So glad Natalie is getting recognized for how talented of a filmmaker she is. Her content is higher quality and more thoughtful than some feature films. Can't wait to see her make a full blown feature film as a film director in the future.
All my footage keeps getting lost ....sd cards, oltwo external TB drives when they weren't cheap, and now my androids .........boy oh boy what a waste of a life. This is a great accomplishment spaghetti.
i find the complete opposite. she knows the technical aspect of the trade but her stories are very shallow and lack depth and experience when broken down. It lacks layers.
Eyes of a cinematographer & colorist, ears of a sound designer, brain/thoughts of an editor & director, heart of an artist & the soul of an ancient wanderer...
What does it bring to be recognised? Fame? Ego? Pride? Nothing anyone will ever be happy for She should make her movies for movies sake To make them To connect to love Not for some dumb views For success and capitalism competition mindsets y’all have I love u Simon So let’s not get that twisted And I think Natalie sees it this way a lot too from what she said a lot of times🩷🥺🥺🥺
You both are so talented! We got to feel the beauty of the connection and adventure you two have had in this series. As I was watching your videos before you went back to school, I was like “why? You don’t need structure of college you need to create” then creator camp happened after you left school and THAT seemed divinely right. So proud of and inspired by you both.
the way she doesn't post every day, week, or month even, and still has 600k followers, proves that true soulful content creation speaks for itself. it doesn't need to follow social medias rules to 'stay relevant'
It is an interesting sentiment, isn't it? Do creators on RUclips follow trends to go viral and build a following or do you stick to your interests and keep producing smaller yet authentic content?
Not really. It’s not like people go through the accounts they follow and do an audit. Like oh, she hasn’t posted lately, unsubscribed. Nobody is actively doing that.
I'm blown away. I've seen Natalie's work before, but her storytelling abilities prevented me from analysing the filmmaking decisions (which is a good thing). Her care and intuitive creativity shine through in her work, and she couldn't be more down-to-earth when talking about her process. Jack, thanks for drawing attention to the visual storytelling, sound and editing. Felt so warm seeing her be encouraged enthusiastically.
The reason she’s so talented is because she understands it all! The story telling, the color theory, the shots, sound, EVERYTHING. But the fact that that it’s all being developed by one singular human creates such a authentic and coherent piece of art. Just incredible. In awe!
yo what!! AN ACTUAL INTERVIEW OF NATALIE?! words cannot express how happy i am to see this on here! she's been a huge inspiration of mine for a while now and to see her have some sort of platform like this where she can talk about the behind-the-scenes of her videos is amazing! it's a shock to me cause its something i've wanted for a while but never thought would actually happen haha! i've always loved her visuals, story telling, music, and sound design; it all just comes together so perfectly to create a whole video that feels like a warm hug!
Natalie is next-level stuff. I knew her videos take longer than the usual youtuber, but this breakdown is on another level. Each aspect is approached with so much thought, she's a sound designer, filmmaker, DOP, documentary artist, light tech, and colorist all in one. I have so much respect for the hours it takes to create one film. So privileged to watch her stuff for free
Goosebumps. Literally goosebumps from the storytelling and cinematography. Natalie does make Spotify playlists in case one wants to listen more deeply to the music she selects for her videos.
I pray to God she does not get enticed and consumed by the evil in Hollywood. She has an amazing future in film,….just hope she stays strong and independent.
She should definitely put these incredible skills to use in a feature film of some kind, at some point. With the right script, her understanding of visual storytelling and vibe she intuitively creates would be a perfect fit for a coming of age type of movie with a nostalgic feel. Amazing work, Natalie.
Credit to Jack as the interviewer. In each interview, his appreciation and inquisition is what brings out the insights form the interviewee. No wonder Natalie is smiling ear-ear having the nuance be spotlighted and noticed. Jack honors the guest.
As soon as I came across her content about a year ago I POURED through her catalogue and was so moved and impressed by it all. It's different than all the other content I watch. I love that there is so much appreciation for the detail, expertise and love that goes into her craft.
Wow, this is my introduction to Natalie. I’m going to watch every one of her videos. She’s amazing. Thanks for bringing her on Jack and for such a gracious interview!
Talented 'beyond their years' gets thrown around too often, but for her it holds true. So glad I randomly clicked a couple years back! The cinema and storytelling is so immersive and authentic
OMFG so happy and glad she's finally getting recognized!!! Like, AN ACTUAL INTERVIEW???? SHE DESERVES IT. Been a fan of her for soooo long and she's influenced a lot of personal and creative choices in my own life. She's such an inspirational and soulful person and her films are just *chef's kiss* I'm am soooo happy
I had not seen Natalie on RUclips for a long time. This was a treat seeing her on pod cast explaining her work. Literally watching someone as a child with a childhood dream stick with it and become the successful young adult is awesome!
Natalie nails the creative spirit when she talks about the the YT algorithm. Sometime creators focus so much on appeasing the YT algo, when if they just create from the heart and be authentic the possibilities would be endless.
