So glad to see this. I remember being 8 or 9 staying up late to watch this show on adult swim. I’m 26 now and I’ve watched the series 3-4 times all the way through and it still gives me the same emotions as when I first watched it. 10/10 masterpiece of a show.
"Only hope can give rise to the emotion we call despair. But it is nearly impossible for a man to try to live without hope, so I guess that leaves man no choice but to walk around with despair as his companion." - Samurai Champloo Quote
I loved the song played at the final moments of Samurai Champloo. San Fransico was its name if I remember correctly. That hit hard. Really hard. And, I always hated those feelings. I never liked walking home after hanging out with a group of friends for an entire day with the setting sun encircling me, but San Fransico captures that and keeps a high note. It's the end, but that just means another chapter will open up tomorrow, and something new awaits me.
many people like Mugen or Jin but my favourite has always been Fuu. for no particular reason. also each time i go watch i understand something new about the trio. For example, the first time I missed that the reason Jin and Mugen tried to protect Fuu is because they consider her a little sister, that Jin was actually the most sensitive compassionate one of the trio, that the only reason fuu gets into so much trouble is because she actually likes an adventure (don't get fooled by her words girl just wanna have fun lol), also Mugen isn't emotionless he has just seen so much of the ugly side of the world that it's became funny.
This was one of the first anime that I watched over and over again and it was also the anime that got me into lo-fi hip-hop as a whole. Listening to Nujabes is just an amazing experience and not just that but Nujabes is still my favorite producer to this day and I think that he will be my favorite till the day I die. As you said, the music really makes the story. It teaches you so much like how life is about the journey itself and not the destination, no matter who tells you so, the importance of moving on ahead and hell, the more I think about it, this anime lowkey saved me in some regard.
"instead of being sad that the good times ended you should be glad that they happened" well put, exactly how I felt when watching the end for a second time as an adult.
This perfectly sums up why Samurai Champloo is my favorite anime of all time. The journey these three go on is so memorable, not to mention the music by Nujabes is incredible. Even though it’s been well over a decade since this show came out, it will forever be timeless. Thank you for reigniting my love for Samurai Champloo!

If you haven't seen this entire show in Japanese, I would strongly recommend you do so. Not only does it make the show feel more authentic to its setting, but you will miss out on some of the greatest voice acting of all time if you skip the original version. Mugen's original Japanese voice actor is incredible. As great as Bloom is (I love him as Wolverine), there are certain Japanese linguistic and cultural cues that cannot be replicated in other languages, that make the characters - especially Mugen - more funny and badass. So if you've seen the show in English already (as I have), a re-watch in the original soundtrack is worth it.
@@Splashus_Klay no. It most certainly is not. Blum as Mugen is nothing short of amazing and captures Mugen’s essence perfectly. Jin’s Va is also phenomenal, captures his nonchalantness perfectly. I’m usually a subbed Japanese VA snob, but this show and Bebop are just as good if not better dubbed
Samurai Champloo is and has always been my favorite anime…I really wish more anime was made in this style of animation and story telling. There is no other anime that hits the intrigue buttons like this show has done to me. Im glad I got to experience this show when it came out in the early 2000s, the show made my year. The final boss fight scene with Jean and the boss guy on the cliff, with the music with moment gives me goosebumps. Fantastic climax and ending to an anime which is so rare.
Damn the end is really deep and relatable. Big props on the break down and showing this work of art some love.... a great piece to pic up on the journey of life moving forward!

Something that I really love about samurai champloo is how this show mixxed the old classic samurai movies theme of some warrior traveling with a certain objectives and living different adventures on their way. And mix it with modern hip hop culture stuff. I forgot the name of it, but itreminds me of that old TV serie about a samurai traveling with a baby but mixxed with modern stuff.
Not gonna lie, when counting stars started playing when Jin was running with his lover and then had to send her off, the emotions I felt were.......... Man Champloo is the GOAT

I'm glad to hear people talking like that about Samurai Champloo. This anime will accompany me for the rest of my life, with a couple of other. in all the various times i've heard people talk about that mindset that "you shouldn't be sad that it's over, be glad it happened!" i've never heard anyone think about it your way; "even though they've gone their separate ways, they'll always be connected through their memories together," until just now. and honestly it's really beautiful. i love that.

