Your family has built the most delightful life together! This is how we are all meant to live - fruitfully, close to family, and close to nature. I am so inspired!
I really like this video because it was so informational about daily life and the costs. I did not realize that people get paid so little there and the rent is barely affordable.
We got a chance to hear about Carlo's perspective of Positano and his passions. Would you be able to do a Q&A with Sky only if she is interested. It give us a different perspective of a different age group. Questions like, how does she like living in Positano, why she chose to go to school elsewhere, what are her favourite things to do in Positano, what she dislikes about Positano or Italy, her all time favourite place in Italy and why, when she is done school does she think she will stay in Positano and why-this might make you cry! Maybe in turn she or Carlo can interview you ask you questions, similar to what you asked Carlo. Additional content.
The breakdown of cost of living is very interesting. I liked the sit down with you going back and forth with you, then footage of Positano. I end up cooking more after watching your videos, trying similar foods that you are making and I'm having such a good time with it and learning about the seasonal way you cook. It was entertaining to watch you shoo-ing the chickens and the interview with Carlo. I pretty much like everything you show us! Thank you! Oh, another thing- toss/coat raisins, or any dried fruit, in flour and fold them in last, will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the cake.
Hi Nicki, Wonderful video, again! Loved the "Chickens Gone Wild" part. Your food always looks amazing, and I loved your explanation about cost of living, but mostly TIPPING! Visitors need to have an understanding of this point. Molto importante bellissima !
Thankfully you were able to move on to an incredibly lovely home. You certainly paid your dues for 13 years putting up with many inconveniences! Very happy for you!
Nicki, i know is expensive but is a paradise. You are lucky to live in Positano la dulce vita.Your family has managed to live well.Your husband is a handyman , so is a big help.Im very happy for you, cheers from Ny.😊
Love seeing your day to day activities. Don’t ever think you have to make it more interesting. Just seeing your property and every day life is fascinating and the videos are such great quality, it’s like watching a movie!!! But I think I’ll have to wait until I’m a millionaire to come and live in Positano! ☹️
Cathryne Allen I was able to visit Positano while on a Cruise through a van tour. We went to Positano and Sorrento and all along the coast. Carlo, is right, Never say Never!!!
Just a great way to start my day. A cup of coffee and a new Nicki Positano Vlog. Look forward to new ones and love visiting some of our favorite places through your trips. Keep up the great work and hoping all stay well!
I Particularly enjoyed your chicken herding skills, I have to say, you’ve made me appreciate my little home and the way I should live each day more, grazie tanto!
Your vlogs came up on my recommendations and since I've been binge watching and I'd like to thank you. I love Italy I'm half Italian but never been. It's so beautiful there and your vlogs have been a Blessing for helping time go by during this tragic situation. Take care stay safe love and Blessings from Lynn in Rhode island 😘💝
Thank you Nicki... I’m love love loving your vlogs.... very interesting to compare the cost of living there with here in Liverpool.... fingers crossed that I win the lottery soon😄 Carlo is fast becoming a superstar isn’t he? my dear husband is getting fed up with me sighing “why can’t you be more like Carlo?” His response is far too rude to put on here though.....
OMG - That was so funny watching you corral those chickens back in the coop. I visited Positano in June 2018 for a week and fell in love with Positano. Watching your vlog makes me think about Positano and I've been a fan since just before visiting and of course since. Sending you love from California and wishing you the best. Can't wait until life returns back to normal. Cheers.
Thanks a million Nicki! i laughed out loud several times -- chicken chase, Carlo interview (love how creative you are getting with the camera angles and positions). Feeling all warm and fuzzy. Thanks again!
Always look forward and love your videos! Loved!! watching the waves rolling in!! I know they’re destructive but they are so beautiful! I love making ricotta and have made mozzarella too so love watching the sheep’s cheese being made! Yum!! Can’t beat fresh and no doubt organic cheese!! Thanks for the Q&A. You are such a wonderful family and Carlo I love hearing you speak Italian and Nicki with the subtext it helps me learn the language!! Happiest of ny to you all and Nicki I hope you can see your dad soon 💗 Stay safe and healthy!!
We used to make homemade pasta after church on Sunday. Mom made the dough, brother and I shaped the pasta. Older sister was married, lived elsewhere. Did not realize tipping was accepted in Positano. Some parts of Italy it is suggested to round up the bill, not actually tip a percentage. In the USA we always tip. My daughter tried letting her chickens walk about outside of the cage. A fox decided they were great treats. After the loss of 2, they are now back into the spacious coop. Always look forward to your videos and enjoy all of them.
