I'd love to get a lil behind the scenes video someday about what decisions went into designing the soundtrack for this sequel. What themes/motifs were chosen to stay, how they've evolved, the playing with time signatures, choices behind a lot of the instruments and sounds. Composition is so neat to me and especially with Hades II being Supergiant's first sequel I'd love to know more about the process for this game's OST
@@ByrneBaby With Chronos it can be figured out that, being grandpa, the theme needed to feel familiar even if it wasn't the same. Then there's the reason of the fight, in the first it was hype and with the intent to make him feel like a badass (and you by extension for beating him), which reflects that despite the poor state of father & son relationship, something good is bound to happen as long as you don't give up. Then you have Chronos, where the motive is outright revenge with no intention whatsoever of reconciliation. Even at the end when you win, there's a lingering sadness in it, suggesting that even in the best case scenario of Melinoe rescuing her whole family, there will always remain the bitterness of what her own grandfather did. As for the rest that aren't just sad variations of original motifs, it's the fact that this is all witch themed, which means potions, which means experiments. Hence the wide variety of instruments and not just metal this time.

Same dude! I bought the game already and dipped my toe in, but am going to wait till 1.0 to really get stuck in. It’s so damn hard, but I always prefer to play a fully finished game from start to finish, rather than waiting for intermittent content drops.

I am screaming, shaking and crying how good that is. I don't even know what Darren had to sell to the devil to get that good. The literal best composer of our generation, no exaggeration.

I'm going to sound insane but I swear they reused the Through Asphodel motif in The Risen Fleet. not as the main motif, but I think it's there

Hades music has been the closest to Warrior Within, I knew it as soon as I heard it.
