    Whoop, welcome back Kip! And thanks for the shout out :)

    Nice one Kip, if it is completely dead and power is getting to the board with these old games it is usually just a dead transistor, although you can test it in situ to confirm. Welcome back and hold the the cold gets better after all that snow in NY 😃

    Good result. I can feel your pain about lack of easy wins but I'm hoping our luck will change soon. I have recently won not one, but two, boxed Grandstand Astrowars games. I'll be checking the transistors first after watching your great video.

      Haha! I saw your purchase on your community post! Looking forward to seeing what you find!

    Shame on you for not having the confidence to put it all back together first! 😁 I bought a silvery paint pen type thing for one of mine, the text looks great once applied... you just need to go slowly and try not to get any overspray... 👍

      As Mrs Hakes will attest I’m not very good at going slowly and making overspr.. wait what?! 👀

    Those resistors on the back of the PCB are MELFs - Metal Electrode Leaders Face. Don't get the spelling wrong! Lol

    I like the part where you fix it the best. Great educated guess!

    Nice video Kip! One little request - can you drop the background music level a bit during you speaking? Maybe just me but I find it distracting from the content. Cheers

    Well done. If you do get back to the firefox, note that the schematic available on some sites is incorrect (wrongly orientated and identified diodes and caps and incorrect chopper circuit).

    • @kiphakes

      Is there a correct one?!

    • @ralphj4012
      @ralphj4012 6 месяцев назад

      @@kiphakesNot as far as I know. I did start to correct it but I was doing that based on your video and other circuit boards views I saw elsewhere on the web. I sold my one many years ago. A valuable reverse-engineering exercise for someone who has one.

      @ralphj4012 well.. I’ve got a working one now.. hoping to ID some of the zeners!

      @@kiphakesGood luck! You could, if you wish, use the downloaded schematic and then correct it as you go along (if you swap the polarity of all the zeners on the schematic you will have a reasonable starting point (not for the faint-hearted). The chopper part is completely wrong and will need to be redrawn. Some forums do correctly identify the zener voltages
