    Originally, The Chevrolet Uplander and the whole U-Body vans were initially going to receive a redesign for 2009 model year and would use the Lambda Platform, because of declining sales, the plan was cancelled and General Motors chose to leave the minivan market in favor of crossover SUVs.

    Just bought mine: 2005 w/ 168k mi. The mirror switch just needs to be replaced. Amazon. Easy fix. Mine is a side wheelchair ramp pro conversion w/ lowered floor. GM quality so lots of little electrical issues. Mainly switches, but the “bones” of the van: engine/transmission are good. Arizona car so no rust. Suspension is totally shot front and rear but I’m redoing that. Keep an eye on the engine oil switch( works the dash light/or gauge if you have it). They are notorious for leaking and causing a oily mess underneath. I commend you for your good buy for $3500!!

I'm having ac issue i get a puddle in the front passenger floor and ac blows hot air. I did have to get a new radiator recently Lighting on dashboard dont work other that I love the mini van used it to go from south Texas to Missouri many times. I've had this van for a year. Thinking about buying a 2008 Uplander with only 40k miles on it. Should I do it? Transmission and steering issues worry me which seems to be common problems with this vehicle. I'm looking to replace a Honda Pilot which has over 200k miles and is now gas-guzzling at just 15mpg.

    • @timmypstyle
      @timmypstyle  2 года назад

      Id say do it if its a good price. With the transmission, make sure it doesn't slip when you test drive it. And if you buy it, id change the transmission fluid in it. 40,000 miles is just getting broken in. The transmissions are known to go bad but its mostly from overheating or not changing the fluid in time. The overheating issue im not sure is a huge issue on the uplander. Mine has a transmission cooler but im not sure if the ones that aren't for hauling cargo have a cooler for the transmission.

      Nope. Ended up getting a Lexus SUV. The Uplander was $3800 I believe.

      If its just the handle, it's super easy. It literally takes 2 minutes to replace. Mine broke on this one too.

      @@phillyjayee the transmission is the weakest link in them. So pay extra attention to maintain that and it will be fine.

    Why do you not know what to do with the problems inside and on the body of the Uplander? You keep saying, "I don't know what to do" for almost every problem. Why did you not insist that the repairs made on the vehicle were done correctly? You should not have accepted the shod craftmanship. How are you going to change the door side mirrors (up and down or side to side) to see the other drivers and cars beside and behind you when the controller still does not function? It is a good thing that there are so many parts available for the Uplander through regular auto parts stores. The glove box door needs a new locking handle assembly, and the van may need transmission, steering, or engine parts. Overall, the uplander is a good vehicle that will last you for at least 100,000 more miles as long as you maintain it.

      I actually never said "I don't know what to do" about anything. I just watched my video in full to see what you were talking about. I literally said I was going to buy a new glove box handle and that I could rig it but wanted to buy a new one. Also said I was going to do a transmission fluid change and oil change, again never saying I didn't know what to do... On top of that, thus was a 12 year old vehicle that was used by another business. Things break over time, and it was being sold "as-is". Its kind of expected that things will have issues or won't work correctly. Every electronic works except the power mirror buttons. Even with power mirrors, you can reach out the window and push on them to put them where you want, which is what I did and its worked fine. I used it the whole summer and it did great. I found out it only needed an alignment, 2 front tires because of the alignment being off, and there is a leak from the A/C compressor or lines. Transmission still slips a bit but only on takeoff. I changed the fluid and filter and also used Lucas stop slip, which helped about 40%. The engine is fine, runs smoothe and has good power. The interior panels, like the pieces around the door handles, are just cosmetic stuff so I don't care about it. I replaced the glove box handle and it works great. I don't beat on it at all so yes it should last me awhile.

      Already had a can laying around from when I sealed a window leak on my old house. And its now been over 1.5 years on the van and hasn't leaked again yet. Was at the house for 3 years after using it and it also didn't leak after using it.
      Plus I cleaned gutters, didn't install or fix them.

      No shame meant! I actually very much appreciated this video and your other, just bought a usps fleet 08 uplander, looks to be same model as yours minus I don't have onstar buttons, and you've got vinyl and I've got destroyed carpet. Got it from online auction for 3k tax and fees included, but 71k miles made it a deal.. I'm a handyman and bought it to add to the jobs I can accept.
      So, flex seal will fail my guy, I've seen it a dozen times. Home handy guys using a product they saw on TV. Silicone is you're answer. Not the best thing of course. But the best easiest.
      For that cracked flex seal on top, you need rubber washers on the roof then Silicone all around.
      I'm actually thinking of making what would be my first RUclips video ever because of your vids, taking my shell of a (mini)van and turning it into a workvan. I'd really like to add shelves like yours but to also have space to fit 4×8 sheets of materials. As of now I've got 2 plastic pallets in back and a front section cage so it's a blank canvas.

      @timmypstyle  2 года назад

      @@shaunradomski8625 no harm done. Actually the previous owner used silicone and it was leaking. So far the flex seal has held up altho it was cracking and flaking in areas. But I applied it to 2 areas and both dont leak currently, and its been almost 2 years. If it starts leaking again, I'll try something better. I just had laying around in my garage so I figured I'd use it up. I paid $3500 for mine with 127k or 129k. So far its not bad. Had a few minor things that needed fixed but not bad.