I LOL’ed at the video of you chasing the chickies to get them back home - good stuff! For Carlo, answering if he’s always lived in Positano- seemed sad to answer “yes!” for fear of judgment but that he’s travelled in other places. But if your ♥️ is happy, that’s where your home is - and it’s lovely!!
Hi, I'm Carlo, thank you, actually I was not sad or worried about any judgments or criticisms, but I was simply using one of my many expressions on my face which often unknowingly or not, I do, many times I have been told that I have a very expressive, in the sense that I use facial expressions a lot, now I have no idea if this is true or not, but the fact remains, that because of the character I have, I hardly fear the judgment of others!
@@NickiPositano that’s wonderful to know! My youngest has a “non-poker face” with all her expressive expressions lol I told her to never play poker or she would “give her hand (cards) away” to others 😂♥️ we love your family’s videos in your “daily lives” - thank you!
Hello Nicki !! So glad to see all the family healthy and beautiful! This video is so much fun specially when you’re chasing the chickens 🐓🐓🐓🐓. Sky is so beautiful ❤️. I have a daughter that is the same age as your daughter. You’re a lovely person. Thank you for sharing with us beautiful Positano. Take care and can’t wait for the next video 🤗🤗🤗🤗
I came across your diaries a couple of days ago. I have been watching them in order of production. Thank you for the informative and entertaining insights, information and enjoyable views about your village.
This monthly cost break-down of expenses in Positano = one of the most important videos on life in Italy. It's impossible not to want to come live there (in Positano) given the AMAZING views you're showing us. Plus, the majority watching your videos must have a bit on interest in this country, even if they don't want to live in that city, but would prefer Rome, Milan, or some other city... PS - this is the 200th comment o.o
Thank you for breaking down the cost, I always wondered what it would be. So, I guess I’ll just move in with you lol. I love the questions for Carlo! Another great to spend my time today!
Can you tell us more about holly pls. When you found her, age etc. She’s adorable 😍. Also, how old is Carlo’s son and is there a story there? Thanks and stay safe. Ciao ciao
My husband is so similar to your Carlo in that he loves to watch you tube videos of random workshop things, but I love how he gets on with loads of little projects around the house/ garden... sadly my hubby likes making model ships from scratch 😧 not quite as useful 😂😂😂
hello, Im so happy I've stumbled onto your channel. I was looking for something to visually/mentally stimulate my brain. I visited Italy 2 years ago when i flew into Venice, Italy with my family where we stayed for a few days and then took a cruise to Montenegro, 3 parts of Greece, Croatia etc. The 10 day trip was absolutely stunning and my most treasured of all. I really look forward to watching your videos.
Another great video Nicki. Where I live in Australia, we are in the middle of a forest so our cost of living is different from living in a town. Our electricity costs are very high amongst other expenses.
Nicki, loving these vlogs. Really inspiring. Keep the content coming, yours and your family's home, garden, and overall lifestyle is giving me so many ideas for my rural lifestyle in our tea highlands. Can't believe we're getting this quality content for free! Watching from Kenya.
So happy you starting posting more videos. I watch your instagram stories but I like the longer format. Any chance of you sharing that cake recipe? It looked very tasty..
Just killing some time waiting till I can start the jobs around the house and go mountain biking once again. Love the insight you've provided. I really enjoyed traveling in Italy and always found people fascinating and thought I understood the financial hardship and it was very apparent after travelling out of France and Northern Italy (Milan and Como). I liked the rundown on cost of living and while the prices for food and services seemed substantially cheaper and rental reasonably equivilant to that here In Australia but puting that in perspective with wages and the continuity or lack of income for some. I had no idea that tipping was a thing in Italy and thought that only happen in America. Carlo's answer was a good one "I feel like a citizen of the world' just a pity many more people don't would share in that attitude, we'd all be a lot off and happier.
Love, love, loved this. The rissotto, one of my favourite recipes. Brilliant swing seat, Carlo you're a treasure. Paestum is indeed a wonderful visit. The grounds look much better kept now. Used to have to be very careful of snakes! There were so many of them. Was the other site Velia? Another excellent visit. Managed to get locked in there after closing time once... freaked out a bit but then climbed over the fence lol.
FASCINATING insight into how other people live. Thanks for giving us your personal financial info. I think my favorite place to live, if I had to choose anywhere in the world, would be the Cotswolds.
