrow. The Higgin's sunburst with rat and mouse blocks will be more beneficial for your hammy or a similar food with similar nutrition values on the back. Tip for wheels they should be large enough for their back not to arch as well. 8-12 inches not wired is best for them :) I hope this helps, she is adorable!!
i’m sorry but you need to do some research on proper hamster care, no hate or anything because you didn’t know but she needs a bigger tank, i’m not sure what the minimum is in the us but its around the same as in the uk which is 100x50cm, she needs more bedding: 8-10 inches, a bigger wheel as she’s bending her back and causing damage to her spine on that one, syrians should have an 11inch+ wheel, and loads of different substrates, a sand bath, a bunch of enrichment such as forage mixes, sprays, cork log, and loads more hides
In the US a 40 gallon breeder tank is the recommended minimum meeting. 450 square inch minimum of floor space, but a 75 gallon tank is required to meet the new minimum recommended standard, California Hamster Association, of 600 square inches for Syrians... However the Sterilite 200 quart bin/50 gallon meets the 600 square inches recommended minimum which is much more affordable and lighter than a 75 gallon tank...

I know you have gotten some of this advice already, but you need at least 6 inches of bedding, a bigger cage(40 gallon breeder tank works), watch Victoria Raechel for hamster care advice, take out that wood log because that’s dangerous with the wood shavings that are in it, and get her an at least 10 inch wheel. The dog chews are great. I also recommend to not let your dogs in the room cause that could stress out your hamster. And when trying to bond with your hamster, wait around 2 weeks for her to settle and don’t try and pick her up. Instead you can put your hand in with a treat for her so she can get used to your sent(Use a piece of her seed mix once a day, sugary treats/bigger treats once a week). A good food is the Sunburst seed mix with the Mazuri rat and mouse diet pellets. No seed mix has enough crude proteins. That’s why this is the best. Use two of those pellets in her dish with 2 tablespoons of the sunburst seed mix. For added enrichment use no dye, calcium, safe sand to keep your hamster clean since they cannot be bathed in water. And finally, the hamster ball is very unsafe.
What a stressful video!!! I hope you have taken note of all your comments and that Hammy is now living a better life. At the very least I hope you have gotten her a much bigger wheel, lots more bedding and somewhere to hide.
Aww hammy seems adorable, i think you should keep that name! I've seen a lot of great tips on how to improve on hammy's setup but i'd like to add on some too/ summarise a lil 1. I'm not sure what your current cage size is but id recommend one which is at least 100cmx50cmx50cm so that you can fill it up with lots of enrichment for hammy :> especially since she is a female Syrian, if you could get an even larger cage please do so, so u can fill it up with even more enrichment cos female Syrians tend to get bored easily 2. Bedding depth! more bedding so she can burrow, minimum 10 inches ( it'll be super fun for u to watch hammy burrow, u can see the little tunnels she makes at the side of the cage ) 3. Discontinue the usage of the exercise ball as it can be quite dangerous - they can get their feet stuck, disoriented, and or stressed 4. Relating to the first point - lots of enrichment like boredom breakers, sprays, forage herbs and different substrates to dig in ^ different textures such as pebbles to help trim their nails too 5. Keep any other pets away from hammy, make sure that they aren't in the same room. The scent of your dogs/ loud movements can really scare her 6. Multiple hides and try to make it more cluttered so that she has more hiding spaces and it will help her feel safer! 7. Sand bath areas are necessary too! As hammies cant bathe in water, they need sand to remove the grease. (Baked + sifted play sand and calcium-free reptile sand are some of the options avail. You can also use chinchilla sand, make sure it is sand and not powder tho!) also, make sure that the bedding isn't dusty so that it doesn't irritate her respiratory system, and if u do add any wooden items or substrate, ensure that it is safe hamster wood (Hardwoods with low tannin content and no leaking sap) I'm also not sure what food you are feeding her but id recommend Rodipet if its avail or some German hamster food mix as they have more variety and meet the nutrition requirements for hammies This isn't a comprehensive list tho, id recommends that you check out Victoria Rachels videos or the Hamster Clubhouse Website!
I love the size of the aquarium that you got her, but you need to give her a minimum of 5 inches of bedding. Give at least 2 weeks to settle in to her new home. A Syrian should have a wheel with a diameter of no less than 10 inches. Sorry if this sounded bossy but hamsters are not toys and should be respected and tested correctly.
