My band Wyld Ryde opened up for the current incarnation of Kingdom Come a few years ago here in Louisville,Ky where a few members are from.It was pretty cool! We partied with them and despite claiming “Sobriety” James Kotakk was shit faced.Very cool dudes and where fun to talk to.
I had a wonderful time writing the lyrics for "Hands Of Time." You mentioned my favorite songs, too, which are "Shot Down," "Blood On The Land" and "Should I." Check out my story about Lenny and I on the liner notes of the KC compliation CD "Kingdom Come: Classic Album Collection." You see, I wrote those sexy lyrics for "Both Of Us"...and the women loved them. Lenny thanked me. ;)
Good to see the mighty Kingdom Come getting some well deserved attention. I'm not sure how my ranking would work out, as I haven't played some of their albums in years. However, I can tell you that 'In Your Face' would take my no.1 spot as it's one of my favourite albums of all time! Brilliant stuff! Keep up the good work 👍
As u said, massively underrated band. My Ranking: 1- Hands of Time 2- In Your Face 3- s/t 4- Bad Image 5- Master Seven 6- Twilight Cruiser 7- Too 8- Rendered Waters Worst Album : Perpetual Most underrated song: 'Can't Fake Affection'
Lets go! Im just happy to see this ranking.Great job Bryce.Im glad to hear someone say! Lenny is the man! Thank you.Long time KC fan.Im going to go with Master Seven as #1.The background sounds like you said,Heavy, slow.Very powerful album in my opinion.Going with Self titled as #2.Im a Hideaway and Pushin Hard guy.At #3 I would say Hands Of Time.Should I hooked me instantly.Next would be Magnified."Sweetkilling is money.I would say that track is Kingdom Come.Next would be In Your Face...The Wind! Mean Dirty Joe! Yes! Bad Image is my next.Glove of Stone my favorite.Perpetual is next.Watch TheDragonfly is amazing. This album just has a vibe I like.Outlier Next.It was different but I loved it.The Trap Is Alive..Thumbs up! Twilight Cruiser is next.Great album.Loved Cant Put Out and Not Take Back awesome!Rendered Waters next.Cant Deny..BOOM!..Independent is my next.Do you Dare is amazing and Forever.Too album is my last but trust me! Ive worn it out! All good Lenny!! Love this band! One of my favorites of all time!
One of their most noteworthy songs is 'Only Rainbow Knows'(1997). In this song, Lenny Wolf criticises multi-culturalism and predicts it will end in chaos. One of the most prophetic songs of the 90s along with Leonard Cohen's 'The Future'
Man, I wore out the tape deck in my Acura Legend on Kingdom Come "self titled", Metallica's Kill Em' All, and E. 1999 Eternal by BTH(yes, I had a CD player in it), The first song that hooked me I think was "What love can do"...I actually FOUND the tape on the side of the road while out for a ride, scratched up, but still worked, and I LOVED it! What's messed up, is that's how I found the first thing that got me into music as a kid, I found a Nazareth "Hair of the Dog" 8-TRACK! lol, we were listening to tapes at the time, and CD's were just coming out, so it must have been an old copy, I mowed some lawns, and bought a used 8-track at a garage sale, and played the hell of that thing(parentals did not approve, which meant it was good, really good!). Random life, is the best life :D - that album is definitely a display of the best, I did not mind at all that they sounded like Led Zep, fuckin' love the Zep! It was like Zeppelin v2.0 in my mind. I was playing only metal, and classic until I found that album, the guitar playing on that tape, is what pushed me into a far more serious blues influenced style. Good review, man!
Fantastic band, legendary Lenny! It was very very difficult😅 My unexpected top: 1. Hands of Time 2. Bad Image 3. Twilight Cruiser 4. Outlier 5. Master Seven 6. Perpetual 7. Independent 8. In Your Face 9. Kingdom Come 10. Ain't Crying for the Moon 11. Magnified 12. Rendered Waters 13. Too
Big Kingdom Come fan. Glad you give them respect. Got all their albums. I even learned a good bit of German in order to understand Lenny’s solo work. Big, big fan.
Thanks for going more in depth on a massively underrated band. I was a senior when their debut album was released and they took a lot of crap when they were accused of being "Led Zeppelin knock offs," which is complete nonsense. I also agree with you that Hands of Time is excellent. Giving it one star is beyond ridiculous. 1. In Your Face 2. Kingdom Come (1988) 3. Hands of Time 4. Bad Image 5. Twilight Cruiser