the main reason natalie feels so refreshing and captivating to me is because i’m a documenter type of guy and my whole life i’ve been told to put my phone down and live in the moment. and i do, i make it a thing to learn when to step away from video taping to just live. but i like how she said there’s something special about watching memories back, because i love it. i often have a hard time remembering the emotions i felt in the moment, even when i can remember what happened. a video beings me that life i’m missing in my memory. i also love compiling videos for all sorts of reasons (like making trip montages, something i hope i can push to as good of production quality as natalie’s because i have such a passion for film and want to be a screenwriter/director one day)
You were surprised at 25:39 that that shot was only at 55mm. However, Natalie mentioned how she was using the Sony ɑ6600, which is an APS-C camera. So the equivalent focal length for full frame would be around 85mm, which is why it looks so zoomed in.
Wow, this was unreal. You asked so many of the questions I've always wondered about Natalie's work. She's so talented and creates such unique videos. Thank you for facilitating such a amazing conversation with great insight into her process and inspiration.
Hello Natalie, you have some major Cinematography skills, and I’m so impressed with your ability to take us through our youth, not as a male or female, but remind us of a time we wish only to forget and how you focus the story to mirror the main character to address the struggles at any age, yet force us to connect with of hopes, fears, and accomplishment.
ok...As someone honing my craft I just stumbled upon GOLD. Thank you for doing this channel and this was the most PERFECT intro to the channel. Natalie is amazing and interviewing her on the brake down and her process is exactly the nourishment i didn't even know i needed.
Soo freaking happy she got interviewed for this doc cuz it was a really special one to watch. It's soo emotionally immersive and made me cry from both sadness and joy. But this was like a cool behind the scenes commentary version and shows how much more went into the technicality of the shots, like its made me think of lighting differently and I cant believe the scrapbook part was actually stop motion! It's a treat to see a true artisan of her craft ♡ and she soo freaking humble to
Natalies cinematic, thematic, film, sound, and editing inuition is so insane considering a lot of the film aesthetics she uses are from before she was born!
Wow, she's huge. The sense for art direction, light, cinematography, editing, sound, everything. Amazing. Extremely sensitive. And he is the best interviewer ever, both of them are amazing artists. Love you both.
She's been the biggest inspiration on this platform. I discovered her 2 years ago and I couldn't believe her calibre. There are a few others I found that on this level but not many exist here. She's something else when it comes to talent and passion.
I bumped into Natalie’s channel after watching Max Reisinger or something. I’m 59, not a YTer, not a filmmaker but just appreciate creativity. I hope Natalie sees this - Natalie, your work is just beyond amazing. The moment I saw the first video I subscribed so I could feast on your works more later. Anything I say about your work would be redundant to what you’ve already heard in this interview but just - wow. I truly hope you remain in a position to have full control of your creativity. I hope you get to collaborate with those you feel you could learn more from and I hope you get to make this a lifelong career. You are simply spectacular.
Jack, the way I know you are an outstanding interviewer is that you make me a big fan of everyone you talk to. I was already a fan of hers, but each one of these episodes I watch, I feel like you ask everything I would personally ask, and you are so thorough and attuned to the best in people that you can't do anything but bring it out. You are doing something you're meant to be doing with this series, and I'm so grateful to you for it.
As someone studying engineering, but with a passion/interest in are and design, I’m FASCINATED by all of the intricacies of film. Talking about the details of the set up for shots, the lighting, the color, the sound make me appreciate it more than I ever could have just watching her video.
she cares so much about creating quality content that she doesnt care if she monetizes all her hard work, months of hard work, such a breath of fresh air to see someone this is in love with visual story telling
This channel is a gold mine for filmmaking tips. And Natalie is soooo cool it's unbelievable. She's genuinely one of my favorite filmmakers and biggest inspirations.
I've been following Natalie Lynn for years. It's wonderful to see her finally getting recognition for her incredible work and to hear her talking about her process
I found her youtube not long after she posted her first borderless episode. Her music choice and cinematography is astonishingly good, I don't think ive seen anyone else put as much effort in their camera shots and storytelling as much as she did. Her last episode of borderless recently dropped and it gave me strong vibes of Wes Anderson, she really deserves to make it far in film making.
This young lady's talent, creativity, and authenticity are mindblowing as much as refreshing. The way she conveys her feelings, impressions and thoughts is beyond this world. Thanks for featuring her in the show, she deserves so so so much recognition.
It's really something special when someone takes the time to translate the intuition of another human and artist into words we can listen to and think about 🙏
This was an amazing interview. I love that RUclips is in a place now where filmmakers like her are getting the love they deserve. Creators for the soul not for the algorithm.
I don't remember when I first came across Natalie's channel, but I still remember the exact video I watched and reactions I had while watching it. She left a lasting impression on me with her cinematography!
Natalies movies are so aesthetic and inspiring… not only do I enjoy her videos but it also teaches me alot about filmaking, I just Love watching your videos Natalie. They always make me feel deep Emotions , Thank you for creating ❤

