Is Mary the Mother of God?
No, the Bible does not teach that Mary is the mother of God, nor does it suggest that Christians should either worship or venerate Mary. a Consider:
    • Mary never claimed that she was the mother of God. The Bible explains that she gave birth to “the Son of God,” not God himself.-Mark 1:1; Luke 1:32.
    • Jesus Christ never said that Mary was God’s mother or that she was worthy of special devotion. In fact, he corrected a woman who gave special attention to Mary’s happy role as his mother, saying: “No, rather, happy are those hearing the word of God and keeping it!”-Luke 11:27, 28.
    • The terms “Mother of God” and “Theotokos” (God-bearer) are not found in the Bible.
    • The expression “Queen of Heaven” in the Bible refers, not to Mary, but to a false goddess worshipped by apostate Israelites. (Jeremiah 44:15-19) The “Queen of Heaven” may have been Ishtar (Astarte), a Babylonian goddess.
    • Early Christians did not worship Mary, nor did they give her any special honor. One historian states that early Christians “would have rejected cults and probably feared that undue attention to Mary might evoke a suspicion of goddess worship.”-In Quest of the Jewish Mary.
    • The Bible says that God has always existed. (Psalm 90:1, 2; Isaiah 40:28) Since he had no beginning, he cannot have a mother. Furthermore, Mary could not have held God in her womb; the Bible makes clear that even the heavens cannot contain him.-1 Kings 8:27.
Mary-Mother of Jesus not “Mother of God”
Mary was Jewish by birth, and she was a direct descendant of King David. (Luke 3:23-31) She was highly favored by God for her faith and devotion. (Luke 1:28) God chose her to become the mother of Jesus. (Luke 1:31, 35) Along with her husband, Joseph, Mary had other children.-Mark 6:3.
Although the Bible shows that Mary became a disciple of Jesus, not much additional information is given about her.-Acts 1:14.
Why do some consider Mary the mother of God?
The earliest evidence of devotion to Mary dates from the late fourth century C.E. At that time, the Catholic Church became the State religion of the Roman Empire. As a result, many who had a pagan background became nominal Christians. The church had also adopted the unscriptural teaching of the Trinity.
The doctrine of the Trinity led many in the church to conclude that if Jesus were God, then Mary must be the mother of God. In 431 C.E., a church council in Ephesus officially proclaimed Mary the “Mother of God.” Mariolatry-the excessive veneration of Mary-flourished after this Council of Ephesus. And as those from a pagan background joined the church, images and icons of the Virgin Mary gradually took the place of their fertility goddesses, such as Artemis (Diana, to the Romans) and Isis.
In 432 C.E., Pope Sixtus III ordered a church to be built in Rome in honor of the “Mother of God.” It was built near the site of an earlier temple erected in honor of Lucina, the Roman goddess of childbirth. One author described this church as “an enduring symbol of the assimilation of the Great Mother of the pagan cults to the cult of Mary after the Christianization of Rome.”-Mary-The Complete Resource.

Heresy of Nestorianism Detected. We do not claim or believe that Mary gave the Divine Nature to the Lord Jesus. The title "Theotokos" (Greek for "God-bearer" or "Mother of God") means that she gave birth to the one who is fully God and fully human from the moment of conception in her womb. Anyone who asserts otherwise is subject to Ana -the *ma of this Her *esy. The title "Mother of God" is crucial because it affirms the divinity of Jesus from the moment of His conception. If we deny that Mary is the Mother of God, we are essentially denying that Jesus was fully God in her womb. This title safeguards the belief that Jesus Christ is one person with both divine and human natures, united from the very beginning. By honoring Mary as Theotokos, we affirm the truth of the Incarnation-that God truly became man..

Is there really much difference, especially after Vatican II? The new mass is very protestant in my opinion. In most places none prays the rosary and there are no icons or statues.. Bands can be seen or rather heard everywhere. I really see no difference. Maybe between the Society of SSPX and some fundamentalist Baptists, but otherwise the mod RCs and the Protestants are very close. If you want to see something truly different - See the Russian Orthodox Church.