There is a double CD that came out years ago and one CD is a live show and the other one is an acoustic set. I recommend you find this and give it a listen because it is fantastic especially the acoustic songs. Lenny's voice just drips right out of your speakers. Fantastic band 😎
Saw them play after Metallica on the Monster of Rock tour in 88 or 89. Been a minute…lost touch with them since. Thanks your video of enlighten me with their past.
Howdy Bryce, good for you covering Kingdom Come. To me, they aren't discussed enough. You can imagine the cringe when I heard GVF & how I kept hearing they were the first band that sounded the most like Led Zep! Welcome to Kingdom Come! I'm searching my brain cells to remember if I saw them live. For some reason, I keep thinking of King Kobra who I saw live with Autograph. Was many moons ago, on a Mother's Day in the afternoon at the Agora (Newport) in Columbus, Ohio. That show always sticks with me because of the odd date & time, all that blonde hair, Carmine & Johnny Rod.
Good list. The way you talked about Independent, I would think you'd rank it higher. I would put it second, I love that album. Hands of Time is so underrated, it has such a cool vibe. Saw them on their first tour at Monsters of Rock, they were great.
I agree with you´re ranking , great band love the debut album I have in vinil I bought it when it came out in 1988 , what a year Iron Maiden 7th son ,Operation: Mindcrime and so many more.
Btw, I think only on their debut album Lenny Wolf sounds like Robert Plant, he went on to develop his own style: whereas Robert Plant has a more street urchin kinda style, Lenny Wolf's voice is more emotionally intense.
I only know the song ‘Get It On’ and on that he sounds just like Plant. But listening to his voice in the different song extracts that Bryce posted in this video, he sounds a bit different and more unique.
Saw them in concert at a 500 person club in 1988 or so. Super show. Warrant opened for them. Those first 3 K.C releases were righteous ! Jimmy Page bashed the band hard, saying they were total rip off artists.
Awesome wish I could’ve seen that… and yeah I heard, clown comments from Page… funny that Lenny said he’d never heard of Zeppelin in response to that lol
Interesting piece of trivia from the recent Kingdom Come boxset liner notes is that Rick Steier joined the band after the first album was recorded. He's pictured on the album, but actually doesn't play a single note on it. 😎
In Your Face is the only KC album I own. Good stuff! I've felt for a loooong time that I probably should listen to more of their albums but it just hasn't happened... yet. Didn't know they had released so many though. My guess would have been five or six albums in total... 😄
Most of the albums are available in some form here on YT, so get listening!😊 Try starting with the kingdomcometv channel. I notice many seem to be aware of only one or a few albums.
Thanks Bryce for introducing me to so many great bands! Could you do a Tesla album ranking/favourite songs in the future? I think you like them too right?
Did a Kingdom Come ranking a few months back… For me In Your Face and Self Titled are 1-2… I don’t have my notes on me but I’ll be interested to see how close our lists are. I’ll post another comment when I get home.
Yeah, a great, great band and an excellent singer. And both very underrated!!! My top 5 : 1= Independent, 2= In Your Face, 3= Hands Of Time, 4= Twilight Cruiser, 5= Perpetual.
I remember when we got the debut album, I played it over and over. Still love this album to this day. It wasn’t until later I realized he sorta sounds like Robert Plant
First thing I’ll say is that KC are the most underrated band on the planet! Well, the most underrated hard rock band anyway. All the albums are good. I don’t have a single favourite but my top three are Bad Image, Master Seven and Independent.
Perfect timing, just listened to In Your Face today. Such a killer album. Even though I love Led Zeppelin, Kingdom Come plays their style better in my opinion
I would describe Kingdom Come as an 80s representation of Led Zeppelin, just like how Greta Van Fleet is a modern representation of zeppelin. But Kingdom Come's sound is still unique as its own and I hate idiots like Jimmy Page who claim they are plagiarizing
@@brycetalksmetal I just finished watching your video. I’ll definitely give Bad Image a listen because that song you featured from it sounds really good.
agreed Kingdom Come's debut album was the best album of the 1980s, when i got it after it was released i was in awe of it and btw i hate Led Zepplin as i think they are pretty poor and boring ie stairway to heaven , wrist slashing material

