Ken gave me the idea with the bottom shock balls. I just carefully pulled them all off and used a heated crafting hook to melt a hole dead center. Just big enough to fit the driver. Took an exacto knive and shaved axles just enough to get the screw in nice an straight. I can pull them off with ease now and not have to worry about replacing them and use the little bit of disability
allowance i get per month, somewhere else on the rig. Thanks again Ken.

Thanks for the heads up about the 2mm single barrel fishing line crimp sleeves. I just ordered some to fix the slop in the 2.5mm holes in the stainless steel high clearance links pivot balls on my FX118 Fury Wagon being the mounting screws are only 2mm. They will work excellent to fix the slop in the pivot balls.

I am glad Tyler is making links still, he makes some of the best! He hasn't responded to my request in quite some time so I figured he may be busy with that rebranding! I will try hitting him up again soon!

I ended up getting the HC links from 828RC, and was unpleasantly surprised to find out they were just thin sheathing around some all-thread (both the brass and the aluminum). Esp for how much they cost. You didn't happen to weigh them by chance? I didn't feel like taking the whole truck apart again just to weigh the links so I did a guess based on the front steering links and was even more disappointed. Turns out the aluminum steering links weighed a total 4.8g, the brass came in at 6g... not as big of a difference as one would expect between "brass" and "aluminum", but makes more sense when you realize the only actual difference between them is the very thin sheathing around the all-thread. The only reason I even realized that much was cause almost every time I've had the truck out, even without tumbling or being hard on it, the links were popping out of the ends from something as simple as the tire getting stuck and the axle torquing.
Then I discovered that the Redcat brass steering link (since they only did the main one) actually weighs more than 828's "brass" steering links. Thankfully Injora and Treal have since come out with their own upgrades and their steering links weight 11g and 13g respectfully. Heck, Injora's stainless links appear to have a solid 20% more weight for their suspension links than 828's brass set.
Just wanted to put this out there incase anyone else wasn't aware that a lot of the 3rd party upgrade links aren't quite what they appear to be esp for the high price. But that's also mostly on me for not asking enough questions beforehand and getting caught up with his selection of available colors.

I was not aware of their construction but I know man others are built the same way. I have not had any issues with the links end pulling out of the threading though.

Nice upgrade vid! The red links look great on your rig and you'll gain some durability. Maybe injora will have some high clearance links soon, and maybe some metal driveshafts

ya.. anti squat/dive is far more complex due not just the geometry of the links, but takes into account sprung weight, shock mounting positions(it would be muut if there was no shocks and your rear would never squat for example), and the radius of your tires/wheels and distance from the center of the axle, plus center of gravity. i've had many a discussion and yes, absolutely, it is very controversial. this is why I like kits with lots of mounting hole options to find that best setup vs rtr

cool build., I can't seem to find the stock weight in grams of the redact ascent 18? I added brass front links plus steering link. and aluminum rears also hot glued two dead AA'S on front under hood and one on each slider. added an incredible amount of stability and crawls over anything. batteries were 92 grams total.

stock truck is 393 with battery is 437. Pretty sure I did a 4 corner scale on it in my deep dive video. Def check that video out

Yep, for sure. Drilling out the center will 100% help. Also wanna be sure you full support the plastic link end when twisting it off.
