It's great to see these golden oldies gracing our screens, even if only for a chin wag. TV itself should dedicate a show for these superstars of their day. Some footballing theme show that puts them back in the spotlight, instead of them been forgotten. They made many people happy back in the day with their individual skills. There's an audience out there wishing to see these great players, even if it is only talking about the game.
Hear hear but unfortunately it will never happen as they are destroying our national game right the way through including forgetting these legends and it's because they are primarily natives and white......
I appreciate what you're saying, I'd go further though. Compared with the late 50s/60s and 70s, there's a poverty of talent now. That's going to upset some people, but there it is. If I were to list them, it would be a bloody long item. Think of Best, Law and Osgood - to name but three. That's another thing whilst we're here. The way in which England managers squandered talent. Currie mentioned that here regarding Frank Worthington I've mentioned Osgood; it beggars belief that he only had three or four caps. Small wonder the national side languished for so long. Do forgive me for going off on one...just got here on the back of a Hudson/Osgood memory lane extravaganza.
TC was a fantastic player for all clubs he played for, Alan Hudson another great player.and not a interview cliché in sight ie the lads are taking each as it comes . The clubs have trained today's player to say what they wanted not the player.. real characters Hudson,Currie and Frank Worthington RIP
Frankie Wortho, Weller and Glover were my favourites at Leicester as a teenager. Marvellous players. Currie, Hudson, Bowles, Weller and Frank were all overlooked by England. Ridiculous!! I still recall the photo of the Birch and TC having a kiss on the pitch. Happy days. Thanks for this tribute. Very good.
Great players. Great to see and listening, did watch you all three as a kid on swedish TV, who sent one full game every saturday back in the 70's. And fondly remember also when Frank Worthington (R.I.P) played a summer here in Sweden in the 80's with Mjällby. Loved the football played back then. Still does.
Frank was my hero when I was growing up in Huddersfield. Class player and you do wonder what would have happened with his career had he passed the Liverpool medical. Apparently he went out on the pi** the night before and didn’t get much sleep. RIP Frank.
Frank may well have been the player who would've got us past Poland in that woeful WCQ at Wembley in 1973. Just like snooker, Frank was a 'two shots ahead' kind of player, a true visionary.
Had the privilege of seeing both Tony and Frank playing for Leeds. Perhaps Frank wasn't at his best at Leeds but his charm and skill still shone through. Memorable games at Sheff.Weds and Newcastle in the Milk Cup spring to mind.
After all this time these are the players the fans remember the most. The most talented, creative, match winning players. Now understanding the hardships & difficulties they faced increases my admiration for them.
they used to go on about the golden generation, Frank Lampard, Beckham, Gerrard etc if they were the golden generation, god knows what TC, Hudson, Worthington, Bowles would have been called or their worth these days.
I can also add those players didn't have custom made personalised boots, instead of the luxury of a manicured Desso pitch, played week in/out on some 'amazing' pitches (Baseball Ground/Victoria Ground/St Andrews/Stamford Bridge) then add in each and every team had at least one 'stopper' ( Chopper Harris/ Charlton-Hunter-Bremner/Mackay/Tommy Smith to mention but a few) if VAR was around in the 70's games would have lasted all day and finished 5v5
Worthington was a great player, saw him playing for Huddersfield against my team Bristol City. He stood out even then. True character in an era of great characters
I was at that game at Goodison when Bally sat on the ball. I was within spitting distance at the time and it was as if the game stopped and time stood still. He had that much confidence in his own ability.
I was at Euston station one sat morning being a Leeds fan going to stoke in the 70,ls we met Alan Hudson's mum and dad on the train there son Alan playing for Stoke lovely lovely people they liked us so much they offered us march tickets for the game we said no thanks we want to be with the Leeds fans behind the goal but Alan's parents so lovely guess who scored the winning goal you guessed it
great video, what supreme talents huddy, TC and worthy were, a golden era for sure, revie was criminal in his neglect of these terrific players, i think it was a tragedy that stoke weren't champions in 75 and also QPR featuring the great stan bowles the following year
Tony thanks for this podcast. Always been a head scratcher as for why these two gentlemen, Frank and players of their ilk were shunned on the international stage. Wad The God, Joe Mercer or Cloughie at the helm and a different story!
I think what u had back in the day,was every Team had some quality or even Brilliant individuals who understood the idea and responsibility to produce entertainment for the fans! So even though ur Team may have got beaten,u still had the potential to see one of ur players produce quality football & of course u always wanted to win,but the fans always appreciated quality, skill and flamboyance!
@@thealanhudsonpodcast9097 And I was just watching a quick Vid of the Legendary Bobby Moore! My goodness he was frightening! I can only think of Franco Barasi, Paolo Maldini,Paul McGrath and perhaps Tony Adams! Who had the ability and personality to dominate a game!
Unfortunately the 3 of them never achieved their club greatness at international level. That's just an uncomfortable fact. At internationals players like Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton, Banks, Peters etc, played exactly the same quality level. They had their chance & just didn't fulfill it.

2 legends - great players - talking about another legend who has sadly departed. Privilege to be listening to these guys....

All you kiddies watching check out Tonys goal for Leeds against Southampton still one of the greatest goals ever scored

It's almost as if there is a plan in place for us NEVER to win anything EVER again......
Brilliant!
My childhood heroes in the 70s.
Real ballers and characters. Love it.
Hope you like our latest podcast too @dongorgon4168
@@thealanhudsonpodcast9097 I will be checking out all your content! Great channel and a great way to wind down with a beer! Keep going!
These three players would be worth a fortune today in their prime.
Quality players all. The real deal
Weren’t they just! @williamharrison7797

Different kind of players back then. Big personalities off the pitch as much as on it. I can’t imagine players these days getting up to half as much
@@thealanhudsonpodcast9097 Indeed, and we are so much poorer off now (emotionally of course). I look forward to your next podcast!👏👏
@@johnwaga3702 I couldn’t agree more. Thanks for watching/listening. Next episode is up Monday with Talk Sports Andy Jacobs. See you there 😃
I heard he had an STI and that's why Shankly wouldn't sign him. Who knows?

Fabulous lads ! Loved it .... And, being a Leicester City supporter, loved Frank Worthington .... Untouchable 🦊

TC. Best player I ever saw. MOT Tony.

You'll be an old school hammer. 🙂Happy days.

Jimmy Greenoff what a player

Wonderful stuff, two great players in their time and as for Frank as a young Huddersfield fan watching him was a joy.Happy days
Best football podcast of my ere, well done lads,
Thank you @kennyhayes4378
Only 20 reviews, thats criminal, such a brilliant video reminiscing about the great football from the 70s and remembering the great Frank Worthington!

Happy memories of seeing Alan at the Bridge. The club treated him very badly. Like to hear something about Alan's goal that never was against Ipswich.

I think they have dealt with your point. they weren't trusted by coaches and managers who were too "conservative".

Brilliant players
TC. and Hudson greats. They could play. Worthington Joe Mercer selected him
i enjoyed that,thanks for sharing
What a tremendous video superb
Thank you very much @seanboland3560
Brilliant goal against Soton 78
They are mostly robots now. Most teams had at least three international class players who were real ball players
Add Stan Bowles.
Can anyone rermember the 5-0s mentioned by Tony?
Jarzino
Best player not to come to Liverpool,
Leeds mot