Have not seen Natalies videos before and after watching some of them, I must say I'm extremely impressed by the creativity and the cinematic feel she´s been able to capture/create in them. Thanks for the introduction Jack.
My favorite series on YT right now. I learned so much from these. Thank you for sharing. To anyone else reading this: I encourage you to watch each video that is being discussed in full first to get the most out of these.
Absolutely extraordinary! An interviewer who is empathetic and listens, and gets excited; and an interviewee who is natural, authentic and totally relatable. Beautiful people, both of you.
Glad to see someone acknowledge Natalie’s talents. I’ve been watching her vids off and on for a few years now and I will certainly agree that she’s very good at what she does.
I recently came across Natalie's video in my feed. It took 4 seconds for me to subscribe, and I was immediately wonderstruck by her storytelling and visuals. I appreciate how raw she is, whether it be with the chat about music/copyright stuff, or the fact that she often shoots first and figures out the story being told based on the shots. The discussion about gaps in footage, and re-creating b-roll is refreshing. She really has a knack to make every part-time or hobbyist filmmaker feel normal by sharing these things. Thanks for getting this video, Jack... well done!
I used to do what she did when she was young and my younger self would be very disappointed in me. But I love that she kept it going and has insanely beautiful videos now, so inspiring.
She is amazing! You can tell she an intuition on how to put across a certain feeling and atmosphere. She inspired me to start making my own small movies.
OH MY GOSH, NATALIE! im so happy to see that as a young creator how just starting this journey it is really imortant for me to see that! I wacthed so many Natalies films and it is always inspires me. Now to hear how she acually works on these films it is so helpfull and good. I wish Natalie will do more interview or just talks about her work
Yes yes! Thank you for this! I've been drawn in by Natalie's work and I'm so glad to know I'm not alone in that and to see a little bit of how she shapes these poetic films.
Natalie's were some of the first movies (her work rises above the label 'video') I saw on RUclips, and are the reason I've stuck around to explore the content on the platform. I've never come across a channel quite like hers though, and I'm so glad you featured her on your channel. Thank you for recognizing how amazing she is and for having her on to share her process.
I discovered Natalie about a year ago and I wasn't able to say why I enjoyed her videos so much but now that you've describe the whole process I understand much better. These are not videos theses are films. Thank you Natalie for the hard work and the beauty of Borderless !
I saw a clip of this interview on Instagram and this is what brought me to Natalie Lynn’s RUclips channel. For 3 days now, I have been watching/rewatching her videos. I love love love her style, her cinematography, her storytelling. Everything.
So glad I stumbled upon this. What an interesting conversation. Well done and so interested to learn more about Natalie. Pure talent and obvious passion for filmmaking. Also just enjoyed Jack's obvious interest in what she has to say.
Natalie’s work is inspiring and soul-touching I can't believe that this exists on RUclips This honestly should be its own Netflix show Thank you Natalie for inspiring a new generation of filmmakers 😊❤
This girl is a visionair! The clips are visually gorgeous and the sound is great! It's very recognizable what she says about intuition. When people ask us about the editing process, we usually can't explain what we did. Didn't know her but am glad I do now. She sounds Dutch.
Been subscribed for her years & I'm glad she's getting the recognition she deserves. Seeing the effort she puts into the filmmaking made me love her content even more
it is so so beautiful that she makes sense of her life by stringing together all these clips and ideas and moments and making them into cinematic masterpieces. making sense of life through art fascinates me so much. natalie never fails to inspire and remind me to find the lessons and meaning in the mundane and difficult situations of my own life. her work is all so special to me. watching this interview and getting a look on her process was literally the coolest thing. ❤
Jack, I cannot get enough of this channel. Being introduced to so many creatives and them sharing insightful takes on their process is really inspiring. Amazing stuff.
ive watched this 3 times, i just love everything about what Natalie creates!! And seeing her break it down is so interesting it almost makes me feel like I'm not alone with my chaotic creative thought process..i hope she never stops creating
So happy I discovered this clever young woman. She has an incredible future in cinematography or whatever medium she chooses. Her future is incredibly bright and we reap all the benefits of her works.
So glad Natalie is getting recognized for how talented of a filmmaker she is. Her content is higher quality and more thoughtful than some feature films. Can't wait to see her make a full blown feature film as a film director in the future.
Omgggg yesss❤❤❤❤❤
Totally agree. I’m a fan of her, since I saw just a few seconds of one of her videos.
You got that right! Her content that I have watched is a lot better than movies with a massive budget with millions, it is somewhat ironic.
Thats trueeeee !!!@@thelifewithnate
She deserves to get recognized by millions. Such a good story teller. A REAL FILM MAKER!
Agreed! Her style of filmmaking is so authentic, she easily should have a much bigger audience.
It lacks layers.