Positano is a mini Switzerland, sadly same prices but crap salaries in Italy...Unfair. Its a good thing to tell folks about this, for many reasons. I am envious of your asparagus! I picked up a bunch in the shop here (Switzerland) and it was 10 euro! Being Scottish I immediately put it back down and walked out in disgust! Now you can show us all your asparagus recipes please?!
Hi Nikki, Yes made it to the end of your vlog as I always do.😀 I would just like to fly out to Positano, it always looks so inviting but meanwhile I will watch the vlogs and daydream....lol. Thank you and stay safe both.xx🙏🏻👍
What a wonderful clip. Very useful info about the costs, parking was most shocking. I knew it took very long for you to upload videos before but I can't imagine that many hours for each clip. PS: I already liked and was about to comment when you asked Carlo my questions. That was a cherry on top! Thank you
Loving the videos. Carlo is a very handy (handsome) man to have around.😄 It was very keystone cops watching you try to gather the chickens up. Made me laugh.
Nicki so many laughs this morning. I'm watching with my first cup of coffee as I wake up. You herding chickens had me chuckling as did Carlos responses to your questions. I don't think any man will think he's typical! Just a little thought for anyone wanting to spend time in Positano or along coast. Look for housesitting opportunities. I travelled all over United Kingdom and Europe by housesitting and have stayed in amazing locations, from a five hundred year old villa near Florence, a beach house on Paros, an old inn in Yorkshire, a cottage in Scotland near the sea (that's what took me to Scotland, and I didn't leave for three years) and lots of other places. I did that for three years before falling in love with Scotland. Also would you consider putting a tiny cottage or space on your property just big enough for a bedsit, as I think loads of people like myself would love to stay and walk your path, herd your chickens, and go see everywhere you point out. Just a thought. Oh and have a piece of Dorset apple cake too. Oh and PLEASE do a makeup tutorial because I love your fresh look and love all the lovely dresses you wear too, where do you get those if you don't mind me asking.
We already have a tiny house that we rent on airbnb! I have filmed 2 makeup tutorials in the last 2 days and hate them both, so probaby wont be posting them. My dresses are mostly either M&S or Asos.
Nicki Positano oh how wonderful, I'll definitely check that out, thanks for the reply and I'm sure your makeup tutorial is way better than you think it is. When you're ready we will be happy to see how you do your fresh and a wee bit glam for feeding chickens look.
The utility prices (cable, electricity, water) is much less pricey than here in NYC - as is the idea of a 1000 euro a month rental which wasn't even really possible here even 20 years ago for just a small one bedroom apartment. Though I know finding availability in Positano is difficult. Food costs, when I have stayed there, I found to also be a lot less pricey for meat, chicken, fruit, vegetables. I find that all over Italy including in Positano. I was told last year when I was there by a hotel owner that finding places for seasonal workers to stay now is a nightmare given the issue of Airbnb and other vacation rentals - That practice has change the face of many destinations and cities worldwide. Thanks for doing this - it is helpful, I'm sure, for all those imagining living in your lovely corner of the world.
Yes, please remember that I mentioned that the average worker gets between 1000-1500 euro a month wages. So the price of rent may be cheap to you but if one person is paying that rent and earnin only a bit more it is difficult.
@@NickiPositano Oh, I know - I was just musing on overall differences including the income differences. I am just hoping that people in the area will soon again be able to be earning once again.
Hello nikki thankbyou for your references on how it cost to live in positano... i guess it is really expensive but its worthliving there..coz its like heaven in positano
Very interesting! Makes me aware of the fact that in Vermont where I live by Caspian Lake, the garbage, water, parking, snow shovel, is all free! I do shop every week for $40 including cat food for three cats
Watching some of your older videos again. My 5 year old watches your videos with me because he likes your dog and cat. Yesterday we met up with my grandma at my great aunt's house and she has a dog and cat that look just like Holly and Lily. He got so excited thinking they were your dog and cat.
