For comparison, the WNBA averages a bit over 400 double doubles per year. It's had 31 triple doubles in 28 years.
Anyone saying Caitlin doesn't deserve the ROTY because of Angel's double doubles is ridiculous. If Caitlin has a second triple, the talk is OVER. It should truly be over right now. Caitlin is far above every other rookie player.
I agree. And also believe CC will end up with about 15 double doubles. She's also currently the only rookie in WNBA history with 3 consecutive Scoring and assist double doubles

Honestly, 7th is the highest they could go, and that's a lot. There are many things now that their COACH is getting about Clark's game. Benching Wheeler and Wallace is paying off big time for them. Mitchell has to accept more roles as a spot up shooter and Samuelson has to make hers. They can look like the better IOWA 2.0 if they just take their roles and let CC cook. Mitchell can increase her scoring numbers and so does Boston. RUN, and KEEP SHOOTING THREES, AND ALWAYS HAVE CAITLIN'S BACK!
Two things I would love to see. Team USA get beat by the Allstar team and for the Fever to win the league championship. Both are possible if Sides gets out of the way and Caitlin plays her ball instead of worrying about everyone else's feelings.

You are not kidding
Phoenix is old. Old players are slow and they just don't match up when a lot of the teams have young talent. The Fever are growing faster than other teams mostly because they have a bunch of youth and a new point guard that is a great passer. Whether you like it or not most players have never played with a great passer and it takes time learning how to catch some of those passes. I could see the Fever really being a problem near the end of the year if Mitchell can learn how to play team ball the last couple months.
I think pretty soon, we’ll see Indiana and Phoenix as a .500 team with 5 teams (Chicago, Atlanta, DC, Los Angeles, Dallas) under them and 5 teams above them. The Fever had a good week last week and I think they’re finishing strong up to the break.
From all the talk about all the stuff I think there is one simple thing happening. The rest of the team is now ready to accept a pass anywhere at any time. They realize if they do their job they will score and will win. That is making the hate go away within the team, winning makes people happy and builds on itself. And yes, run run run run run run run run😁
They play Phoenix twice, Minnesota twice and Seattle once in their next 7 games. That’s 5 very tough games out of 7. It’s very hard to imagine they get to .500.

@@yngtrey1638 a game every other day including 1 back to back. Since getting there second win they are 8 and 5. Wednesdays game is a big one coming off the liberty game and lots of rest. They need to come out and put a beating on them.

The only way Caitlin is going to win Rookie of the Year is if she leads the Fever to a legit playoff run. Feels unfair, but feels like it’s her only chance.
If she does not get injured, Clark will be ROTY with ease. With ease, my friend.

@@Anonymouslytired For sure. But I don't even think she needs more triple doubles to get it. Her contribution is unheard of for a rookie. Reese is also a very excellent player, very good. But in the end, Clark has more ways to hurt an opponent than Reese.

It is sad because she is definitely the ROTY BUT ESPN and wnba are doing everything possible for her not to win it !!
Clark and the Fever currently have an 80% chance of being a 500 team and making the playoffs than the 60% that Reese and the Sky have. The Sky will finish the season playing multiple games against the top 6 teams. The August game against the Fever will determine who goes to the playoffs and I don't see the Fever losing that game. The only reason they lost that first game in Chicago was because of the dumbass coach and the crooked referees who were bought to throw to game in favor of the Sky.
Indiana has been playing good recently.Beating Phoenix,and the Liberty.
Fever is getting some extra love in the rankings (possibly undeserved, we'll see) because after starting 1-8, they have since gone 8-5. That is a remarkable and sustained turnaround. And yes, also because CC hype. I'd feel better about the Fever's post-season chances if CC could get her turnovers down around 3 per game for the rest of the season without losing a beat on APG & PPG.
Everyone knows that if both CC and Angel were African American , ESPN and the WNBA would support CC for the ROTY award. I say give it to Angel already and let her have her day in the sun while CC walks to the bank for the rest of the year spending her product endorsement checks lol

The Fever can play with the best of them, but they miss too many shots by rushing. But they, including the coach, are also still learning to play together. With growing confidence leading to better shooting, they could go, and stay, over .500.
I’m an optimist. so I think ranking them 6th is fair, while agreeing that they aren’t the best team or the best scheme. But they are starting to believe in themselves and the motto, ‘everyone eats’ seems real. If Caitlin starts to improve her shooting percentage, all bets are off for me in terms of how far they can go. My two goals for them before the break are to go 3/4 in their final four games, (beating the Lynx matters to me since their coach seems to dislike Clark) I also want to see them score 100 pts before the break. I think they can do it, and possibly against the Wings if you look at how many points are routinely scored against them.
You’re completely underestimating the Fever. Not as bad as Geno and his UConn bias, but nevertheless, you’re reporting erratic inconsistency, when that just isn’t the case. They’ve gotten significantly better each week. Aside from one truly lifeless game against the storm, they haven’t had another bad game since the end of that 11 game in 19 day stretch to begin the season.
What’s scary is that CC hasn’t shot well in many games lately and they are still beating playoff teams. Once she finds her shot, they really may be #3.
CCs turnovers are down, both self inflicted and teammate butterfinger varieties, AB is looking much smoother and agile, KM was actually looking to pass more in the flow of the game during this most recent game, Sides has shown a willingness to shuffle the lineup in extreme ways and seems to be exhibiting recognition of playing those who are playing better or have better matchups as opposed to playing favorites.
Fever has had a tougher schedule. They will make the playoffs with Caitlin Clark winning the ROTY.
Ranking them above Phoenix seems a little crazy to me.
It's debatable, but far from "crazy." The Power Rankings are based on how teams are playing recently, not overall records. The Fever have gone 8-5 after a 1-8 start, and the Mercury have gone 8-9 after a 3-1 start. The Fever also won their only head-to-head game against the Mercury so far, AT Phoenix no less. And the Fever just beat the best team in the league.
So calling it "crazy" to rank the Fever above the Mercury is (sorry but I gotta say it) "a little crazy."

Crazy wasn’t the right word to use, your right. I just disagree with it. If you ask a team who’d they rather play Fever or Mercury? What do you think most teams answers are going to be? I believe 90% say the fever, Therefor Mercury are higher in power rankings to me….

@@talldreamyopposum correct, but it should be taken into consideration when doing power rankings… if Steph Curry was injured for GSW and they lost a few games straight I don’t believe it should affect their power rankings. Just my way of looking at it. Power rankings are all an eye test, there’s nothing really to measure them on, and I believe a healthy Phoenix team is better than the fever still.

@@hardensoul7248 I am honestly not too sure on how that works in the W. I know their is the expansion draft that allows the new team to take players from other teams. And the current teams are allowed to protect like 5 or 6 of their players. Not sure how the actual rookie draft works though
@@yngtrey1638not sure about expansion effect on the draft, but other non playoff teams draft order is decided by a lottery. The combined win-loss record of the last 2 seasons combined is what determines the percentage of lottery balls your team gets. I assume they based it on last 2 years to further dissuade teams from tanking beyond the lottery format itself
Chicago Sky beat the NY Liberty on the road in New York (Chi-90 vs NY-81), Indiana beat the Liberty at home in Indiana (NY-78 vs IND-83) after losing three other games to the Liberty, it’s hard to beat a team four times in a row, so Indiana got lucky with that fourth game win.

There is no science in any of the power rankings I have seen in the other sports - you can just stack them up by their records - there seems to be little credit given for having a close or bad game - up one week, down the next or vice versa - no problem!
