Saitama's dilemma is that ever since he managed to remove his limiter, he essentially ceased to become human and something more.
The prize for this was his hair and dampening of his emotions. He probably doesn't even need to eat nor sleep but does it out of habit, he never runs out of stamina due to his limitless power.
What Saitama needs is friends like Genos,King,Bang/Bomb,Mumen and so on to make him feel grounded and human again.
And we see this throughout the story, they support him because they really care about him and worry at times even though they dont really need to.

Fighting against Garou, saiatma needed to keep genos' core to stay sane and accomplish the kid last wish and avoid killing garou.
Perfect explanation and if u look back , it's plausible that he died/very near death a couple times while training/fighting before his limiter was removed

One punch man is not just about being a hero for others and inspiring them. It's also being a hero for yourself and finding oneself. Because you can't be a hero for other people before you become your own hero first.
The reason why Saitama is different from the rest is because he trained his spirit as well he’s past the second era of change and unlike the other people who are now too dependent on heroes he has evolved into a being who could adapt to any situation

Yeah I’m the manga even though Saitama’s the main character it’s like there is no main character and everyone has their own perspective and story, Some of the other characters are kinda like your usual protagonist

Yes and no tbh..,. Saitama still is the main character but doesn’t follow the rules of other mangas that see the protagonist as the only real prospective to see the things…. The monster arc saw Garou as the main character more than Saitama and the hero association defending force had his spotlight and a really good one…
Tbh I like the fact most of the Class S have his own spotlight both for diversity and because of the fighting style everyone has is pretty awsome and interesting to see

Yeah the manga makes it such a big filled out world and it has a direction because of the prophecy. saitamas role in the story changes as the world changes around him, like with garou fight.
Honestly I did not want any spoilers but there is a whole other year for season 3 potentially to start so I might as well just watch this. I enjoyed both seasons personally. I’m more of a person that wants to focus on the story more than the animation and I love this show. I recently got into anime too.
Just read the manga bro it's honestly worth it and there is no guarantee that season 3 will live up to the source material. Plus by the time season 3 starts you probably won't remember everything you read. Also, since you say you recently got into anime and that you value the story i'd like to give you some advice. New anime fans tend to go for shows with a lot of action since those are generally the popular ones and usually fall under the shonen category. Try to not become one of those people and give other categories or genres a go since those have incredibly good shows as well. Some like Erased which is a short criminal timetravel mystery or kaguaya sama which is an incredibly funny romcom anime with great characters are a few examples. I also hope you've watched or at least heard of mob psycho which is amazing and focuses a lot on story telling and character development with humor and great fights like opm since it's written by the same person. Anyways good luck, hope you find some great shows to watch.

I love Saitama as a character thematically because he’s gotten everything he’s wanted. Most shonen follow characters who grow and battle morally and physically against villains of growing stature and presence. We see them come from nothing to having defeated the (blank blank) and proven their point. Because they always have a point, friendship protecting something something. And I love it. But Saitama is different. He has no true obstacles in the way of fighting. His obstacles are the everyday; but more so internal struggles. He differs from most MCs because he has lost his way where most protagonists may lose their fight but rarely lose their way. Saitama still hasn’t completely found his way.

Everything you said summarizes why this is probably my favorite series ever and one of the very few that I bother reading the manga. I love everything abou One Punch Man way too much
One punchman is one of those few where if you did skip the manga, you're missing out Murata's godly art.

I like how the characters feel both fantastical but also grounded and relatable in ways. The characters also have a good combination of unique strengths and weaknesses, and they get moments to shine but also get made fun of at times without breaking the balance.

Man, I remember when I picked up the OPM manga, what I previously theorized to be the absolute potential for what a manga could be was surpassed. The story telling by ONE and the artwork by Murata was just God tier. The attention to detail in art and story, the depth of all the characters, the philosophy, the action, the comedy…all of it was truly amazing. Even Boros, who at a first glance seems like a stereotypical bad guy who wants to fight and destroy all in his sight, is just a parallel of what Saitama struggles with but has taken it to the extreme…two sides of the same coin. So many fantastic moments and fights, especially that one fight if you know what I mean (no spoiling here).

I need to look back but I believe a lot of that Phoenix man fight was redrawn. They scaled back Phoenix mans power a bit and got Saitama a little involved.

Garous one of my favorite characters to date. His developement is some of the best ive ever seen. Another case of edgy done right, i love how there are signs before garous motive is revealed that hes not a bad dude. He refuses to hurt kids and despite the name “hero hunter “ has never killed anyone intentionally except for one. I buy his redemption arc and im glad hes still around
yeah, season 1 is about saitama, the next arc is about the heroes and the monsters, Garou becomeing the MC in that arc because he represents both cases.

Yeah definitely. When one wants to draw well, he can. The crude art style seems to be more of a stylistic choice at this point, and his paneling has always been great.

I think one of the biggest ideas of opm is passion because saitama original has a passion for fighting but when he got to strong he lost that passion and became depressed and later becoming just a hero for fun but as we see in the anime in manga saitama is amazing at inspiring people so I believe that saitama will sooner or later gain back that passion as a protector and mentor

Currently I think I'm somewhere in a middle of monster association arc in the manga and god I love it (still hate Puri puri prisoner tho. [the most unfunny gag imaginable]) I never expected to like sweet mask or flashy flash but now they are my favourites. Moving to manga was the best choice I've made since moving to one piece manga
season 3 got announced in August btw. and it is going to be another studio (NOT JC STAFF) most likely BONES (the studio that did my hero academia and mob psycho 100)

@@ritualgentle904 right, they criticize the animations of season 2 the most even though the story was amazing, especially the introduction of Garou. People also mostly complain that Saitama didn’t have much screen time in season 2 which is also a good thing since watching the overpowered protagonist one punch everything is just boring, so Saitama is perfect for a last case scenario.

The funny thing is that what made OPM so popular in the first place was the unique setting of strongest from the get go which was something new at the time and the incredible panel camera angles not it's story. If you look at the story of one punch man it's really.... ehh mid if I'm being honest. Initially One punch man was godlike but as the vision of Yusuke and ONE grew different the manga had a downfall. Yusuke made a really weird ending of Garou and saitama fighting with all their might and it turned from a comedy to a adventure fighting anime all of a sudden which removed one of the core fundamentals that made one punch man super entertaining to watch. I would recommend people to read the original manga by ONE which in my opinion is leagues ahead of yusuke's ver.