Thank you for that crucial breakdown of " the cost of living in Positano". Unfortunately AirBNB has contributed to more cities' in Western Europe to no longer being affordable for locals as one chap a Jeweller in Florence said, he feels like an animator in his own town for the tourist invasion as the only local who actually works and lives in Florence town centre. Seniors living alone as well as single young persons can't afford to live in their local location and hotels have declining business. We seniors move to Eastern Europe due to lower cost of living average pensions, the young become ill due to stress and so forth. Unfortunately we as spiritual beings are placing currency on a higher level than our personal human value. On the other hand we all move to and live in the spas countryside and visit the once were home locations during tourist season as tourists of our planet. Some major cities in Germany have clamped down on AirBnB for this very reason. Anyone who rents their apartment 's through airBnB to earn are fined then the apartments are confiscated by the local council for not letting their apartments to locals who are the working force "nuts and bolts" that keep the cities and towns oiled. Medical, teaching, service staff and many many more. I've been mainly a freelancer in education, tourism, political, medical and am in NZ mainly due to these higher expenses and my adult children live with their families in Western Europe where I've spent more of my life. I have tried all other options such as a downsizing, a senior commune, East Germany, and it wasn't an option. A cousin of mine also a freelancer, Journalist moved back to his birth country Australia and his daughters also live in Germany. Life could be so much simpler and yet has become more complicated due to a currency being of more value than a humans' life. After watching, listening to you, I'd like to say no intention to upset you, I'd stay where you are, you love the place on that note, let the next generation do the walking for you when the day comes, and you need to mimic Carlo's father in reference to steps. Take your time and enjoy each day as it comes. I'm only early sixty now with a physical disability, and it's always a pleasant surprise being offered help to carry stuff, chats with the couriers and so forth, and no I have no family nor friends here, I didn't mean to stay longer than two years except I created a CNS cancer due to a stressful lifestyle and instead of dying as I've been told three time during the past four years I keep waking up. Just wish someone would tell me what it is that I need to complete. The Moral of this long comment is, I can't remember darn. So have a warm chocolate and hugs all round.
Thanks Nikki n Carlo for great understanding on how much it cost to live I myself one day would love to live there retirement I fell in love with the way of life . Your garden is amazing your cooking is good n interesting with awesome 🎂 cakes . Tell Carlo we love seeing him more in videos . It’s funny he understands English but try’s to speak little his so cute looking forward to next one ❤️👌🤩
Another great video 👍 love all the information. Positano like most popular places now are very expensive but then again everyday living sometimes is challenging. Still beautiful just the same... One can still dream. Love your cavatelli😋 I was lucky enough to spend a week there and it is so beautiful hope to get back there one day. I looked up a recipe for the Dorset apple cake delicious. Glad you are all healthy and safe.
Thank you Nicki! I have discovered your videos only recently and now I am watching 2 or 3 a day! When did you start, so that I can go back to the beginning? I find your videos very inspiring, and have been motivated to be more versatile in my cooking and baking and, in general, to admire what is around me. I moved from South Africa to Portugal last year and now live in a tiny place on the coast of Algarve. After living in big cities all my life I love living here where people in shops greet you by your name and where you actually know your neighbours. Greetings, Virginia
Hi Virginia, I'm Carlo, Thanks a lot for the comment, very nice, so if you want to start from the older videos you have to go here; ruclips.net/channel/UCiTHbmAiRSsYTK9BRmWsMsAvideos then scroll down the page, and you will find the older ones, as far as small towns are concerned, I know exactly what you are talking about, and what I like best, but don't forget that even this type of interaction has its downsides, I hope not, but probably yes, I'm talking about when someone might be too curious about your business!
@@NickiPositano Thank you Carlo! WOW I had no idea that your diaries go back 14 years. Congratulations! I have now shared the link with friends in Canada, South Africa, Australia, and in various European countries. Eh!eh!eh! I know...the Portuguese are very similar to the Italians in their curiosity ; ) Happy New Year to you and your family. Greetings Virginia
Hi Nicki , just loved the chicken chase! The information was great on the cost of living! Everyone who comes to Positano falls in love with it . I did many years ago! I agree with Carlo.....”Cinema Paradiso” the ending was fabulous! ❤️ Stay well! 🐶❤️🌟😻😻😻one for “not my cat” lol😄
Hi again niki.so sorry as I was watching ching your informative videos, I realized you answered my questions.thank you so much again and a stay safe...😊😊😊
Thank you for this video! Gives us an idea of budget to visit Positano as well. Please do create a similar video for Capri and Ravello. If we are overseas travelers it would be very informative
Hi Nicki, love seeing your life in Positano. Am watching a few months late but - has anybody let you know already - are you clipping the chickens wing feathers to limit their flying? Good luck with them
I love FRESH pasta BUT eat it RARELY if make some ravioli etc by hand (I have no machine) but could not make it as you do as I don't have the patience to do so many. hahaha Nicki...interviewing Carlo while he is on a tall LADDER!!! YOU know how to keep us on the edge of our chairs...lol. ♥
I figured it would be pricey to live in Positano but you are so fortunate that your home was in Carlo’s family! That’s a huge expense you don’t have! I don’t know if I could handle the parking situation!! But to live there, I would find a way. Thanks for another peak into your life! Have a wonderful day!
