Hi Kicki. Recently, when I commented on your newest video, I recommended a fragrance from Milano Fragranze called "Derby". I love that fragrance, and one of its main notes is galbanum. I think it's interesting that I left that comment mentioning "Derby", and today, out of all of your videos, your galbanum video was the one recommended to me in my algorithm. I'll use this video as a reference because I've been realizing that I like galbanum, and I plan to discover more fragrances which include it.
Galbanum is such an interesting note! Really interesting what you said about the algorithm, too. Sounds pretty sophisticated. There is something resinous and gooey about galbanum and I find that fragrances that otherwise would go to sweet stay on the right side of the fence if there is galbanum in the mix.
Hi Kicki. I have a sizable vintage collection and lots of perfumes that have GALbanum. My absolute favorite, and what my Mom wore when I was young is original (vintage version) Miss Dior. Omg, it's heaven! I'm a big chypre lover as well and many of those, green chypres, have this note. A few others to try are Guerlain Vol De Nuit, Vent Vert if you can find it, Loewe Aire and vintage Charlie. I always thought original Halston for women had galbanum but it's not on the note list on Fragrantica and the same for EL Azuree. It smells like a galbanum bomb to me? This note is a total love for me! oxJulia
Thank you for these tips! Need to find these fragrances and try them, Loewe has a beautiful sandalwood fragrance. Vent Vert I have tried, but it was a long time ago. I think a friend has it. Not familiar with Halston. Will look it up!
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 Kicki, I would love to send you some samples. I just don't know if it is allowed as I am in the USA. Do you know if I can send perfumes to your country? I don't see an email contact for you to get your address. Oh and what is the name of the sandalwood Loewe perfume? oxJulia
@@StelmaDesigns That is so sweet of you. My e-mail is kickitheander@gmail.com. I think it might be forbidden to send perfume in the regular mail, I know it is between countries in Europe. But I have sent decants to friends in the UK, Austria, Cyprus and USA and they all reached the receivers. I wrapped them all up well with bubble wrap. I would love some samples of fragrances that you recommend. I love trying new stuff! The sandalwood fragrance from Loewe is this one. It is a fairly light and easy to wear sandalwood fragrance, kind of basic but beautiful. And the price is pretty good. I fin Piano Santal and Santal Austral can be a little challenging at times and this one from Loewe might be a good staple, is what I am thinking. www.fragrantica.com/perfume/Loewe/Loewe-001-Woman-40790.html
Cristalle eau de toilette from Chanel if you can find it nowadays has the best galbanum top note for me, something crystalline as the name suggests and icy in the best way. Galbanum and narcissus are also very important in Vol de Nuit from Guerlain. I could go on and on about galbanum fragrances but I'll mention just these two.
Fleur de Lalita from Dusita, Synthetic Jungle by F.Malle, Dryad by Papillon and Copper by Comme des Garcons are the ones I own and I can recommend! All very different takes on galbanum.
Thank you for more tips! Copper I know where I can sniff and Synthetic Jungle, too. Dusita is more difficult for me to get my nose on, but will look out for it. I really find their fragrances interesting.
Thanks Kicki! 🌼 I enjoyed hearing your thoughts on these galbanum fragrance. I haven't smelled Safari in a very long time. I do have a sample of Dryad. I tested it last year. It was challenging for me and I wore it through the whole day, but there were moments I had to stop myself from wanting to scrub it off. It's the only Papillon fragrance I struggled to wear. A lot of people seem to really enjoy it. I will have to test it again soon to see if I like it more. I want to try the MDCI and a few others from your list. I just got a sample of Iris Malikân but haven't worn it yet. It's interesting how Iris is often the note of choice to pair with Galbanum. Sometimes along with amber. Those must be classic combinations. I hope we get to hear your opinion on the scents your interested to test if you get the chance to try them. Have a great day! 💛~ Jenn
Thank you for commenting. Yes, iris seems to be the note to pair galbanum with in female/unisex fragrances, but in vintage fragrances marketed towards men I think there are other combos. And amber, like you said. I think Dryad might be challenging to my nose as well. Even Bengale Rouge I had to take my time with. It was not a love at first sniff.
I should not have mentioned it having a vanillic base, that was taking it too far. There is amber in the base and amber has vanilla touches, but Safari is mostly green, floral and powdery.
Hi there dear, love your channel and honesty very much. May I ask, have you ever tried Vol de Nuit by Guerlain in the old edt formulation or extract version? Omg, the way some peopole have spoken about the extract, the chypre of old 😱 I am very intrested in Chanel 19, both og and poudre! Also Eris Green Spell, and Malle Syntethic Jungle. Also, do you havd Edwardian Boquet by Floris? I wonder if galbanum is there in the green notes.
Thank you. Ramsey spoke of Vol de Nuit and I was curious. Have not tried it. Have not been in the game very long compared to him. Never heard of Green Spell or Edwardian Boquet. Floris is a house that I have sort of ruled out because of weak fragrances. The ones I have tried disappear on my skin, quite quickly. But to be honest, have only tried one or maybe two. Had a decant of Honey Oud and I could hardly smell it after five minutes. I have a tendency to rule out perfume houses if I don't like two fragrances. Feel the same about Nicolai, but there the perfumes are too loud and unrefined. The truth is that I have only tried a few, though. Will make sure to try Synthetic Jungle this coming week. We have twos shops here that carry that brand.
Same here. I think there are a few bitter notes to look for. Bitter orange, of course but also saffron, artemisia, vetiver, oakmoss and sometimes chocolate and cacao. I am sure there are more. You might also like petigrain as a note. Some find that bitter.
@@thehonestperfumereviewer6336 I'm a huge fan of most of those and stay talking about them. Bitter orange, oakmoss, coffee, dark chocolate and even a very dirty patchouli are such a vibe. But unlike you I do love a very green earthy, even herbal smell. Give me the smell of wet dirt anyday if I wanna be cozy at home lol. Its a strange preference but I love it. I've been loving heavy yuzu fragrances too, especially as we approach summer. It often has a bitter kick, albeit a subtle one. I'll also see what I can find with angelica.
@@jeanique Well, I can sort of enjoy an earthy note, but not if it is too prominent. Too much carrot seed and oakmoss can destroy a fragrance. But my taste keeps changing.
My favourite fragrance with galbanum is Prada iris from the infusion line. It smells both old-fashioned and fresh in a green, powdery, soapy, not ozonic or aquatic way, if that makes sense. I have the Chanel 19 poudré too but it's not one I reach for often.
Wow! Thanks for subscribing. Just started watching more of your videos, very much appreciate your depth and knowledge and how you can take us back and talk about older stuff even if it is frustrating to not be able to access the stuff. You can have well-grounded opinions about the trends in perfumery and how things have changed and I find all of that stuff really interesting.
Checked out the note breakdown for Safari and it looks very nice. How prominent is the vanilla? If it is a sweet scent I am not sure it is for me. Love galbanum
Not prominent at all, it is a touch. Safari is not sweet at all, but the ambery base softens up the sharp notes a little I think. I should not have called it vanillic, that was going too far.

Yes, I agree with Stelma Designs, Miss Dior original a stunning beauty, must try. Great video Kiki, Thank you.
Hello kiki, I like galbanum very much in K de Krizia and Jean louis Scherrer. Thanks for the video😊
Oh yes the scherrer is very galbanum and reminds me of sisley Eau de Soir
Thank you for the tips!

A great Galbanum dominant fragrance for my taste is Beach Hut Man by Amouage.

I like this note as well. I recommend Iris sandalwood from Jo Malone from the intense line. I love that fragrance. Verry unusual i think. Beye❤
