After 1 month of interpreting, I'm finally starting to see great progress! Thank you so much for these videos, they have definitely helped me a lot. Completing the 40 hours of medical interpretation training school has also helped me a lot. I still have trouble remembering long utterances, but it's slowly getting better. My advise, keep going, don't lose motivation, and practice A LOT.

Just like the old joke: A man in New York is trying to get to Carnegie Hall and he sees a musician performing on the street and thinks to himself, “He is a musician, he should know how to get to Carnegie Hall. I will ask him”. He then proceeds to call the musician and asks him, “How does one get to Carnegie Hall?” To which the musician responds, “Practice, practice, practice.” Keep at it, I am sure you are one of the greats!
Hay cosas que no vale la pena anotar, se pueden transmitir sin el menor cambio. Pero, personalmente, me cuesta recordar oraciones muy largas y si el orador habla rápido, me cuesta trabajo seguirle la corriente, mientras lo escucho y voy anotando. Hola, solo con la practica puede mejorar. Al principio siempre va a haber un alto grado de dificultad pero entre mas se realiza mas facil sera. Por lo general se debe tomar un curso de 40 horas de interpretacion para permitirle trabajar en esta profesión. Denada!

I did not pass my assessment after 4 days of trainning (26 hrs worth). Never done this before. How long would you say one takes to improve at this skill? (on average).
I have really been thinking about your question and I believe I had about 32 hours of interpreting practice before taking the company assessment and I felt like I needed more practice even though I passed. That was the whole reason for starting this channel to get everyone more practice. I am by no means an authority in the field, but in my experience I would say about 40 hours of interpreting practice experience should be enough. We should have more practice videos up soon.
It's okay! Consecutive interpreting is quite a challenging skill to learn, so don't be discouraged for the result of your assessment. In my opinion, 4 days of training is barely 1/4th of the recommended time to become an interpreter. Keep practicing the material you were handed by the company you were training with, practice your note-taking skills (fundamental) and keep going over these kind of scenarios where you can put into practice what you've learned both from the terminology and note-taking. Just take it easy, be patient with yourself and I'm sure you will make it and get the position you are looking for. God bless

When it says "fill out consent", how would you translate that? Does "llenar consentimientos" make sense? Or are there better words in spanish to translate that to? Like acuerdo, contrato, or formulario? My job wants the translation to be exact but sometimes exact translations don't make sense.

Formulario de consentimiento is fine. I usually just say consentimiento. Tenemos que llenar el consentimiento.
