Neither Schultz nor Buchanan should be considered giants. They've lost 35 and 21 matches respectively in their college careers. A 197lber. like Bo Nickal is a giant. He lost five matches in his college career.
That's what happens when you don't come to wrestle, and looking at your rankings. That number 32 came with his A game and number 3 looking at this rankings
@@TheTerryE that's not childish: it's sympathetic. "Did he lose his mommy" would be something immature to say though. You really don't know what people could be going through whether that be personal responsibility or something health related. Or maybe he just didn't want to wrestle 🤷🏾♂️. We don't know.
Every wrestler could learn from watching Pentz in this match. He held perfect position, took advantage of every controll and slowed the match waiting for the other guy to make a mistake. When not controlling he was ready to sprawl with heavy hips and cut the corner. Finally when he took an open low single he didn't hesitate. He elevated, protected his ankles and transitioned to avoid the scramble. Perfect textbook wrestling.
I'm going to say no. He had an easy path last year after the Schultz pin. You have to be consistent and Pentz although good isn't consistent enough. He should have already been ranked in the top 16 when he made his run last year. Dropped down to 32 because of inconsistency. Has the potential but will not catch anyone at Nationals sleeping. Buchanan looked like he rolled out of bed for this dual meet.
Yup, the biggest upset. He dominated that match and capped it off with the stick. Seeing just the result I was wondering if Buchanan was winning or it was close and Pentz just caught him but nope. Pentz man-handled Buchanan. Buchanan was sucking wind hard after that first period.
Great win for Pentz...well done! Who was that he was wrestling? Not the real Buchanan. Not a ranked wrestler in that performance. But he'll be back. Go Pentz!
Got to give Pentz credit. He pinned Eric Schults of Nebraska in last year's NCAA. Pentz is a giant killer.
We had a duel meet against Schults school which is Tinley Park he was pretty damn good.

@@yourdaddy6030 to be fair Schultz did give Nickal his closest match of his senior season
Pentz controlled the match since the beginning, impressive win and amazing upset! Gotta love it
You can tell when he won it wasn’t a surprise, he was doing all the movement since the 1st period. Great to see the underdog get the win. ☝🏿
Hope he's healthy both mentally and physically. Sometimes D1 can be a lot on young athletes

Not taking anything away from Pentz. Buchanan did look like a wrestler coming off some time off due to illness or injury.
Buchanan looked very sluggish and seemed to be unusually winded. It makes me wonder if he recently had COVID. Still, it was a great win for Pentz.
Yes that is what I thought
Pretty much made Buchanan look like an unseeded wrestler. Good win
He looked sluggish and lacked energy
Maybe he had Covid.
He has COVID 2 days before and couldn’t practice

Buchanan looks bigger and stronger. Would have never guessed his legs could have been controlled that easily for that pin.
Size doesn’t mean anything in wrestling. It’s mental strength & grown man strength.

Was Buchanan sick or something? Dude looked exhausted just running onto the mat and just seemed gassed from the start.
Nice win for Pentz. Top 10 ranking is possible by season's end.
With Ferrari out for the season 197 should be a gas at the NCAA tournament. Anybody could win. Can't wait

Wow Pentz came to win, Buchanan looked gassed for some reason, but Pentz looked good. God bless
Pentz should be ranked way higher than 32.
Congrats. Beat him in every way. Especially nice job of peeling WY hand off neck and keeping it for wrist/arm control.
How is this dude only ranked 32nd? I think Spencer Lee is ranked higher in this weight class than 32nd.
