I have fond memories of 10 years of dance lessons and recitals with my daughter. Guess I was living vicariously through her. I took tap lessons when very young until the teacher quit. Guess only 3 students paying 25 cents a lesson wasn't worth her time. My daughter did get to be extremely good and we even got her private lessons. All our VCR tapes don't do us much good. She stopped dancing at 16. Sure wish I had all that money back. At least I still have the memories.
This takes me back. My dance teacher would have screamed at any of us caught looking at anyone on stage to see what was next 🤣🤣🤣 I mean it's true if you look you have already missed the count but damn we were so young.

I must say this is a group of young tappers that are doing a really good job. Considering their age, they did great. Now if only we can teach the stage people to not make such a big deal and from running back and forth. Thr one with thr shorter pants looks mad. Lol Not good when dealing with young children. Now that it's been 10 years, I wonder how many are still doing tap? It's a lost art for adult dancers. I love watching them.
I agree. This looks like a five-year-old beginner tap class doing their end-of-year recital (or a dress rehearsal for it). At that age, all of the dancers understand what's happening, they want to be there, and they're able to learn and remember a short, relatively simple, choreographed dance routine without their teacher on stage doing it along with them. So, five seems to be a good age to start extra-curricular activities, like dance. I've seen preschool and toddler classes with dancers crying, running away, throwing tantrums, getting in fights on stage, standing still or playing with their costumes throughout the performance instead of dancing, et cetera. I know the parents who put their kids in those classes (and the studios that offer them) mean well, but at that age, it's too soon for most kids.
no discipline from the beginning thru the end. The nuns used to make us march in perfect formation from age 5 on. Seen the same in HS bands, everyone doing their own thing.
This is also their FIRST year of dance. They are exactly at the level they should be. It's not competitive level dance. It's recreational dance that is probably once a week for 45 minutes to an hour, divided between tap, jazz, AND ballet.
Tinas Crafts she wasn't showing off she was just a better dancer than some of the other girls. Can't blame her for doing her best. She doesn't need to go to the other girls level if they aren't good some people are natural performers
The five year olds are pretty good at following directions. Three year olds on the other hand are like herding cats. They will try to jump off the stage
This was so cute ... they're not professional dancers they're just little girls doing a first recital Teachers did fine they are 5 maybe some a little older but still a first recital Never even noticed that some had bows on shoes and others did not just loving all that cuteness.