Wow, I had to check out the lyrics, yes, this is true, Cohen was of the tribe who has brought it all upon the white race, screw him

Excellent, it rules 💯
Btw, I think only on their debut album Lenny Wolf sounds like Robert Plant, he went on to develop his own style: whereas Robert Plant has a more street urchin kinda style, Lenny Wolf's voice is more emotionally intense.
There’s no mistaking his voice. It’s quite distinctive.
I only know the song ‘Get It On’ and on that he sounds just like Plant. But listening to his voice in the different song extracts that Bryce posted in this video, he sounds a bit different and more unique.
I agree. And then if you go through all the albums it’s easy to see that Lenny carved out a distinctive style.

Warrant opened for them. Those first 3 K.C releases were righteous !
Jimmy Page bashed the band hard, saying they were total rip off artists.
Oh yeah. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant both blasted them. Also, Gary Moore blasted them on the song “Led Clones.”
Awesome wish I could’ve seen that… and yeah I heard, clown comments from Page… funny that Lenny said he’d never heard of Zeppelin in response to that lol
“Get It On” definitely is, can’t speak beyond that.
Interesting piece of trivia from the recent Kingdom Come boxset liner notes is that Rick Steier joined the band after the first album was recorded. He's pictured on the album, but actually doesn't play a single note on it. 😎

No problem and yes I like Tesla, I might at some point👍🏻
Their first album is a classic! I saw their performance in '88 at the Arizona State Fair on Halloween Night.
I've got the first 2 albums, both 10 outta 10! But after that, they past me by! Definitely going to check the rest out, cheers!
They’re all good imo. And my personal three favourites do not include the first two!
Hands of time is just underrated as hell ~Krash

Saw KC in 2007, before Dokken on Defenders of Rock european tour. Lenny's live voice is great!
Nice to see Death's Symbolic Album on your Wall!!
One of the best Albums ever!!!
Get it On! Fave Kingdom Come song 🎵 Lenny Wolf)
Perfect timing, just listened to In Your Face today. Such a killer album. Even though I love Led Zeppelin, Kingdom Come plays their style better in my opinion
It would do this band more of a favour if people stopped comparing them to Led Zeppelin.
I would describe Kingdom Come as an 80s representation of Led Zeppelin, just like how Greta Van Fleet is a modern representation of zeppelin. But Kingdom Come's sound is still unique as its own and I hate idiots like Jimmy Page who claim they are plagiarizing
I agree with the debut for number one
Kingdom come f*cks. So f’ing good
He stood out as a front man in Stone Fury and only grew into a great musician with a great band
I’m sure someone mentioned this or you already knew but Lenny sang on the first Ayreon album.
excellent band , so underrated
U know Agent Steel's...Skeptics Apocalypse..1985...speed metal music/power metal vocals) great album. 👍
Mix of Iron Maiden/Queenrhyche developed into its own unique sound.
Unstoppable Force 1987, their great record as well.
LOL I still have their first two CDs. Didn’t know they went beyond that hahaha.
There’s a lot of great material after the first 2 so I definitely recommend to go through their stuff
@@brycetalksmetal I just finished watching your video. I’ll definitely give Bad Image a listen because that song you featured from it sounds really good.

Hell yes
Absolutely!!!!! Damn that would be a hard discography to rank, so much amazing stuff.

I never heard of this band before.
Really?
Can you do best to worst next time
No
Why?
Because common sense.
Ronnie james Dio is the Goat period Bruce Dickinson Rob Halford are better I do like kingdom come but Lenny not even close
Led Zeppelin and Greta van Fleet were heavily influenced by KINGDOM COME!!!
Dan McCafferty best hard rock vocalist also is the king of rock. Lenny wolf is just an average vocalist nothing unique
