  • Which makes more sense 70-300 for Lumix S or Fuji XF
    Please note: I made a mistake the Lumix lens is f/4.5 - 5.6 not f/4 - 5.6

With the Fujifilm you would reach the desired 450mm without a converter - which presumably would result in better image quality versus the converted Lumix lens. Plus the sensor in XS-10 with image stabilization is really good. The downside is lack of weather resistance in XS-10. I would keep the X-T3 and get the image stabilized 70-300 for a weather resistant kit.

All good points, I look forward to comparing IQ. For me lightweight and IBIS trumps the WR which motivates my interest in the XS-10. If I switch the camera it will be the last thing I do.

@@Scot_Photo The difference between the two cameras is 74 grams. The question is, do you really need the IBIS in addition to the OIS on the lens for the loss of WR.

Hi. I tested the Fuji 70-300 and I liked it very much. Much better than I expected. Noticeable loss of quality with 2x extender. It will be very difficult to shoot with a 2X extender in low light. Not yet sold in Turkey. I will buy it on Friday. (Sorry for bad English)

I made a mistake the Lumix lens is actually f/4.5 - 5.6 not f/4 - 5.6 not a big deal but worth noteing it is 1/3 a stop different.

It seems to me that the Panasonic L-Mount lenses are a bit overpriced (as are a lot of mirrorless lenses currently). I remember buying my Nikon 70-300mm F4-5.6 VR lens about 12 years ago for about a quarter of the price of that new Panasonic lens! The Fuji X-S10 paired with that new 70-300mm lens is an attractive option, especially given that you can use 1.4x & 2x converters on it-winner!

But it’s not apples to apples comparison. Why not add in M43? A used G9 and LUMIX 100-300 (200-600mm equivalent) or Lumix 100-400mm. Super light and small.

Not not at all it's definitely apples to oranges, But I actually did test them together and the results were interesting. As for M4/3 use to be a proud ownder and definitely another option if I still owned one I would have thrown it into the mix. With all of them there are pros vs cons so in the end you have decide if you want an apple or an orange.

Are you not aware that Panasonic accepts Olympus lens? That Olympus has a 100-400 lens, no extra body, Fuji to carrying around, now that’s easier and lighter than carrying around another ‘system’ around with you.

Well yes but the S5 is a full frame 35 camera and not M4/3 so it's out of contention. Although an argument can be made for using M4/3 for a second body. I owned several M4/3 cameras and they are very good but for reasons beyond the scope of this answer I moved on.