Yeah, I definitely plan to go back and watch it in Japanese later
Mugen's Japanese voice actor also voices Zoro.
It is the only way to watch it!
@@Splashus_Klay NAHHHHH. I watched both and still prefer English. Not because of nostalgia, the English VA is genuinely amazing.
oh man, you REALLY had to hit me with the Jazz Spastiks and Apani B less than 30 seconds after the video started.
Great work on this.
Glad u liked it
Champloo will forever be engraved a legend iconic as one of the best anime ever, I dont ever feel like itll ever be outdated not the graphics not the music. And omg the humor lmao
It really is timeless
iv'e gone through samurai champloo 12 times. Easily my favorite anime of all time and I guarantee nothing will ever beat it. Their soundtrack completely shifted my entire life.
Fr, the soundtrack hits so hard

man this anime was my childhood and that ending theme makes me replay every event I every had i really think this needs more recognition
The intro song to this anime is amazing, one of my favorite songs
This shows aesthetic is incredible. The show made me laugh while also painting an incredible story I don't know if any show will ever make me feel the way this show did.
This show made me love Anime, Hip-hop, samurai, and Japan culture as artist this show was masterpiece from art to style to colors used soo bright and vibrant
There's not a single aspect of this show that's bad, I think that's why so many of us hold this show as our favorite.
I find myself coming back to this video every now and then to reminisce. Thank you for this video essay. You explained the art of this anime so well. "They leave the story just as fast as they come into it". Beautifully said. Thanks again 3>
Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you are able to find meaning in this video
Your vid randomly popped on my feed, glad it did ! I've watched the show at least once a year for a couple years now, don't think I'll ever get tired of it. Your analysis was spot on, good job bro.

I relate to your feelings so much op samurai champloo has ment so much to me and shaped who i am. For me it was an escape from reality as a kid when i would go visit my father and have the best day of my life every time watching anime. Samurai champloo nestled itself in the cracks of my heart and im glad others appreciate and love it as much as i do
Why are the most sincere RUclipsrs the small ones? Why can I only find them when I'm not looking?
God damn this website. RUclips delivers the content I really want about as often as dubs are worth watching.
Well I'm glad you found the channel
This was one of the first animes i saw back near 15 years ago now and is still my favorite one by far.
Samurai Champloo is my favorite anime of all time. Thank you for creating this insightful video and giving it the recognition and praise it deserves!
Thanks
Remember that one episode near the end where it was a different song? God that song got me on the couch crying
Yeah, it's called "Who's Theme" if you wanna search it up
I don't watch many anime reviewers but this was really good, and i feel like you really encapsulated what makes this anime so special. I'll sub hope to see more content like this in the future.
Oh wow, that means a lot
Brooo, everything you are saying is how I feel about the show, you taking the words out my brain!!! The ending is so satisfying
Nujabes got me into Hiphop beats. Now i have my own songs with millions of ppl listening. Im truly grateful for this peace of art.

