I finally decided to get this and here is my take on it. If all you do is mix and master, then this isn't for you. I have all the plugins that do everything this does, however as a writer/producer I really like this software for writing more than anything else. One thing that isn't really mentioned here is how there isn't any latency that goes with this plugin which for me is huge. As I am writing, I like to have things sound at least close to what I am looking for and at the end I usually wipe it all anyway as the song takes twists and turns that I would never expect when I start with nothing but a blank canvas. What is so great about having this tool now is my workflow as I am writing has already tripled and now I don't have to turn plugins off to record an instrument or vocal since my latency is still sitting at 8-10ms which is nothing close to when I have my other plugins which can increase my latency upward to 500-1200ms. If you are the kind of person who has no ability to write a song from scratch then yes, this plugin is a waste, but if you are a writer/musician beginner or advanced, this is worth owning. Cheers...
Josh, I totally agree with the above. I have never had a workflow this efficient. As a solo musician, I find myself recording that guitar track I would have never moved forward with, if EZMIX2 didn't have those nice mastering tweaks that really make the tracks come alive. Most of my recordings I just want to get the data down and then tweak later. This tools allows me to do a lot without having to re-record. It's not for the studio engineers who is on that "mad scientist" level but it makes it so much easier for us home studio musicians. In addition, I've used 4 different computers on this software and have experienced very little to no latency as well. Only in stand-alone mode when I'm testing different guitar sounds etc. Even then, it's not too bad.
Is there any possibility to edit effects in detail, especially in "Metal Guitar Gods". I would like to edit e.g. the the Noise Gate but I am only able to use the provided parameters. Cheers and thanks a lot
I love EZ mix.. I have several packs... of course every preset isn't going to work on all source material but in a given mix I usually find a home for several presets that do a great job. Might want to run the speech audio on this video through one of the de essing presets.
I think this is good for beginners who don’t have any experience with compressors, parametric eq , etc. or maybe for quick shortcuts writing a song... not a bad thing.
Interested to try it. But I do love to learn and try make tunes the hard manual way, troubleshooting the order of things and battling with the balance of "high volume" vs clear sound. Looks like what happened in color grading in film. No client asks for manual, handmade looks. People want the LUTs and filters. It's a bitter pill for creators but it is what it is.
A question about EZ Mix? Does it work like EZ Keys, where the chord progression can be customized? My question is not mentioned in the video. I own EZ Drummer 2, EZ Keys and its bundles BTW. I plan to get EZ Mix 2 and all its bundles as Christmas shopping or Boxing Day! XD
If you could toggle into a kind of advanced mode to see the toolchain of each preset and tweak it, id instabuy this, but otherwise I seem to miss to learn how to set up these things and give them a personal character...
Why don't let users change parameters of different devices in presets? What if i like some preset, but want to change compression ratio or Q-factor of some band in eq?
Hey guys, could I use this on acoustic fingerstyle guitar and vocals maybe some harmonica as I'm recording some folk/singer songwriter material? Thanks in advance.
Hi Absolutley. Mastering, Vocal Toolbox, Songwriters Tool and Country Guitars or Indie Guitars are all EZmix Packs that could be worth looking into. (Plus the Main EZmix 2 software which is required) www.toontrack.com/product-category/ezmixline/ezmix-packs/ You could also check out the bundle options and even make your own bundle: www.toontrack.com/product-category/ezmixline/ezmixline-bundles/
@@Ross-nj6ck I downloaded the demo and no, it's not and to be honest I wasn't impressed. You have to use the amp sims of EZmix and then there is some mastering presets. It doesn't worth it. Since then I learned a few things about mixing, not much, some eq ing, some compression, and there are many mix-ready amp sims and drum libraries out there that don't need much other than that. The same goes for mastering, there are plugins like ozone which are far better than EZmix and you can tweak it to your preference, and the cost is not so high anymore.
So how would EZ Mix work with tracks recorded using other bass and guitar plugins like Hellraiser and Amplitube? Am I bound to the EZMix presets? What about if I'm using EZDrummer2 recorded tracks?
The EZmix effects and signal chain presets can be added to your track as a plugin so it can be changed or bypassed if you wanna use the original sound on the track.
Noticed the same thing. IZotope’s Ozone has a “gain match” button right next to bypass, which is a very nice feature. (Not necessarily a competing product, but a useful feature)
Those are not part of the EZmix 2 plugin. They are part of the Pro tools Plugin window, so if you don't have these you are not using pro tools. NO Problem. Whatever daw you have will surely have a bypass option.
So you have to have the mastering pack to do mastering? Also, this seems more geared toward hard rock/metal. I produce easy listening/soft rock/jazz. Are there plenty of presets for these genres?
I’m on the fence about buying ez2 firstly it’s relatively old tech, and with the constant updates to every other 3rd party plug I have I wonder when the costly update is going to drop I mean Studio One 4 includes chains now although I prefer ProTools and ableton but I do run all 3, secondly it’s misleading the say this is a mix software because unlike mastering products like ozone and even ez2 master 1-2 that can actually master (kind of) when used on your “main or master” channel strip it doesn’t “mix” for you it simply provides preset chains which is tracking not mixing, anyone who can mix will tell you every element needs its own sonic space so unless the product is analyzing every tracks eq, pan, volume and compression and changing setting as you layer tracks and addresses gain staging from the beginning it’s not mixing anything, what I do like is using celebrated seasoned pros contribution to these chains, amp modeling that can rival guitar rig, amplitube or bias and having an array of tools so that when I do “mix” I’m a bit closer to mastering and the finished product, I checked out Frog Leap Studio vids and he uses ezmix and ezdrummer and his stuff sounds great but to be fare he does have a Kemper for his guitar emulations
Ozone is undoubtedly more powerfull than this but Only if you know Ozone properly. What this plugin does is that has already professionally made fx chains for whatever music they offer, included the packs. The basic edition without packs offer fx chains for drums guitar, bass and vocals as i see with No option for editing, because there is No reason to edit a true professionaly fx chain. You Have to follow the rules here and Not ask to edit because the chains here are Already edited

Why does my e guitar sounds like shit? I recordet it directly like toontrack said and its not good. Can anybody help me out?
Did you record a dry signal or one with distortion? Your signal should be dry/clean, meaning no distortion applied to it. In practice that means you plug your guitar into your interface and that's it. The guitar presets actually sound quite OK.

Right...the fact that everything is so available to anyone, makes it difficult for guys in my field, but that is where experience steps into play. It doesn't really matter the software, hardware or if you even use a studio. its the talent, skills and experience that makes or breaks a record.