Fab video Nikki. Your food always looks so yummy. I loved the Apple cake. Is it possible you could share the recipe sometime. It is raining and grey today, after a long spell of beautiful weather, and I agree, rain means cake! I also really noticed to day, how much Skye looks like Carlo x
I miss Positano, and I'm loving your videos. Can you tell us more about Holly? She's so sweet! Carlo should also create is own channel showing his DIY when he's working outside. :) Also, please tell him to be careful on the ladder. :) Stay safe!

I wouldn't call it my personal financial info.
Hi Nikki,
Yes made it to the end of your vlog as I always do.😀
I would just like to fly out to Positano, it always looks so inviting but meanwhile I will watch the vlogs and daydream....lol.
Thank you
Parking is a big problem here!
A very informative video, i just love all the views.
So much fun to watch Nicki thanks!
what a fabulous life you have blessings always be safe and healthy and thank you again for enjoying that area of my dear home land , ciao grazie
Excellent video and presentation. Well done. Thank you.
Chicken Chase was great, very funny!!!
🙏🏽
Delicious looking apple cake 😊... Lovely how you all exchange food😊

Glad you are all healthy and safe.
thx a lot Nicki for your wonderful vlog about my former home town 😊👍
Thank you Nicki! I have discovered your videos only recently and now I am watching 2 or 3 a day! When did you start, so that I can go back to the beginning? I find your videos very inspiring, and have been motivated to be more versatile in my cooking and baking and, in general, to admire what is around me. I moved from South Africa to Portugal last year and now live in a tiny place on the coast of Algarve. After living in big cities all my life I love living here where people in shops greet you by your name and where you actually know your neighbours. Greetings, Virginia
Hi Virginia, I'm Carlo, Thanks a lot for the comment, very nice, so if you want to start from the older videos you have to go here; ruclips.net/channel/UCiTHbmAiRSsYTK9BRmWsMsAvideos
then scroll down the page, and you will find the older ones, as far as small towns are concerned, I know exactly what you are talking about, and what I like best, but don't forget that even this type of interaction has its downsides, I hope not, but probably yes, I'm talking about when someone might be too curious about your business!
@@NickiPositano Thank you Carlo! WOW I had no idea that your diaries go back 14 years. Congratulations! I have now shared the link with friends in Canada, South Africa, Australia, and in various European countries. Eh!eh!eh! I know...the Portuguese are very similar to the Italians in their curiosity ; )
Happy New Year to you and your family. Greetings Virginia
I’m really your videos. I binge several everyday.
I had to stop at 2:40 to get my coffee ( I have a Jura) and my fresh banana cake😊. Now you know we really shared a moment Nicki!

Thank you for this video! Gives us an idea of budget to visit Positano as well. Please do create a similar video for Capri and Ravello. If we are overseas travelers it would be very informative
You are so generous to share these financial details. Thank you for creating this interesting and informative video.
Hi Nicki, love seeing your life in Positano. Am watching a few months late but - has anybody let you know already - are you clipping the chickens wing feathers to limit their flying? Good luck with them
Wow this video is great! Great job and stay safe. Greetings from Belgrade, Serbia
great film, as always!
Do you ever snorkel around your area? The water looks lovely. Are there any colorful fish? Sharks?
Love it all!
I figured it would be pricey to live in Positano but you are so fortunate that your home was in Carlo’s family! That’s a huge expense you don’t have! I don’t know if I could handle the parking situation!! But to live there, I would find a way. Thanks for another peak into your life! Have a wonderful day!
parking is a nightmare.
Cost of living is comparable to Melbourne, Australia.
I’m LOVING your channel!! And your recipes are so delicious looking! I can’t wait to make them!! Hugs! Karen
Just google bbc food Dorset apple cake
I miss Positano, and I'm loving your videos. Can you tell us more about Holly? She's so sweet! Carlo should also create is own channel showing his DIY when he's working outside. :) Also, please tell him to be careful on the ladder. :) Stay safe!
Nicki~ I don’t think Carlo is a typical Italian man.
Somehow, I sensed that. Don’t know how...
By the way, cinema Paradiso? Yes! ❤️💖💕