No, the cage size definitely isn't proper at all. The minimum size is 450 sq. inches, but it's better to aim higher when you have a syrian. The tank he got for his hamster is around 240 sq. inches.
go watch some of victoria raechels videos!! she gives you great advice. i have 2 hamsters and they have a 75 gallon tank, proper food, and 10 inches of bedding, sprays, sand bath, and a night angel wheel.❤❤❤ i have had one of them for 3 years that’s how good the care is. also hamster balls are very unsafe for hamsters, they cause a lot of stress even tho you think they don’t. when they scream like your hamster that means they are very scared and very stressed. i recommend keeping dogs cats and any other animal away from the hamster all the time. the hamster will think that it is eating them and again… it causes alot of stress to them. just some things for u to think abt!!! this video was very hard for me to watch, i was SOO STRESSED OUT WATCHING THIS, i hope you consider trying some of the stuff i said out because i know your hamster does not like it new home, also plz go educate yourself a lot more on hamsters, and dont just randomly get one when u have no idea what your doing to that hamster, also when u just saw ur hamster for the first time…he wasn’t high…he was just very tired because you woke him up somehow. finally please do not pick your hamster up for at least 4-5 days …they will have a lot of anxiety. if there still not ready give them a few more days, or even weeks! lm not trying to be disrespectful i just want to help! i hope this helps! 😊

Beautiful little Hamster, take a look at Victoria Rachels hamster videos, you will need a bigger wheel so she doesn't hurt her back and an upgraded enclosure so make her feel less stressed 🙃
the poor hamster bro, at first i thought the comments were being too harsh but after watching the vid, dude u really shouldve done more research :/ please do better.
Please educate yourself before getting a pet you LITERALLY did everything that could possibly go wrong, wrong. The setup, the cage, YOUR CARE BECAUSE SHE IS SCARED DONT YOU HEAR HER SCREAMING?? Cage is too small, she has no hides, the food is bad, wheel is WAY too small and wheres the bedding?? Thats not enough. You could just google like a normal person about hamster care. And just so you know you are supposed to leave the hamster at least 1-2 weeks alone AND NOT TOUCH HER no wonder she bit you. And tf is that ball??? these balls are bad for hamsters. And the dogs bro keep them away from her. You make her feel stressed and scared I feel so bad for her you are a terrible hamster owner. Maybe give her to a better person who knows how to care for a hamster. And oh I almost forgot colored bedding is bad for hamsters.
You need: much bigger cage, bigger wheel, better diet, to keep them dogs away, more bedding, you should have told your mom before, dont give edible hideouts, no ball. Watch Victoria rachel
The dogs being intrigued by hammy reminds me of when I had a pet bird and my cat ATE it and tore into 2 PEICES. Rip bird 🐦 Also the name hammy needs to stay. I had named my bird boobies lmao
I'm sorry, but this is just terrible. You are doing nearly everything wrong when it comes to having a hamster. I feel so bad for her :( If you continue like this, she will suffer and feel stressed 24/7, which will ultimately lead to her passing away much sooner.. Please do your research.
I'm also a hamster owner, and hope it's fine if I share a few things here to help your hamster live a more comfortable life. It's great you picked a tank instead of those crappy pet store cages, but syrians need more space than that. Female syrians specifically need much more to be satisfied. 500 sq in enclosure is the minimum recommend for syrians, but ideally you should go for something bigger for females. R/hamstercare subreddit has lots of resources to help find something more suitable for her You would also need to give her more bedding to let her properly build burrows She also needs a much bigger wheel ASAP. 10 inch minimum for syrians. You probably notice her spine is curved when she tries to run on that wheel, which means the wheel is too small and that is very bad. It will cause spine damage over time if that is not addressed ASAP Also last thing, it would be better to handle her only when necessary (for right now, until she settles in more), keep her out of the hamster ball, keep her away from the dogs as much as possible. She is screaming a lot, meaning she is scared, and her being around dogs (predator animals) will only cause her more stress.
If you still want to use a tank for her home I highly suggest buying her a 40 gallon breeder (not sure how big your tank is) 10-12' wheel so her back doesn't curve and 8' or more of bedding since they love to burrow🐹
Your hamster is very cute, but sorry I have a few things to complain about. The enclosure is too small for your hamster, the bigger the better, but at least 100x 50x50cm. I think your enclosure is smaller. You should also not use plastic and the hamster wheel is too small, it should be at least 30cm in diameter for the hamster you have. And he needs a real house to hide in and a box of chinchilla sand.
Some helpful advice to carry her takes time please don’t force her in you hand she’s stressed because she’s in a new environment leave her for a week just to get her settled in and you can try putting treats in you hand so she gets used to your scent
I have two hamsters and they make a mess. My neighbor has a dog and I take them down, but if I take him out of the cage, yeah the dog will start running after him so do not let him out of the cage and opening the door and going so take care of them
Hey! I know people have already said this but I recommend watching Victoria raechels hamster videos. I would also recommend deeper bedding ( 6 inches at the least), a bigger wheel (because if your hamster has a wheel that is too small their backs will bend which will give your hamster serious back injuries), getting a sand bath so that hammy can clean herself, a bigger cage would be good as well ( at least a 40 gallon cage), and give your hammy time, if she is sqeeling it means that she is scared! Oh and also keep dogs/cats or any other animal that could be a predator to a hamster away from their cage, thanks for reading 😊.
