I love Champloo, but a huge mistake a lot of people seem to gloss over when addressing the soundtrack is ignoring the influences of Force of Nature, and Fat Jon, both huge parts of the soundtrack alongside Nujabes. Personally i was starting college, meeting new people, gaining new experiences, learning more about myself
The anime paralleled my life, its not about the destination but the journey and yeah i've met people
Some good, some bad, others weird, others wise ,even fell in love
But when graduation arrived,we did what the 3 protags did and went our separate ways, heck i had san francisco playing in my head the moment i left the gymnasium on grad night

The ending of Champloo always makes me tear up. When I first saw it I was glad they didn't go the normal "lets stay together" route. And that decision elevated the story for me. Yeah there are some dumb episodes in Champloo but those couple of gem episodes (Sara, Mugen's backstory, Jin's lover) are the ones I love going back to. Great video man and you're video did have a purpose because it reminded me how much I love this story.

I loved the song played at the final moments of Samurai Champloo. San Fransico was its name if I remember correctly. That hit hard. Really hard. And, I always hated those feelings. I never liked walking home after hanging out with a group of friends for an entire day with the setting sun encircling me, but San Fransico captures that and keeps a high note. It's the end, but that just means another chapter will open up tomorrow, and something new awaits me.

For example, the first time I missed that the reason Jin and Mugen tried to protect Fuu is because they consider her a little sister, that Jin was actually the most sensitive compassionate one of the trio, that the only reason fuu gets into so much trouble is because she actually likes an adventure (don't get fooled by her words girl just wanna have fun lol), also Mugen isn't emotionless he has just seen so much of the ugly side of the world that it's became funny.

If you haven't seen this entire show in Japanese, I would strongly recommend you do so. Not only does it make the show feel more authentic to its setting, but you will miss out on some of the greatest voice acting of all time if you skip the original version.
Mugen's original Japanese voice actor is incredible. As great as Bloom is (I love him as Wolverine), there are certain Japanese linguistic and cultural cues that cannot be replicated in other languages, that make the characters - especially Mugen - more funny and badass. So if you've seen the show in English already (as I have), a re-watch in the original soundtrack is worth it.

Listening to Nujabes is just an amazing experience and not just that but Nujabes is still my favorite producer to this day and I think that he will be my favorite till the day I die. As you said, the music really makes the story. I say this every time I think of the show, gamblers and gallantry will make me cry till the end of time. And with the B plot being about fighting fucking Beatles that's quite an accomplishment. Seeing Gene send away the one person he may ever love is just gut wrenching

Great video bro ! I'm a sucker for anything Shinichiro Watanabe makes cause the man never misses ! Samurai Champloo is such an amazing show and this video really breaks down why that concept you bring up of coming back to a show all the time it hitting you a certain way it happened with all Watanabe's works for me with Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Space Dandy

I have the ending scene, when they all three face signs, tattooed on my calf. And I hope I will be able to talk about it with my grandkids if I have some.

The main reason I love this show is the stylistic perspective. Each character's perspective of events unfolding are emphasized to resound the philosophy of the main character of that particular scene. With the divinity of break-step hip-hop and some of the slickest scratches matched by the eclectic beats we know and love of the genre.

When I was younger, I didn't quite understand the ending. In fact, I actually wanted them to stay together a little longer. I watched it once, cried, and moved on to the next anime. And now, nearly a decade later, I finally realized what it meant. As I was thinking about my past, I realized that all my high school friends are in different places of life right now. One is having a kid, one is married, one is in college, etc. We're all living different lives right now, despite having been together for quite some time. We shared a journey, went through some crazy shit, and now we're on our own. And I'm not upset about it. Instead, I smile about it, much like how Mugen, Jin, and Fuu are in the final episode. The show, with all the silly episodes and all, ending up sticking with me after all this time. Samurai Champloo is an anime you can watch once and never forget.

This and cowboy bebop were my first animes I’ve ever experienced and that was all thanks to late night adult swim back in 2007, coming home from middle school to just sit in awe at these 2 shows and me falling asleep to the soundtrack every night. I will forever be thankful for experiencing watanabes shows because they shaped who I am today and we’re the reasons I started to watch anime, unfortunately there’s practically almost no other shows that are like samurai champloo at all but that’s ok because it truly is one of a kind. Mugen and Spike are literally the templates of my 6th grade self lmao

Champloo is vastly superior in plot, in sound, artwork, and voice acting. There is a reason it is still being discussed twenty years later.