nice!
Flawless Description❤
Fuck this is me but I don’t know with my life though
so sick to see her finally starting to get the recognition she deserves. All love!
Same goes with you Simon :D
Wonderful to see for sure!
What does it bring to be recognised? Fame?
Ego?
Pride?
Nothing anyone will ever be happy for
She should make her movies for movies sake
To make them
To connect to love
Not for some dumb views
For success and capitalism competition mindsets y’all have
I love u Simon
So let’s not get that twisted
And I think Natalie sees it this way a lot too from what she said a lot of times🩷🥺🥺🥺

"it is so patient" is such a good way to describe natalie's art
she inspired me to make this video ruclips.net/video/PnVyxJncgUQ/видео.htmlsi=kgHBwJz2CkyAphJx
Natalie is a legend
LEGEND
Who?
the way she doesn't post every day, week, or month even, and still has 600k followers, proves that true soulful content creation speaks for itself. it doesn't need to follow social medias rules to 'stay relevant'
yo i didn’t even think about this like that! very insightful comment

Up to nearly 800K now. INSANE.
@@troyflatland5299 that IS a thing, though. Retention has been proven to drop if you don't post...IF that's your MO to begin with.

This is truly a dream come true❤️🔥
Her face is like “I’m glad u asked me this question” ❤
Natalie is next-level stuff. I knew her videos take longer than the usual youtuber, but this breakdown is on another level. Each aspect is approached with so much thought, she's a sound designer, filmmaker, DOP, documentary artist, light tech, and colorist all in one. I have so much respect for the hours it takes to create one film. So privileged to watch her stuff for free
BLOWN AWAY BY HER WORK. It makes me feel like I have so far to go as a storyteller, but in a motivating way. Thank you for introducing us to her work.
She doesn’t create content. She creates art.
Goosebumps. Literally goosebumps from the storytelling and cinematography. Natalie does make Spotify playlists in case one wants to listen more deeply to the music she selects for her videos.
this is tumblr life, take me back to 2013 to 2015.nataly is a legend. glad i watched all her movies.
I pray to God she does not get enticed and consumed by the evil in Hollywood. She has an amazing future in film,….just hope she stays strong and independent.

natalie is enjoying this interview because someone understand him and very happy with her works.
Exactly what i thought. I'm happy for her🌟
she is truly one of the greatest filmmakers out there. I hope she gets the recognition that she deserves.
Credit to Jack as the interviewer. In each interview, his appreciation and inquisition is what brings out the insights form the interviewee. No wonder Natalie is smiling ear-ear having the nuance be spotlighted and noticed. Jack honors the guest.