This series really hits me deep and makes me so emotional just thinking about it. Holding back my tears rn, great video!
Fantastic video, man. This show will always be my favorite anime ever. The music, the animation, the voice acting is all top notch. Truly a masterpiece.
Samurai Champloo is a perfect example of "It's about the Journey not the Destination"
very well put, love samurai champloo essay videos
Something that I really love about samurai champloo is how this show mixxed the old classic samurai movies theme of some warrior traveling with a certain objectives and living different adventures on their way. And mix it with modern hip hop culture stuff.
I forgot the name of it, but itreminds me of that old TV serie about a samurai traveling with a baby but mixxed with modern stuff.
Not gonna lie, when counting stars started playing when Jin was running with his lover and then had to send her off, the emotions I felt were.......... Man Champloo is the GOAT
Bro yes wtf that scene is my go to ending with the girl sailing off in the distance
@@kujone yes bro, when both of them were looking at each other, I can only imagine what they were thinking
Another underrated channel to add to my list. Sadly I can't watch all of your videos in one go because they touch on series I need to watch/read, but I'm really looking forward to seeing what other videos you have in store. Your presentation is crisp and your ideas are interesting enough to keep my attention; keep up the good work!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thats why I have a tattoo reminding me of the greatness of the show and the music of Nujabes
Oh wow, thats cool
The anime that got me into rapping. After watching this show back in middle school and rewatching it again in highschool, the soundtrack and the characters play a massive role in my own journey in music. To this day, not only my all time favorite anime but the deep connection I have with both this show and Nujabes makes me appreciate the essence and beauty of the present
Checked out some of your stuff. It's awesome man keep pushing towards your dream
@@NitsuaVids Appreciate you man! You definitely getting a sub from me
Damn. This was already my favorite anime, along the lines of Afro Samurai, but your analysis has made me appreciate this more.
I am touched that this happens to be one of your favorites
I wonder sometimes why, even decades later, it has a special place in my heart
Thanks
I've had Shiki No Uta as my ringtone for the longest time now. It's such an amazing song.
The ending song is so beautiful. The English version is so beautiful. Just the chorus " The sun will rise and we'll say farewell to forever all the happiness will only be a dream- oh darling won't you stay with me cause all these seasons aren't the same without you - in the darkest times you'll always light the way oh darling won't you stay"- ugh beautiful! Def one of my favorite anime's!
Loved this video! One of my all time favorite animes, some of my most nostalgic memories come from this show and music within it. The way you put this together really did it justice and I felt the commentary was very heartfelt and relatable
I am biliungual (I speak English and Spanish) This anime is one of the few that I can watch in both languages (DUBBED) and it is AMAZING!! The Spanish Dubbed IS JUST AS AMAZING AS THE ENGLISH DUB!! I cannot say this about all anime AT ALL and I am an anime fanatic!! This show is amazing ALL AROUND!! The way you did this video was GREAT!! You bring up all the best points for why I love this show and have rewatched it so much!! And the way you mention THE ENDING SONG OF EVERY EPISODE!! ( shiki no uta) YES!!!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!!! Simply incredible
Yeah I’ve heard a lot of people saying that the Spanish dub is really good
I’m so glad people love this anime as much as I do, this anime will always resonate in my heart. Never get tired of it!
it's just so different and so perfect. Shows like that don't really come often.
great video, exactly what I was looking for after finishing Samurai Champloo. You put everything I like about this show into words and analyzed so well. I think I will remember this show forever. Keep it up Nitsua.
Oh.. Thank you so much man! Your content is legendary.
I like your voice.. and the video about SLAM DUNK was insane. I hope you make more SLAM DUNK content.
I really love anime from the 90s and early 2000s..
All the best... Never lose passion for creating such a good content.
The biggest greatfulness for me is, this anime introduced me to Ikue Asazaki
The journey is definitely better than the destination. Loved your breakdown of this phenomenal anime man. New subscriber here
Thx dude
I say this every time I think of the show, gamblers and gallantry will make me cry till the end of time. And with the B plot being about fighting fucking Beatles that's quite an accomplishment. Seeing Gene send away the one person he may ever love is just gut wrenching
Dude awesome video, I absolutely love Samurai Champloo. Not only is it one of the best anime's out there, but just being able to find out about Nujabes, his godly amazing music, and how his impact is still being felt to this day, is more than I could have asked for in a show.
I saw this video on my home page and watched till the first line when you mentioned shows we go back to and mine was always cowboy bebop with this show being directed by the same guy I was planning on watching it but this video pushed me to watch it through and through now that I’ve seen it I just wanted to say thank you a true masterpiece of a show and a great video
I'm glad to hear people talking like that about Samurai Champloo.
This anime will accompany me for the rest of my life, with a couple of other. The show is a perfect definition of how important the journey is. And how everything, even if it was great must come to an end.
I have the ending scene, when they all three face signs, tattooed on my calf. And I hope I will be able to talk about it with my grandkids if I have some.
Jesus man such a beautiful description of this amazing work of art
amazing video friend i teared up thinkin about cowboy bebop when you mentioned it. definitiely watching this now
This was awesome to listen to .... Your exit from this conversation was pretty surreal . Good work
in all the various times i've heard people talk about that mindset that "you shouldn't be sad that it's over, be glad it happened!"
i've never heard anyone think about it your way; "even though they've gone their separate ways, they'll always be connected through their memories together," until just now.
and honestly it's really beautiful. i love that.
some anime u watch once and boom u forget them......
some...... u cant even get it out ur head no matter what u tried......
this story is legendary and that show is made to inspire
"peopel come and go we just need to keep on moving" i love that closing quote
to me this is the best anime ever created. i can only hope we get something on this level again someday.
I loved this overly sentimental anime video u made, who cares what people think is meaningful or not, loving what you love and being original will always reign supreme imo
Samurai champloo was definitely a certified hood classic
Great video bro! Good analysis and you finished off the video perfect with that line👌🏽Samurai Champloo really stuck with me a lot and I wasn’t sure why but it’s good knowing someone felt the same exact way.
This is my favorite anime of all time. The ending melts my hears.
Beautiful review bro! Samurai Champloo is also my favourite anime of all time! The songs by Jun Seba (a.k.a Nujabes) is like the sound track of my life. This anime inspired me to actually visit Japan…it was definitely worth it! The ending was PERFECT…it just reminded us to value every moment because they won’t last forever. Great job on the review!!
Yeah, I hope to one day be able to visit Japan. From what my friends and family have said it seems really cool
I honor the apreciation you gave to this artwork. It is well deserved.