I feel so bad. I gave a girl hamster to and she never screamed at me like this. He didn’t even let her settle in or anything. Please watch Victoria Rachel. That’s who I watched and my hamster is happy and healthy.
BROOOOO U CAN WATCH VICTORIA RAECHEL. DONT GET A HAMSTER BALL AND WHY ARE U LETTING THE DOGS BE AROUND HER, THINK FOR A SEC, U KNOW SHE CAN DIE OF BEING SCARED. THIS IS NOT A HATE COMMENT…😢😮
I would recommend a bigger wheel. A wheel that size is better for dwarf and Chinese hamsters is what i would say but you can look at some of Victoria Raechel’s videos on wheels. Hope that helps :D
Cage too small. Wheel to small. Not enough bedding. Grabbed the hamster to put it into the cage. No sand bath. Touching the ham while it screams. How about informing about the pet you are going to get? :)
do not where gloves because they will never get used to your smell i have a winter white hamptser and his name is nugget just trust me it will adapt to you without gloves but dont put your finger in its mouth when it wakes up or is eating because it could bite
Her wheel is WAAY TO SMALL and the bedding needs to be AT LEAST 6 inches deep so that the hamster can burrow Next time if u get a pet u need to do a lot of research 😅😅
Hamsters chew through wood, so wooly gloves are nothing lol youd need heavy duty gloves for those teeth. But you shouldve stuck to trying to hand feed her first and get her used to you like that... Picking her up is the last step. Petstore hamsters are rarely handled
Everyone's upset with him, but we can all agree petco/petsmart is responsible as well. They be advertising horrible cages for almost every animal they have😭
Its best to leave your hamster alone completely for at least 3 days. Also if you want to have contact with your hamster get the dogs out of the room! That hamster was TERRIFIED.
This is absolutely the most disturbing bringing home a new hamster video I’ve ever seen. First off you have no idea what you’re doing. She’s absolutely petrified, ditch the ball, etc you sir should never of gotten a pet
that is strange. i must of got lucky. mines is a male hamster. syrian long hair. i got mines from pet smart. the 1st day i got the hamster it tryed to bite me the 1st day. it did not scream or anything it was just jumpy. then the 2nd day i notice it was cleaning it self in the cage in front of me. i open the cage. no gloves or anything. i was ready ready to get bitting so i just put my hand in the cage to see if it will go on my hand. and it went on my hand and i sat on the couch. and i let it run around on the couch. and it even let me pick it up. now my hamster is my best friend. hes name is hami to. it bite me once but i did not bleed. i think its because it smell food on my hands. then afther that even if my hand smelled like food it did not bite no more. i think when it 1st bite me it was just checking if it was really food.
This made me laugh when he said 'that's her on the picture, so that's how you know it's the right one for her.' Or words to that affect lol. Please do your research before getting ANY pet.
Please watch Victoria Rachael videos for proper hamster care, we only say this coz we care. She’s screaming coz she’s scared. You prob won’t read all these and be ignorant. She needs a deeper tank with lots of bedding to dig and a bigger wheel too cause that small one can cause back injures to her
Some helpful advice to carry her takes time please don’t force her in you hand she’s stressed because she’s in a new environment leave her for a week just to get her settled in and you can try putting treats in you hand so she gets used to your scent
Hamsters DO NOT stink?
Do your research.
Putting her cage next to the TV ...
very bad idea. The noise stresses them out.
THIS made me angry! Not good, she was terrified!
I have two hamsters and they make a mess. My neighbor has a dog and I take them down, but if I take him out of the cage, yeah the dog will start running after him so do not let him out of the cage and opening the door and going so take care of them
What is wrong with you! EDUCATE YOURSELF! and keep those dogs away. LISTEN TO THE COMMENTS.
Tbh im so sorry for that cutie but i hope u have a better Cafe and more Things to climb and smth
Bro, forgot the sand bath😂
Technically hamsters don't really need those... but they're definitely nice
BROOOOO U CAN WATCH VICTORIA RAECHEL. DONT GET A HAMSTER BALL AND WHY ARE U LETTING THE DOGS BE AROUND HER, THINK FOR A SEC, U KNOW SHE CAN DIE OF BEING SCARED. THIS IS NOT A HATE COMMENT…😢😮
The poor hamster💔💔💔
And you need to have a Biggi wehl
Try and hide ur finger tips bc that’s where hamsters bite, sometimes xx
That's A Teddy Bear Hamster... At Least That's The Price Tag You Tapped On In The Store...
