    For people curious about purchasing this jacket:
    I've had mine for about a month now, and I can say thus far, it's one of the best coats/jackets I've ever owned in my life. Sizing is great (I'm 5'10", 185lbs, and a medium is what fit me; perfect sleeve length, the torso hits just below the waist, and not baggy in the shoulders/armpit area). It's warm, has a classic yet stylish look, and it's very durable (which lends to it being so stiff at first. It will take some time to mold to your body).
    All in all: 4.8/5, but you can round up.

    I have had my Detroit Carhartt for 31 years, horse blanket lining in the sleeves, no inside pocket. It is like an old familiar friend. It is so faded from the years and sun. The cuffs are lightly thread bare, overall soft as a glove. Tough as nails. The sandstone color is more of a washed out tan. Looking to get another but this time in black.

    When I was in the trades back in the early 90s, I bought the heavy duty WINTER Carhart jacket from a Outdoorsman shop up off of 6 six corners (Ciicero/Milwaukee/Irving Prk). Let me just say, for Chicago winters, you better layer up. It's greatest asset was it's functionality and toughness, not warmth. As a plummer, you needed something tough. Now style minded guys always gave me style points and props on the jacket and the Hip-Hop community caught on later. I was always like, "Man, I'm just comin from the gig."

      I'm 26 now and I still have one in my closet from when I was 17 in high school, got a little too small a couple years ago but aside from fading it's still perfect, have another one that has been legit worked in for the last 3 winter's as my go to, and the only thing starting to fray are the pockets slightly and sleeve cuffs. Carhartt will always be the best $100 spent if u work outside. Hands down. Murica.

    I’ve got the older one with the red quilt lining. Absolutely love it. I wear it chopping wood, doing farm work or just out and about. I picked it up second hand from I don’t know where lol had it for a few years myself and hits held up great. I’m looking to get the newer blanket lined one here in a few weeks. Not a super warm jacket blocks the wind and keeps the snow or light rain out really well. Paired with a flannel or even a hoodie and I’m good down to single digits for a little bit if I’m moving and working. Love the short, Ike style look too. Makes getting to tools on my belt line or in my pockets easy.

    Hey Guys, In all other brands of clothing I wear a XXL I am 5'9 265 lbs on a good day Oooops lolol, I find that every Carhartt I purchase Gillman/ Rain defender, Duck Serpa Lined Utility Jacket is great looking great jacket but open neck either wear something to stop the wind coming in or suffer , and the Extreme Traditional Coat . Plus Hoodies and the quarter zip hoodies, but my problem is they are always huge feeling and to go a size lower, it becomes 10lbs of $#@% in a 2lbs bag. Thank god my out door working days are over. Professional Window Cleaner in the Shitty City of New York( my Opinion ). I get the layering option.
    Carhartt is a brand I feel you can wear forever. Do they make a mid winter 30 to 40 degrees jacket, that fits prefect and you just don't need the room to layer, and is just comfortable enough to get in and out of the car and maybe get comfort of 15- 20 minutes standing in the cold. I know I'll write to Santa and maybe he'll make my wish come true lololol, Thanks for the video, and opinion/option are welcomed.
    Happy and healthy New year to all.

    I think you did a great job, despite the nay-sayers. If it weren't actually looking for a Carhartt winter coat t this point, this item would be a definitely be a contender, and may very well be in the future, should I ever decide to look for a Carhartt jacket. Meanwhile, I'm currently torn between the Carhartt Duck Arctic Traditional Coat C003 and the Carhartt C26 Sandstone Duck Arctic Quilt-Lined Traditional Coat - and also just learned there's a Carhart's Extreme line of options that I guess I now have to check out, as well. So many choices. What's a fella to do? LOL.

    Asked for mine for Christmas last year. Honestly hated it when I first tried it on. I'm just under 6'3, around 200lbs and the jacket is size large. The sleeves were a perfect length but the arms were incredibly bulky and the waist sits up to my belly button. The jacket comes stiff as a board as well. After washing and drying it a few times and wearing it around it definitely grew on me. Still a little odd looking because of the short waist but I just ordered a new one in size large-tall to see if this fixes it. Might sell my old one or keep it for walking in the woods. Despite my initial reaction I love this coat and it feels like it'll last a decade from the quality craftsmanship

      +Elassil 6'1" tall,48" chest and your about 200 lbs. So if I was standing next to you I would hand you an XL. But with out seeing you I can't gauge how the jacket will fit after its washed and dried. What kind of fit are you going for with the jacket? Will this be a work jacket or hanging out type thing? Did you want room to swing a tool ( sledge or ax ) ? Will you be on a motorcycle at all?
      You can email me at isaac@thebootguy.com if that easier.

