    This response is only to help visual learners like myself. Don't get caught up in the language. FOR ME I don't care if you call it a single crochet or a moon crochet, I am going to do exactly what you do to get exactly the same result. So do that and then repeat steps, starting at, I believe, 27:57. IT DOES GET EASIER and you will end up with an extraordinary BEAUTIFUL product. DON'T GIVE UP!! For me also I listened and wrote out the pattern so I could see it. I would share but I used made up terms that I understand but you probably wouldn't...lol.

    this is remarkably similar to the European "Catherine's Wheel" pattern, which is made with 7 double crochets in the same chain for each half of the circle ... I enjoyed seeing this in white (a perfect Christening blanket)

    Wow, feel much like a detective. Since I really wanted to figure this out I had to write myself written instructions. My problem was working the corners. I realized the corners are worked very differently than the sides ! I mistakenly assumed the corners in row 3 were worked with two sets of 4 TC (like the sides) when in fact the next row corners only worked (for me) if three sets of 4 TC are completed for corners in row 3. Unless I'm wrong (AGAIN) at point 49.32 in the video is a great visual of the circles that clearly have four sets of 4 TC to complete the circle. The design is basically working corners and the sides with the knowledge that they are worked differently meaning the corners are 3 sets of 4 TC and the sides are 2 sets of TC for the 3rd row. Of course row 2 is different. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it but I haven't gotten very far yet.

      I've had to frog and start many times. Not from the beginning, but during different sections. I got confused when a single crochet was sometimes called a slip-stitch, or a chain, and reversed. I did finally understand the whole idea, so I'm off to the races. This is such a lovely pattern. Well worth some guessing on my part. Thank goodness I can start and stop the video and go back if I need to.

At the end of the video I got a little confused on what row we are starting and how to keep going. I can follow the video instructions fine, but as soon as you stopped I got lost. I tried rewatching the video multiple times, but still can't figure out what to do. Anyway I could get a written pattern so I can figure out what comes next? Or a time marker for where I can start the video over to see this row again?

      Hi Ana ... Do you know what size a #4 hook is. I looked at a conversion chart and it is a size E. That is kind of small. I was thinking her hook looks more like a G but I could be way off.

    • @anamakda4879
      @anamakda4879 6 лет назад +1

      Sandra Polichino, the hook that she’s using is a “G/6 - 4mm” crochet hook! But, it doesn’t really matter the hook size, because she says to use a hook size according to what the yarn weight suggests! Plus, the size of the crochet hook depends on you, according to how tight or lose crocheter you are and how much drape you want in your piece! Yarn weight and hook size only matters to me if I’m doing a clothing piece, like cardigan or some other piece! Anyway, I went ahead and rewind and replay several times until I got the right screenshot, which I enlarged and sure enough it is a G/6 - 4.0mm hook and it’s a Susan Bates type of hook. It looks smaller when she’s crocheting because the camera is no longer on a closeup setting! Hope this answers your question!

    • @anamakda4879
      @anamakda4879 6 лет назад

      Sandra Polichino, BTW, here is a link to crochet hook sizes and their letting & number for U.S.A. standard crochet hooks!

    • @sandrapolichino8806

    • @anamakda4879
      @anamakda4879 6 лет назад

      Sandra Polichino , oh, good! No, it isn’t really strange! Because, crochet hook have not been standardized, until in recent time there is move to be standardized! There is a lot of discrepancies in sizes depending on where in the world they were made! Good luck with your project! Also, there is a measuring chart with holes for hooks available in case you’re not sure of what’s the right size!

      Lissette Stevermer it is very simple. When you are done with your scalloped row, you slip stitch through your final Loop. Cut your yarn and then weave it through your last few stitches. I do not have a formal written pattern for this yet I will post when I come up with one. Best of luck!

    Well I finished it and I don't like how it came out. right in the middle of the blanket there is a hole. It's hard to describe how there is a hole in the middle of the blanket. It sinks in the middle. Anyway I'm going to try to make another one but instead of a square I'm going to make the long one well good luck to me. 🙁😕😕

    I'm just confused about 1 thing. When you make it to the very end when you have to lock down your 3rd half circle are you left with 3 or 4 loops left at the end? I keep ending up with 3 loops left to lock down the 3rd hald circle. Please help

    Love this I would like to make it for a cot about 60" - 45" could you please tell me how many rings I need to start and how much yarn is needed in the UK we go by weight 50g , 100g and 400g, also an it be made in DK, I know I have asked a lot of questions but I'm new to crochet. many thanks xx

      I'm not really sure how much urine you would need. My yarn was tightly woven & I used 3. Get some baby afghans call for 6 or 7 skeens of yarn. I always over buy, and then return what I don't use.

    • @CuteCraftIdeas
      @CuteCraftIdeas  5 лет назад

      For a more oblong Afghan I would start with four rings. That should come out nicely for you. As far as yarn I'm not sure. It really depends on how much is on your ball. I always over buy and then return what I don't use I would start with 6 or so.

      I have never changed colors. But if I did I would probably do it during the slip stitch on the corner.

      Hi Celeste! She mentions at the beginning of the video that it doesn't require a border because the rows are basically like a border too :)

      Ginny Kohn it’s worked in rounds so each time you start a new round the blanket gets bigger.

    • @CuteCraftIdeas

      Because it is built up evenly as a square throughout the pattern...you can just stop crocheting when you reach the size you want.