I would recommend a bigger wheel. A wheel that size is better for dwarf and Chinese hamsters is what i would say but you can look at some of Victoria Raechel’s videos on wheels. Hope that helps :D
THE WHEEL TO YOUER HAMSTER IS TO SMALL 😢😢❤
She is completely terrified
A bigger wheel could avoid back injuries :)
Cage too small. Wheel to small. Not enough bedding. Grabbed the hamster to put it into the cage. No sand bath. Touching the ham while it screams. How about informing about the pet you are going to get? :)
Poor hamster
- cage too small
- If the impeller is too small, the back will bend
- bad and too little peat
do not where gloves because they will never get used to your smell i have a winter white hamptser and his name is nugget just trust me it will adapt to you without gloves but dont put your finger in its mouth when it wakes up or is eating because it could bite
but the hamster looks so cute and good job getting a larger cage :)
That's such a small cage though 😭
That wheel is painful
❤❤ You have a hamster.I'm gonna name her salisha
I can't get her solicia
I’d recommend getting a 11 inch wheel and a little bit bigger cage
At least he didn’t get two… 🫠
Hi!!! Just too let you know, your bedding has about 3-2 inches of bedding and they need at least 6-8 inches for burrowing 🫶
Her wheel is WAAY TO SMALL and the bedding needs to be AT LEAST 6 inches deep so that the hamster can burrow
Next time if u get a pet u need to do a lot of research 😅😅
Hamsters chew through wood, so wooly gloves are nothing lol youd need heavy duty gloves for those teeth. But you shouldve stuck to trying to hand feed her first and get her used to you like that... Picking her up is the last step. Petstore hamsters are rarely handled
Everyone's upset with him, but we can all agree petco/petsmart is responsible as well. They be advertising horrible cages for almost every animal they have😭
Please keep any big animals away from the hamster or if you have no other choice keep the hamster a bit high up
Her screaming means she’s scared also DO NOT put a camera with a light up in her face
Give the hamster 24 hr to get used to the enviroment
Watch Victoria Rachel’s hamster videos please
MY heart skipped a beat 9:27
The one you bought usually that how it looks when it’s gonna die
Its best to leave your hamster alone completely for at least 3 days. Also if you want to have contact with your hamster get the dogs out of the room! That hamster was TERRIFIED.
This is absolutely the most disturbing bringing home a new hamster video I’ve ever seen. First off you have no idea what you’re doing. Research Research Research that cage is way too small, she needs at least 10 inches of bedding, stop 1:38 GRABBING HER!!! She’s absolutely petrified, ditch the ball, etc you sir should never of gotten a pet
i was leaving petco and saw yo ah running in the parking lot after a bag or some shit lol
That wheel is going to really hurt her back. Syrians need at least a 10 inch wheel, fyi.
I would name her ravioli
I think food calms her down😅😂
Hamster torture for views is not cool
I love it but please invest in a 12 inch wheel and a 35-40 gallon tank
that is strange. i must of got lucky. mines is a male hamster. syrian long hair. i got mines from pet smart. the 1st day i got the hamster it tryed to bite me the 1st day. it did not scream or anything it was just jumpy. then the 2nd day i notice it was cleaning it self in the cage in front of me. i open the cage. no gloves or anything. i was ready ready to get bitting so i just put my hand in the cage to see if it will go on my hand. and it went on my hand and i sat on the couch. and i let it run around on the couch. and it even let me pick it up. now my hamster is my best friend. hes name is hami to. it bite me once but i did not bleed. i think its because it smell food on my hands. then afther that even if my hand smelled like food it did not bite no more. i think when it 1st bite me it was just checking if it was really food.
hey you need like 3 times bigger wheel for her or shes gonna hurt her spine😢
Maybe the wheel isn't to small it could b the way the camera is Ngled I do apologise about that
poor hammy shes stressed out with him abd his dogs
I don’t even have a hamster and I even know that this isn’t proper care
You need to give her time!!
Please don’t use the cleaning spray opt for a sand bath instead
i don’t even want to say anything i thought we left this dumbass trend in 2020 but i guess not.
You have to have a bigger cage and you need Sand so the hamster can bath
This made me laugh when he said 'that's her on the picture, so that's how you know it's the right one for her.' Or words to that affect lol. Please do your research before getting ANY pet.
The wheel is to small to your syrian hamster
Keep the name hammy it’s great
A good food for hamsters is VitaPrima.
I feel sorry for u baby hams 😭
I’m sorry to say this but they need a hideout and more bedding pls watch Victoria Rachel and pls don’t try to pick her up in the text ten days
This is pure torture for the little guy.
Please please upgrade to the proper care! Its stressful when they dont have proper care!
poor hamster
Please watch Victoria Rachael videos for proper hamster care, we only say this coz we care. She’s screaming coz she’s scared. You prob won’t read all these and be ignorant. You really NEED to do your research you don’t deserve a hamster or any animal, you wouldn’t lock a dog in a bathroom and call l it a living space….