      I'm looking for a tight fit, nothing bulky. Judging by the XXL size I got, most probably I'll go for an L size this time.
      Thanks in advance.

      +Elassil so you want that Cooper fit. Then you should try a large. It might never zipper. you also might have to turn down Tars humor setting. ( Large tall will give you an inch more in the arms and body )

    • @Elassil
      @Elassil 8 лет назад

      Exactly - that "Cooper fit" :) I hope it will zip.. but if not I'll definitely turn down Tars :D
      Thank you for your time! I subscribed to your channel :)

      Just a little update - L Regular is THE jacket :) A perfect fit, zipped up, no problem. Free movement, nice sleeves length.
      Pockets seems small, but - hey, can't have everything :)

    • @Spoons7414
      @Spoons7414 3 года назад

      If you’re like me and you hate having a hood get this one. I’ve been given at least half a dozen free active jackets and have maybe worn 2 of them and I could probably count on one hand how many times I’ve done so. It’s got to be COLD for me to break one of those out. Like single digits or colder

    Hi can you help me with the size please? i'm 178 cm tall and 77kg, which size is perfect for me? normally i'm L of carhartt WIP (european size) but i think it's M of US size..

    • @TheBootGuyreviews
      @TheBootGuyreviews  7 лет назад

      +Marco Fondi Med would be fine. But what I have found is WIP is more square. More of a young man's sizing. Where CARHARTT US is more of a triangle shape. Big shoulders small waist. ( This is only true on small - XXL ) you might even need a small if you want that tight modern fit and look.

    • @medferit100
      @medferit100 7 лет назад +1

      TheBootGuy Ok, you're right. Vintage size like carhartt US (triangle) it's fine too. i'll the the Med. Thanks!

      +Marco Fondi hello marco i'm about your height (182) and weight too but i don't know which size i have to take , i'm hesitating between M and S for a tight fit , i'm usually size M. The size M is good for you ?

    • @medferit100
      @medferit100 7 лет назад +2

      ZAZZ313 Hi, i took M size and fits perfect, i think that S is too small particulary at waist that is very tight

    So Carhartt has some jackets that are NOT made in the USA?

    • @TheBootGuyreviews
      @TheBootGuyreviews  6 лет назад

      +repairdrive yes for years now. Making things like coats and jeans in the USA became to expensive back in the 90's. But Carhartt was one of the few to keep a few plants working building key numbers in the USA ( C01-B01-J01 ) to name a few. But the demand has never been a strong for the USA made items as it has been for the new technically driven items. This could turn into a long conversation.

    • @TheBootGuyreviews
      @TheBootGuyreviews  7 лет назад

      +Larry Kuzmin well I cooked it in a hot dryer for about and hour and took it out only to have to strech the arms a bit. The pant your talking about is the B01 BRN. My last pair I brought was 40x36 they are now 37x33. Try to avoid washing the jacket. I feel they soften up better with out water.

    Dickies makes a ripoff version of carhartt jackets! Aint no where near a good, real trash. I seen them at one of the local agri supply stores last winter so if you buying from brick and mortar make sure you look at them real good because they look exactly the same.

    Have had mine for over 9 years brown and black both are too small now out to get the new one with deeper pockets. I agree it doesn't keep you warm in 28f weather but isn't a slouch either this is a fall jacket camping jacket cuz will take the abuse cuz the Carhartt duck. All I wear is Carhartt but beware look at the tag to make sure says Made in USA......no fooling I looked at two different sizes and one said made in usa od imported parts then the other size said MADE IN USA so you really need to look closely at the tag. Everyone wants to save a buck somehow but at least Carhartt workers were allowed to make this line MADE IN USA rather then being not allowed to. If Carhartt wasn't usa at all I wouldn't buy.