    • @savagemode.
      @savagemode. 15 дней назад

😂😂 Vatican II did not do so much to the Holy Mass, it gave more choice not removing anything as so much important. Vatican II did change but that doesn't make Holy Mass invalid bcz it's an Authentic Council. Don't give jokes about Russian Orthodox. If you are gonna talk about TLM and Novus Ordo Missae, you don't have to bcz both are Authentic and there is a reason for doing so. It's funny you are saying this similarities between certain aspects of Catholic and Protestant worship, it's important to recognize the fundamental differences in theology and ecclesiology. The Catholic Church, even post-Vatican II, maintains its apostolic succession, the seven sacraments. Vatican II aimed to make the Mass more accessible and participatory, they did not fundamentally alter the Catholic understanding of the Mass or the sacraments. The New Mass retains its Catholic identity and theology.
The use of vernacular languages and the emphasis on active participation in the Mass were intended to make the liturgy more accessible and meaningful, not to fundamentally change Catholic doctrine. The Rosary, icons, and traditional devotions remain important parts of Catholic life, although their frequency may vary across different parishes. Some parishes may not prioritize the Rosary or traditional devotions, this is not a universal trend. Many Catholic churches continue to practice these traditions. Icons and statues are still a common sight in Catholic churches. Example: Our Church still follows Vatican II bcz it doesn't oppose Icons or Rosary. The use of contemporary music in Catholic worship is a matter of preference and cultural context. While some parishes may incorporate modern music, it does not negate the traditional liturgical music that is still widely used.
Comparing mainstream Catholics to fundamentalist Baptists is a significant oversimplification. While there may be some superficial similarities, the underlying beliefs and practices are vastly different. The Catholic Church continues to uphold its traditional teachings and practices.

A Protestant response. As baptized believers, these fine individuals already are Catholic. All the redeemed are part of Christ’s catholic or universal church. They are fully united to Christ and his church. The two can’t be separated. What these Christians are doing is changing from one particular Christian tradition (Protestant and Evangelical) to another Christian tradition (Roman Catholic). The Roman church and Christ’s catholic or universal church are not synonymous. Roman Catholicism is a particular Christian tradition not exclusively the Church itself. Switching from say Lutheranism to say Roman Catholicism is not some kind of promotion. As Protestants, these Christians were not lower tier or second class Christians who have now become top tier Christians. Blessings

Don't deceive yourself into think you are in the Catholic Church.. To be catholic is to be in the fullness faith being protestant makes you a branch of the Church not a catholic. You need to come to full union with the church Christ Himself founded.

@@albertaowusu3536 I didn’t put me in Christ’s church. Christ put me in his church. Take it up with him. As a redeemed person, I have all of Christ (not just part but all) and he has all of me. Sorry that this bothers you but again I didn’t do anything. Christ did it all so take it up with him.

@@tony1685 How can the Roman Catholic tradition claim the first century church as exclusively theirs when contemporary Roman Catholicism doesn’t look anything like the primitive church? Nor are several of its dogmas taught in the early church. Roman Catholicism is largely a product of the Middle Ages. It is an historical development. Are there many fine Christians in Roman Catholicism? Absolutely. Can Roman Catholics claim the primitive church as exclusively theirs? No. The three major branches of the Christian religion (Protestant, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox) can claim the primitive church as their common heritage. The early church is our common mother but none can claim her exclusively. The scriptures teach clearly on the Catholic Church, who is in it, who is its head and how it is visibly manifest in the world. Roman Catholicism departs from this at several key points. Are there millions of Roman Catholics who are part of the redeemed and thus part of the Catholic Church? Absolutely!

@@paulsmallwood1484 Jesus gave the church authority. He did not give Luther or Calvin authority to lead the lay people astray. You are not in full communion with the Church. Jesus specifically told you to eat his flesh and drink his blood yet you deny him. Claiming you are already saved or redeemed is the sin of presumption. We are told to always work out our salvation with fear and trembling.