Love this series, Jack. Natalie was clearly born a creator. So much soul at so young an age. Loved the super nerdy breakdown. Pure gold.
the fact one has the opportunity to layer sound design like an orchestral arrangement of separate tracks to tell or support a story is so amazing
You were surprised at 25:39 that that shot was only at 55mm. However, Natalie mentioned how she was using the Sony ɑ6600, which is an APS-C camera. So the equivalent focal length for full frame would be around 85mm, which is why it looks so zoomed in.

I love Natalie’s videos so much. My only issue is that they always send me into an existential crisis.

It's nice to see someone so intentional, doing vlogs.
Yeah, they're great travel vlogs, not films.

So glad to learn about this gifted artist.
I came across her work recently and was blown away by how well done her films are! It's so refreshing to have on youtube.
She is amazing! You can tell she an intuition on how to put across a certain feeling and atmosphere. She inspired me to start making my own small movies.
as someone who watched her video and then tried to break it down, i really appreciate this cuz u broke it down so much better than I could 😂
OH MY GOSH, NATALIE! im so happy to see that as a young creator how just starting this journey it is really imortant for me to see that! I wacthed so many Natalies films and it is always inspires me. Now to hear how she acually works on these films it is so helpfull and good. I wish Natalie will do more interview or just talks about her work
Fantastic girl. One of the example of being a great filmaker without going to film school. I'. amazed how much love she puts in that videos.
I’ve never heard of Natalie’s work before but damn her work deserves to be in a museum, or the national archives, somewhere.
Yes yes! Thank you for this! I've been drawn in by Natalie's work and I'm so glad to know I'm not alone in that and to see a little bit of how she shapes these poetic films.
Natalie is incredible. She's been my inspiration since i was 15. I'm 20 now.
Thank you Natalie for the hard work and the beauty of Borderless !
this is incredible, i'm glad she could hear some compliments to her artistry!
I saw a clip of this interview on Instagram and this is what brought me to Natalie Lynn’s RUclips channel. For 3 days now, I have been watching/rewatching her videos. I love love love her style, her cinematography, her storytelling. Everything.
i’ve watched natalie for years now and i’m so happy to see her glowing here. genuine thanks to jack too for breaking down her artistry so finely
I've commented it under her videos multiple times and I'll say it here again:
NATALIE CURRENTLY IS THE MOST TALENTED FILMMAKER ON RUclips!
Ive been watching her videos for years now and it always blew my mind how talented she is! im so glad shes getting the recognition she deserves!
So glad I stumbled upon this. What an interesting conversation. Well done and so interested to learn more about Natalie. Pure talent and obvious passion for filmmaking. Also just enjoyed Jack's obvious interest in what she has to say.
Natalie’s work is inspiring and soul-touching I can't believe that this exists on RUclips
This honestly should be its own Netflix show
Thank you Natalie for inspiring a new generation of filmmakers 😊❤
This girl is a visionair! The clips are visually gorgeous and the sound is great! It's very recognizable what she says about intuition. When people ask us about the editing process, we usually can't explain what we did. Didn't know her but am glad I do now. She sounds Dutch.
Algorithm did me good. This is such a beautiful dissection of her work.
When I discovered her a year ago I almost couldn't believe how good her work was! ❤
I think this showed how a re-enactment is still truth, at least as much as truth can be when capturing something with a camera.
Nothing really like her out there and I really hope she gets to make more and more content where so many get to appreciate her special gift.
ive watched this 3 times, i just love everything about what Natalie creates!!
And seeing her break it down is so interesting it almost makes me feel like I'm not alone with my chaotic creative thought process..i hope she never stops creating
This is a snapshot of everyone’s early twenty’s. I love it. She’s incredible.
So happy I discovered this clever young woman. She has an incredible future in cinematography or whatever medium she chooses. Her future is incredibly bright and we reap all the benefits of her works.
